Cheers Rick for bringing to the world, and a disabled woman from Yorkshire - (U.K.) - me, the absolute best in world travel and some breath-taking views and nature to us all. I think if you get loads of people up, out and travelling, absorbing all the culture and educating themselves about other peoples/countries and religions and the struggles they might have had to face to get where they are today, then you should be well happy with helping people to realize that you've only got one life, so get out and travel as much as you can! You can say aloud and be proud that your videos have helped people all these years. I am so grateful for every one of your videos and that your films give information about disabled travelers, such as myself - I can honestly say that that is invaluable information. I say Thank You Rick, keep on travelling my friend, always.
As usual a masterpiece from Rick. Rick’s videos and the old style travel vlogging is a great source of strength and vigor in a stressful day. Thank you Mr. Steves.
Rick's first guidebook "Europe through the back door" inspired me to quit my job in the USA and backpack through Europe. I had to visit his beloved Gimmewald. Of course, I had to hike up the Schilthorn from Gimmewald. Woof!. I fell in love with Switzerland and vowed to live there one day. One year later I was, and stayed for many years. I have traveled to 48 countries. Switzerland is without a doubt the most beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration.
I just wished he'd fact-check his narration more. Every video contains wrong statements, such as the etymology of Lauterbrunnen in this case. He could also try a little harder not to butcher place names.
Rick, much appreciated your tone, graciousness, respect, truly you are helping many get through a tight spot in history. Thank you for your kind demeanor. You are helping US. Never loses its ability to inspire and uplift. Thank you.❤️
Great Memories back in 1980: I had spent a quiet, secluded week at a family's bed'n'breakfast place in a very small Austrian village surrounded by the Alps and the soothing sound of cowbells and waterfalls. This episode brought back the once-in-a-lifetime experience! Thank you Rick Steves & crew for this episode ~
I'm from India... I can't go these places but I love watching and clearly understood the location, journey and speciality of the place/city/town... Also I like the narration which I can understand clearly without missing any note...
Watching this video made me so sad. Not because of the video, but because of 'covid times' where so many things have changed. Who wouldn't want to follow in Steve's footsteps to walk the Tour de Mont Blanc! So much has changed, I pray that one day I can visit the TMB.
I took three Eurail trips between '87 and '91 inspired by Rick Steves, averaging $60 a day and I focused on the Alps which are a snapshot of Europe in general, though I also visited lowland countries like Holland and Belgium. Switzerland, and a visit there alone, is a visit to French, Italian and German cultures. It is amazing to go thru the Gotthard tunnel and see the language change from Italian to German, or go thru a tunnel just past Basel and everyone is speaking French. I love Innsbruck and the Austrian Tyrol, a less visited town in Italy, with German street signs, is Sterzing, just over the Brenner pass and a short local train trip out of Innsbruck and back. I stayed at the Weisses Kreuz in the Pedestrian zone, where Mozart is said to have stayed, and my room looked over the pedestrian zone with a great view of the Golden Roof. Rick Steves has also helped me when considering guided tours, like my last on Trafalgar in '17, with stops situated near back doors places I can visit instead of paid tour day trips (which I do not frown on, I only did it twice on my last tour, to visit Lauterbrunnen and more laid back, less touristy parts of Amsterdam.
Never in my life would I have thought I would enjoy listening to accordions and the beautiful voices singing along. That put a smile on my face and in my heart!
I sure enjoyed this video. The Alps are awesome. My trip there was in 2016 with a daughter doing a Go Ahead Jewels of the Alpine tour in 2016 to see the countries of the Alps. Annecy and Lucerne were highlights for me. The tour included cog railway up Mount Blanc, Mount Pilatus, and the Bermia rail from Italy to St. Moritz as well as lake cruises. The most awesome for me though was unexpected. For some reason the main highway interstate was closed that dat for the direct route from St. Moritz to Innsbruck. Our tour guide from Austria took us on a secondary route she had driven and thought would work but the fear was the bus too tall for some overpasses we barely cleared. We went through a very rural part of Switzernad up in the mountains seeing the farmers and cows on the mountainsides including through their national park perhaps a little too scenic at times. It was watching PBS Rick Steves TV shows that got my daughter's interest in travelling Europe. Great video. From St. Louis
I have been watching Rick's masterpieces for decades in the US and now in Asia. I am trying to explore every corner of China. Rick's products are still delighted, full of a sense of joy and happiness. He is still as handsome as time passes on. Keeping the good work for culture and humanity, we are with you for a lifetime. Thanks.
Nice video! My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!
Hey, I'm from germany and went on vacation many times in the alps, I just want to acknowledge how well the spirit of the region was caught, really good job!
Absolutely stunning! Rick Steves captures the breathtaking beauty and charm of the Alps perfectly. A must-watch for anyone who loves travel and nature!
Oh I love this episode. Being stuck in Hong Kong by various harsh covid-related travel restrictions, there's no hope of being able to travel any time soon.
Thank you for sharing this video. Although I/m not sure I'll ever get to visit or see this in person, you really made my emotions come alive seeing the breathtaking beauty of this part of the world.
I hope you get to someday! I meant to go before the pandemic hits and I am preparing to visit as soon as I can. Maybe an opportunity will come for you too~
I would love to spend some time with Rick on such a camping site, he is really something compare to others on UA-cam, literally the more proper guy when it comes to presenting the knowledge, my compliments!
Hiking , a new experience , an unimaginable one for an Indian like me, ...great feel ,but demanding energy , ....ice sculptor, an enviable joy, ...especially in cave , wow factors not in dearth of ...a once in a lifetime joy to explore ,if possible..😘
I was in Germany and Austria last June with some family. We took a lift up to the Zugspitze, which is the highest point in Germany at 10,000 feet. When we got up there, I was just awestruck by the scenery. I also shed a few tears because I had known Rick did some shows atop the Zugspitze. I am such a huge fan of Rick Steves!
I LOVE the Alps. 14 summers since 2002 at 2-3 weeks per trip motorcycling the back roads, visiting small towns and avoiding cities and major roads. A successful day is roads without painted stripes and nobody speaks English. Although the latter is harder and harder every year.
As expected from the genius of travel vlogging.. an excellent work!!!! Thankyou so much Steves for showing these heavenly places and making us aware of the beauty this world possesses..God bless us all and the Ukrainians and the Russians!!!!
Rick inspired me to do three Eurail trips in my late 20's, between '87 and '91, adding to tours I went on in '77, '82, '84 and '17 and one business trip in '95. Europe is where my family's roots are found, as many American families. I loved the Alps, so beautiful and so unique in scenery and immersed with old small towns where so many languages are spoken. We have wonderful alpine areas in the US, like the less traveled North Cascades in the state of Washington, or in Canada, like the mountains of British Columbia and Alberta. Ricks 'Europe thru the back door' was a great guide for my back door travel everywhere I have traveled.
It is awesome..what a beautiful apls, mountains, valleys, rivers , clear and clean environment, nice new and old unique houses surrounding the best spots..Steve, thank you for sharing such a splectacular scenery--video. I hope to visit these places..God bless you.

South Tyrol was assigned to Italy because at the time the Austrian Empire tried to do to us (Italians) the same thing that Putin is trying to do to Ukraine today. They invaded Italy, claiming to have northern Italy, but they lose the war (against us) after 4 years of battles. South Tyrol went to Italy as a prey of war. Mussolini arrived 10 years later, he is not connected to these events, and he did very, very bad things, to Italy and hence to South Tyrol too. What is more impressive to me than the Alps Rick is the passion that you poured on what you loved the most: traveling. You have created such an amazing concept that has no precedent. It is inspiring and at the same time a great reminder as to how successful one can be in our amazing country, the United States of America.
Amazing….absolutely beautiful…I felt as if I was with you the whole journey….thanks from the bottom of my heart and of course lots of love to you and your dear ones 🥀🙏🏽
Thank you much Mr. Rick!!!!! I felt as I was walking, hiking, and traveling next to you!!!!! Me and my beloved husband went over a YMCA Resort located at Colorado's Rocky Mountains ⛰!! It is just beautiful everywhere you turn!! We did trip last November!!! So now that I have watched your Channel, I'll have that trip pending on my agenda!!!! Regards from the beautiful North Carolina!!! Shalom!
Hey Rick, I've been watching your stuff for a while now and just wanted to say thank you! Thanks for allowing me to see places I'll most likely never be able to personally visit. You are awesome, sir!!!
Visiting my dream country Switzerland through the eyes of Rick. Beautiful Alps. Thank you for sharing this video and featuring the Swiss Alps. ..hope one day I'll get to experience it all 💜
I really enjoyed this video, I wonder when this was filmed, it's nice to see crowds of unmasked folks just enjoying themselves in nature, thanks Ricky.
Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge. Also, I really appreciate the beautiful sceneries that you showed. I also love your unique eeh oh uh uhhhh at the end, it's so cool! ❤😂💞💐
As only 5/6 Alpine countries visited I am a bit disappointed. Slovenia is a must visit too when it comes to Alps (tall mountains up to 2800m, beautiful alpine lakes, huge biodiversity, comparable infrastructure than rest of the alpine countries).
And you are in turn forgetting Liechtenstein. You can't always do it all. In fact, rushing through the first few countries made little sense to me. But I do agree Slovenia is gorgeous.
Hi Rick, we love your travel shows! We live too far away from Europe (and don’t have the financial means) to be able to go to all these amazing places you visit, but watch your wonderfull episodes in the evening while we have dinner 👍🏼 We have a request, we live in beautiful Aotearoa (New Zealand) and wish you would come to New Zealand to make a show about this beautiful country??? Please?
I travelled to the alps a lot as a kid but never to any of the famous destinations. My parents were always looking for the best deals, nothing beats one or two weeks half board and the nature is stunning everywhere.
The world would be a better place if there were more people like Rick, I say Rick Steves for president - and I'm not even American!

very true indeed
Don't worry. He's handsomely paid by the PBS etc
Its from Rick's videos I realized how beautiful the Earth is. Thanks for sharing the video and cheers to everyone watching here.

not only rick is a gem but the cameraman & editing makes his videos the best
These were originally on TV - that’s why. He’s not just some dude with a UA-cam channel. He had a whole TV station behind him.
I just wished he'd fact-check his narration more. Every video contains wrong statements, such as the etymology of Lauterbrunnen in this case. He could also try a little harder not to butcher place names.
As an African,I must say Europe is beautiful 😍
Better than any major broadcasting company's TV show I've ever watched.
So true
Rick, much appreciated your tone, graciousness, respect, truly you are helping many get through a tight spot in history. Thank you for your kind demeanor. You are helping US. Never loses its ability to inspire and uplift. Thank you.❤️
He’s been making great travel videos before the internet. They are always entertaining, he’s on PBS or use to. 😃❤️👍
We’ve missed you. Thanks for giving us an hour of pleasure and education!
This is my favorite you have ever done Rick. Gives me something to dream about. Someday.
