I enjoyed your video very much. I've lived in Florida for 51 years but I was born and raised in Warren, Pa. near a lot of these knife makers cities. I own a lot of Case knives but the GEC are definitely a step above the Case, they are beautiful. I'm an old man now but still remember my first knife that hooked me. It was in 1959, it was my 10th birthday and my mom bought me the only thing I wanted, an official Cub Scout knife made by Camillus knives. I love that you and you dad share this wonderful hobby. My best to you both.
I'm just not sure in this video were I see a large disparity in quality between the two. It just sounded like the young man like the materials of the gec better than the case brand. Everyone has there opinion, and I respect that. I'm just not sure I see a huge gap in quality.
@@scottroberts4313 I wasn’t trying to bash any company in this video just showing the differences but if you have a case and a gec right next to each other with a blindfold on you will be able to tell straight away. Thanks for watching.
GEC knives are very well made, and in my opinion, worth the price. I just wish that they could keep some of my favorites in constant production. I would love for them to make more of their pocket knives in 440C stainless steel for those of us who live in hot and humid climates. Thanks for sharing.
GPKnives is from my old hometown in Illinois. The symbol on the main blade is from an old Indian legend from that area, it is called the Piasa bird. The Piasa bird was drawn by prehistoric Indians on the bluffs of the Mississippi River up by Alton, Illinois. The drawing has been preserved and is maintained to this day on the bluffs north of Alton and can be seen off of Route 3. ( It is pronounced Pie Uh Saw, in case you’re wondering). The legend of the Piasa bird was that of a predatory bird that would swoop down and take an unsuspecting person for dinner, if I remember correctly.
I sure like that BigDaddy Barlow..Just perfect to carry on the side while in the field or travel..Perfect Edc..especially with one of y"all slips..Perfect

@@dcrickerson7611 thanks for stopping by. And cool story
Great video, that 1/2 on the end of the pattern number means it has a clip point blade, the ones with the spear point are just 62009
@@clem8fan thanks for the information
Great comparison between Case & GEC , I’d take those 1975’s over GEC any day.
@@danedwards8535 yea they are nice

Impressive collection of Barlows, but more impressive is your knowledge of them.

Very cool my friend
Nice collection!! I have a 6.5 that I wouldn’t trade for any of those. That being said, it’s the only Barlow I own so you got some winners there!!
Thanks Crawford! You really have some wonderful knives. Great video. I really look forward to meeting you, your dad, and your grandad in Ellaville!

Nice knives, I’m a case guy myself. Can’t seem to get my hands on gec. Thanks for the videos!

The 6143 is a little pricey. I looked on eBay.
2019 was a good year. 2002 was baaaad. And 2024 was okay, mostly off.
What do you typically use to oil/wax your gec knives?
@@MM13749 rem oil, 3 in 1, CLP. Apply in rag and soak rag in it and use the same rag over and over
