    This thing is pretty sweet. I would personally have got rid of the weird tiny cubicles under the bed, and rearranged the storage just a bit to give space back to the passthrough. Thinking about it the sink is not that big of a deal to me outside as I can do my dishes inside after we go in for the night. Lastly, those countertops. Every time I see them they look broken. Trippy.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 роки тому

      A few people mentioned the same “counter top looks broken” thing. When I get consistent feedback like that I can direct it to the factory. Ty

    I think I'd hold off on this one in favor of the 266 BHS. Sure, the 266 is $1400 more (MSRP), but the layout is more whole-family-stuck-inside-on-a-rainy-day friendly. Also, the bathroom is bigger, and it has dual entry. Same GVWRs, but the 266 BHS gives up some CCC because it's two feet longer and a tad heavier. Just my $.02

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 роки тому +1

      Fair!! That’s why they make so many variant layouts

    • @robert_rice
      @robert_rice 2 роки тому

      I like the 266 also. Spacious bathroom and open bunks. However, with the slide in it divides the camper in two. Can't access the bathroom from the bunk-side and can't access the rest of the camper from the bedroom. So if you park in a free spot, where the slide has to stay in, you're walking outside to get to your kids or they're walking outside and through your bedroom to get to the bathroom. That's the only negative I see to that floorplan.

    I could see little TV trays in the side pocket by the sofa. Those could be used for snack time in front of the TV on rainy day or use them when the owner's bed is up for whatever.
    I really like the location of the kitchen as that L shape. Thank you for the cargo on the bunk info. Never thought about it but that makes total sense.

    I'm pretty sure these are also factory ready for the slide awning if that is something you are planning to add. Love the Apex line. We are expecting to get our Freedom Express in the spring, as long as the price increases don't drive it out of range, and the Apex was our second choice.

      @Josh the RV Nerd at Bish's RV was originally looking at the keystone Springdale 280bh, but between what I have heard about keystone as of late and it being too much for my 1/2 ton I'm looking HARD at the 261bh!
      Old or new it's a pretty sweet floor plan with or without the slider. I DEFINITELY prefer the room of the slider and I'm hoping for a 2023 261bh by next season.

    I like this model. I would prefer to have a free floating table for the dinette. For my situation I don't need the bunks but would love to have a washer dryer/ laundry room in that spot or a really big bathroom. Overall it's very nice for a bunkhouse. Also I really like the underbed storage....that seems pretty unique. One last critique is I would like the awning to cover the outside kkitchen

    Almost a perfect layout. The toilet placement could be more centered. As for the bathroom door, I feel like they could have implemented a sliding door if they thought it out a bit more... or, just have it open outward, rather than inward. The countertop extension could also be more flush, instead of dropping down. As for the outside kitchen, I would rather have a sink with countertop space than a mini fridge, otherwise, just remove it all for extra storage.

    Uncle Josh can we get Coachmen to see the light on their APEX line and add a door blind too. Otherwise, this is an amazing unit that checks a lot of boxes.
    I am especially impressed with the bedroom design and it's versatility. I might just switch bathroom door out for a curtain, who knows. I'm fine with no sink in the outside kitchen as long as there is a spray port nearby

    What an amazing 1/2 ton layout. If I had the extra money, this would have been my pick! Well worth the extra bucks if you could afford it. My only regret is that I may be pushing the maximum load capacity of that bunk when I am in time out!

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

    Great possibilities but for a couples unit I would loose the bunk beds, expand the bath a bit and use the remaining space for storage. Also, I like the bottle opener near the door! I would loose the dinette and put a normal table and chairs. Love the true queen bed and the under bed storage.

    The only thing I could come up with that I would change is the counter extension in the kitchen. It really needs to be flush with the counters, not below it. Other than that, it’s great. True queen bed, oversized cargo bunks, nice size/weight for its class. I love the double Azdel with the aluminum framing. I think it’s really pretty too. I especially like the gray back.
    Love the new nerdisms too! Keep ‘‘em coming. Still waiting for the definictionary. At this rate, it’ll never be finished though.

    Outside shower? And looking at the pass thru storage, it it me : I would spray the floor and sides with a rubber style black paint. My thought process is to cut the humidity, if what you store there might be damp, like a rolled-up fake grass carpet...

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

      PRIVATE bunks? That's a little trickier because those all tend to be a bit bigger.
      There's certainly a few good options but these were the first two that popped into my head:

      One major difference factor I can share here though is RVs have LOW btu output burner in the back near those things. I'm not at all indicating what you're saying isn't a valid concern but these things don't cook like a professional range
