I just bought this today, and holy shit.... I'm so damn impressed at this . I was in the guitar shop playing guitars double the price of this, and this played better. And at that price I couldn't turn it out. I don't even think I want to put new pickups in it, they're pretty damn good. It came set up perfect for me as well. Also you can abuse the shit out of the floyd rose and it stays it tune, doesn't come up flat from dive bombs which PISS ME OFF. I had to sell my indonesian ibanez with they're factory floyd bridge , it isn't as good as this and again, the guitar is double the price... If you're thinking about a diverse shred guitar / twangy strat at a great price , buy it.
How is the playability and does it feel like a higher end or is it a nice playing but cheap feeling guitar. Only reason I am asking I bought a Squier awhile back and it setup well and played well but still felt cheap, granted it was an Affinity.
Yeah I just picked one up too. Definitely sounds like an 800 dollar guitar . And how is screams when you take it into first position vs neck. Crazy good .
Have this one in my hand, I agree great playing ,neck is fantastic, roasted maple, love it. Paint job flawless, at least on mine, Black & Pink my favorite colour scheme. Great player for the price, glad I bought it, they are hard to come by now.
Finally a half decent review of this axe (other than Andertons - incidentally Danish Pete was so impressed he says he's keeping it). I've been strongly considering pulling the trigger on one but firstly I've not even gotten to try one yet due to apparent delays getting stock into the UK and I doubt my local store will get any soon, so kind of a risk going in blind. Secondly, it was indeed wishful thinking to expect the version of Floyd on such a cheap model to stay in tune - that's kind of a dealbreaker given I'd mainly be buying such a guitar for the additional avenues of expression and overall fun that a double-locking trem provides. Perhaps I should hold out for a Charvel or something instead. That said, Squier are killing it in their price range at the moment.
Every series squire comes out with its leaps and bounds, couple mods and you have a killer guitar, and as far as danish pete goes, he could make 3 strings on a stick sound amazing!
Go for a recent Charvel. They are legendary for quality. Build and they stay in tune. Probably used, $550. To 650. Not really staying in tune. Ok for home but you can’t gig with this. No good for stage without mods.
I own one of the first run of guitars like this (White on white headstock and body with active pickups) and its still my favorite guitar. Squier really keeps tempting me with these new models.
I played one I was blown away and I have a lot of charvels they have totally like stepped up their game for like 400 bucks if you close your eyes and play one you'll think it's at least $1,000 guitar
Nice Hot for Teacher riff-Personally I love the pink pearl finish contrasted with black hardware, pickguard and headstock-and the roasted maple neck vibes well with the color scheme. But hey, I’m an old guy. Two tone pink and black color scheme was very popular in late 50s for popular cars (1955-56 Chevys) and for good reason. And although I dont usually even consider buying a guitar with a Floyd Rose of any kind-this offer from Squier has changed my mind-its at the top of next guitar I am buying list. Very well done review-thanks!!
Hi Jake, bought this exact model in shell pink too, really good value for money, I am definitely going to put 10s on it, but it really is a comfortable guitar to play.
I am up to 3 squires, classic vibe tele and strat, and tele mod contemp. They are really knocking it out of the park., pu"s arent bad, nothing a clean channel and a good plexi pedal cant clean up. They are starting to surpass the players series and getting close to the higher end series, its just a matter of time
Totally agree.. I own 5 Classic Vibes LOL.. 50'S Telecaster..70's Starcaster...Mustang ..Jaguar and Jazzmaster... I'm addicted to them I think 🤔 LOL.. And I'm on the hunt for a used 50'S Stratocaster next ..hard to beat them for the price.. I'm in a garage band and my fellow mate bought a $1300 Fender HER Stratocaster MIM... and plays my Jazzmaster most of the night... wait till he sees what a $300 Classic Vibe Stratocaster is like 👍... LOL
I was thinking of buying a budget guitar, then I realize that I prefer playing this Squier over my Charvel made in japan, the quality is incredible. Even the floyd is good with a real steel block, very good guitar, and above all, perfect neck. My opinion, no issues on my model, everything perfect, also, I like the pick-ups, for me, they suit me perfectly.
picked up One of these recently brand new in the gunmetal on sale for $199 and I am absolutely blown away with the build quality. After a good setup and a couple custom saddle shims to match the bridge to the radius perfectly it plays phenomenally. But I actually found the bridge pickup a little thin and shrill and the neck pickup really boomy. So I think there might be some inconsistency and variation in the pickups from the factory. So I plan to swap an alnico 4 in the neck to tighten it up a bit and an alnico 8 in the bridge to fatten it up a lot and tame the highs. And this particular guitar is extremely resonate and lively, harmonics just jump out of it, it loves 80s metal. But Unfortunately the natural resonate frequency of it is right at G 12th fret in standard. The g notes just die out quickly on it and it follows that note around the neck no matter the tuning, just more noticable around the 12th. Had the exact same thing on an old charvel back in the 90s but it was the g# on it. This is a hell of a guitar for the money though.
@@sfu421 was on sale as "used" at proaudiostar. they're known to sell brand new stuff as "used" claiming it was a return so that they can sell below MAP. The one I received hadn't even been opened. Same with the "Used" gloss red PRS s2 standard 24 I ordered from them for a little over $900, it Also came in a Factory stapled sealed box and was brand new. But a "used" Squier Cabronita baritone I bought from them did have the box opened, but the guitar was still mint. So you don't know if you're getting an actual return or brand new till it arrives. But the out of the last 4 "used" things I bought from them all but one were still factory sealed.
4:40, are you using some kind of detuning effects... because it somehow sounds out of tune for the first 6 or 7 seconds... then it sounds ok in the arpeggios.... or is it the floyd bar? (cant really see it cause its all black and far from the camera) 😲
@Mark Seymour i have two guitars with FR special one is LTD M300 and other one is Jackson Demmelition Fury, both of them are greate in tuning stability and FR abuse, and as you said only difference are saddles and sustain block, even on FR website you can buy fairly cheap saddles from "1000" series and brass or whatever you want block. Honestly, this could be the substitute to the Jim Root's Charvel that I really want but I never wish to pay for a guitar that costs $2k (my currency) Nothing could go wrong with this guitar.
