- Hi guys, welcome back to the channel, so here is my Classic Mini Van, this is a project for the futire of Simpson's Classics so stay tuned for this one. I have done a walkaround of the car as so many of you wanted to check it out, so here it is my 1980 Mini Van, enjoy!

Thanks Hadyn plan is to clear the workshop of some jobs and then get it over to the welding side of the workshop ready for some work. Stay tuned in the coming months

The colour is linden green. ICI PO31. I have one with the colour sticker under the dash rail.

Vans are super rare here in America. There is one local a guy is selling but it very expensive. Super jealous you have one :)

Marc, - Just a tip for anyone wanted to remove enamel hand- sign writing for good paint without damage: Firstly soak the writing liberally using an “oven pad”, leave several hours to react then rub-off sign writing and pad cream and finish with a good T-cut. Works a treat…😊
Oh Marc, what a memory! (My Dad thought me to drive in 1971 his almost identical mini delivery van, (including the vent cap in the roof!)) my first car was also a (1963) mini and to top it all, I’m also a retired Manager for Southern Electric! Great choice Marc! 👍

Very nice project! Cant wait for it to get started. I am working on a similair Van project so its good to keep motivated. Nice period color, would not change anything to extreme. Nice classic look, with your own signwriting on it.

So I was about to watch another video of the Volvo 940 and stumbled upon this beauty. I absolutely love this van! I see great potential for it. I'd definitely keep the stickers on the back window. Just seeing all the cars in your shop, it makes me really excited for future content! 🚗

Yeah the mini van , my older sister
had one in her student days we
lived in " Barnet" so different
nowadays barnet is now part of
London , the van was darkblue or
black. she dumped it in a London
Street , she said it needed work &
she had very little money sadly.
So what is a reasonable price
for a mini not needing to much
work ? I would consider doing
Customers cars first & getting
them out of the workshop then
continue inbetween job work on
your personal project , as the saying
goes, never bite off more than you
can chew . but l take my hat off to
you sir. for saving minis, l love ' em😳😨😱
Sound like loads of people have nice memories of a mini van which is so cool. I would say a half decent running driving mini these days is going to cost at least 3k upwards from looking at the market.
The plan is to keep going with the projects we have for sure but wanted to bring this one to you all as so many people ask about it 👍 thank you for you watching 😎

With that colour scheme it wouldn't look out of place on Heartbeat. I like that you're going to go subtle with it and not an over the top garish build, that would spoil it in my opinion.

It’s not to bad really seen a lot worse just a shame about the roof. It’s definitely in a better place now. The paint polishes up really nicely to be fair I will show the little part I have done at some point 👍

Awesome to see the van on the channel! I've always wanted to know more on this van. I love the idea of keeping it (mostly) original with the colour scheme etc.
The hand painted sign writing on the side will look great as well! The Mini van will always be a dream car for me. So many people in my family had them new in the 60s. My grandad had a really early 1960/61 example which still exists today! Can't wait to see it finished. Hopefully ill be able to live the dream of owning one eventually, just need to finish my projects first haha..

Glad you like it buddy yes I literally saw a corner of it when I said yes to buying it all those years back. It will basically look the same with some period changes.

What a cracking van Marc. Really looks like an amazing project and great you’ll be keeping the original pressed grille. I hate seeing vans and pickups with car grille. I noticed the early chrome sliding window controls .. hen’s teeth and really expensive if you can find them.
Thanks buddy I wanted to share it as so many people have been asking about it. Yes it’s basically going to look the same just with some reverse steels and my name on the side. Can’t wait to get cracking on it. Yes the drivers door came with them and I have found some more to go on the passenger door as I find them much better than the plastic ones
@@SimpsonsClassics sound good .. love the spec you’re going with. I did the same thing with my windows .. I scrapped a 61 Austin Seven about 25 year ago but kept all the rare bits for future use

About time!!! haha ive been at you for ages to find out more... I love it man. Its a little slice of heritage right there. It looks like an honest example. that driver seat looks like an old Herring bone pattern HL seat, the vinyl might be a dark brown... Love it man :) i can just imagine it with some tasteful signwriting and period styling. EPIC!!!
Haha yes I know buddy so wanted to let people see it as I get some many questions about it. It’s definitely a honest little thing I fell in love which it when I first saw it. Yes being a late van those would have been in it. But unfortunately only have one seat and it’s a mess I have plans for what I want in there to be I keeping with the looks etc so stay tuned. Honestly can’t wait to do this one but we will get there one day 👍

@@SimpsonsClassics yeah i resonated with you when you said its good to do something different to feel rereshed when working on the minis again. loving the volvo stuff, the engineering at that period is just amazing, i think i was born in the wrong era haha

They do pop up from time to time cheaper but do understand the prices are high now.
