    I just bought this model for full time rv. I’m pulling it with my Tacoma and it does great with the weight distribution hitch. Plenty of room for me and my gear. Very well insulated but I did add window insulation. Overall I give it a A for my needs.

    What a great option for folks who don't want to have to upgrade to bigger tow vehicle. I like how the storage above the bed is not open, and I like the stable steps. I would replace the window in the door to a full viewing window with a shade. Something else to consider from a cost conscious point of view, you could keep this one in your driveway and not have to pay storage fees. Appreciate the roof view w/no latter. Thanks Nerd!

    nice trailer for sure. I would miss the oven though. I realize a lot of folks rarely or never use it but we do use ours a lot. Also disappointing to hear that the gas/electric fridge is disappearing to be replaced with 12V. Our previous trailer had a 12volt, and while it was spacious, it was terrible off grid. A lot of manufacturers are now putting 200 watts or so of solar to try and make up for that, but that will not even cover the 12volt fridge power usage unless you are in perfect sunlight. Get a bit of shade or cloud and forget it. Having had a 12volt for several years, we are so happy to be back with the Dometic gas/electric. only 8 and a bit cubic feet instead of 10.7, but the slight give away in volume is way worth it in power savings if you camp off grid....great review, and as Always, safe travels.....

    Nice singles/couple camper. It would be perfect it they reworked that bedroom to accommodate friend travel with twin beds, similar to the ones in vans that can become a king.
    It reminds me of the Vista 23TWS, although that has a split bath, which offers more size, or at least a feeling of size, to it.
    I wouldn't use a tv in a bedroom. I have 1 tv, in the living area of my home. Bedrooms are for peace and quiet.

    My daughter has a Nano 192RBS and it has been a very reliable bare bones entry level trailer and the 2 way fridge has been awesome for their off grid camping, but it does lack a 3 burner cooktop, a porcelain toilet, a decent bathroom fan, a TV, 2 propane tanks and an attached ladder, but it appears that they are making steady improvements👍

    A very unique layout, love the rear dinette with all the windows and the extra counter/cupboard space in the kitchen! I think I would swap out that jackknife sofa for a hideabed, assuming the slide could accommodate the weight. I wish the Apex Nano website had further specs, like the width of the sofa and the size of the bed (hint hint).

    So here's a weird question for you: If your max tow capacity is 6385 and you just didn't load this camper to it's 7000 lb max (For example, you only loaded it up to 5100 lbs-80% of the tow vehicles max) would you be considered "overweight" because of what the camper CAN hold instead of the actual weight that you kept down below your tow vehicle's max? Also, is there a version of this that doesn't have the slide?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Рік тому +2

      Technically you're not legal as I understand it (though I could be wrong there). As far as I know you're required to be able to handle a trailer's GVWR
      Best way it was explained to me is imagine you do get into some kind of accident. If the reporting officer checks the tags on the trailer vs. the vehicle, then they'll see it was overloaded. They're not going to care how much cargo you say you didn't bring.
      Made enough sense to me

    The Apex Nano series is a very nice line. They MUST add ducted A/C for the larger units. There's no way the A/C will reach the bedroom if you have a guest and the curtain is closed. Not to mention, the non-ducted A/C units are incredibly loud. Sadly, I crossed the entire line off my list for consideration because of this and the very tight toilet. The 221RLS is a very nice unit as well.

    We have the 2022 of this camper and love it. Disappointing to hear they are getting rid of thr gas/electric fridge. Literally why we looked at Apex over other brands was because they still had that option. I can speak from experience even with a solar panel and a good battery set up (200 Amp lithium) when you are using the water pump, fans, lights and charging phones it's a life safer that your fridge runs off propane. If you are in a wooded area you'd need a generator which is noisy and smells bad because the solar panel wouldn't be able to keep up.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Рік тому +1

    Take out the slide and sofa. Enlarge the bathroom and add more storage, perhaps a broom/coat closet and a pantry. Then you would have something. As to towability, this one is within 100 pounds or so of my 2020 Freedom Express 204RD. I pull it with a 2014 Chevy Silverado, 5.3 liter engine, 6 speed transmission, 1,734 pound payload. A 6,000 trailer is absolutely the biggest thing that I would ever pull with a half ton truck. There are times that I wish I had a 3/4 ton. To be honest, I think it is a little irresponsible to suggest that you could pull a trailer this heavy with a mid-sized truck. Of course, I live in the mountains and have to pull the trailer uphill almost every direction I go, so maybe a mid-sized truck would work in the flat lands. This is based on my actual experience. Before I bought the Chevy I had a Ram with the hemi, but it only had 1,176 pounds of payload. Both trucks would get the trailer up the mountain, but I worry about overheating the transmission. That's a 4,000 foot climb, to 10,000 feet elevation, in about 15 miles. That's not something that you could do with a mid-sized truck.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

    This one will work great for your Aunt Agnus (who you don’t want to stay in the house) on the Christmas holiday or your mother-in-law. Josh don’t quit your day job because you can’t carry a tune in a bucket like me lol. This one has more kitchen counter space than the Gray Wolf/Black Label. Stay warm & snow free😅

    Hey Josh, do you or can you say which travel trailer you prefer....coachmen freedom express 20se, or jayco 212qb....I've watched both your factory tour and it's a tough call....any advice be great....Steve

      Man.. I'm normally crazy sweet on freedom express but I don't think that 20SE is their best work.
      For a solo person and a cozy couple I think it would be OK.
      But between the two the 212QB kinda gets me

    Josh can you suggest 2-3 floor plans for a family of 6 that can be towed by my 2017 ford Expedition? Payload 1500 and towing capacity of 9200. I would prefer Nothing over 5500 pounds or so. My number 1 choice right now is the grand design transcend xplor 247bh. Got any other suggestions?

    • @cullinan18
      @cullinan18 Рік тому

      If you're planning on hauling all your family in the Expy, its 1,500 payload will be gone long before you have much over a popup camper. I have a 2017 Expy, tow a GD Imagine 2400BH and often split the family into 2 vehicles to stay under payload max.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  Рік тому +2

      Cullinan18 is on point. The payload capacity is your limiting factor - not the dry weight of the RV or towing capacity
      Of that 1500lb payload subtract all of the body weight of the family, THEN look at RVs with acceptable hitch weights in the remaining range (and try to leave as much of a buffer as possible!)
      So with that in mind here's a few things to maybe spark some ideas but again -- please check some specs first as I can't guarantee these are going to fit properly/safely:

      ► Grey Wolf 22MKSE: bit.ly/3eJU0eL
