The coleslaw is actually dressed with apple cider vinegar which is refreshingly different from the typical mayo drenched variety. Pro tip from a Texan: make a pulled pork sandwich with the white bread, top with sauce, and slaw. Most of us Texans are anti-sauce with good bbq but I personally love saucing my bbq to balance the fattiness of the meat.

@@thebritstry My pleasure. I wish I were more well-traveled so that I could give a better answer. I live in New England (in Connecticut). The pizza in New Haven, CT is amazing, if not some of the best in the U.S (friendly-ish [Lol] rivals with New York City) New England style lobster rolls and clam chowder (cream broth based, also Rhode Island style which is clear broth, and Manhattan style which is tomato broth based), You've tried a bit of New Orleans (there's just SO much to try there, it's only the tip of the iceberg) I went there 5 years ago this weekend with my best friend who'd passed in November of '19. He lived in Chicago which is another amazing food city. We'd planned another trip to New Orleans, but we didn't make it. Just more reason for you to treat every day as if it were your last. Sorry, I didn't mean to get on that depressing tangent. Follow your passions, and eat well. Calories are temporary, memories are permanent. (Just made that up in my melancholy state. I like it. That's a good life motto I think. Lol.) Enjoy your journey, wherever it may take you.

You don't speak for all Texans, No we all won't wait in line for hours for food. I have literally never waited in a line like that for food, and never will.
I've had Franklin's, it was not the best I have ever had.
I'm convinced the people claiming it is the best ever, is the only way to rationalize to themselves it has to be the "best ever" after waiting for a ridiculously long time to eat it, your brain tries to make sense of it, when it makes no sense. Franklin's is a tourist trap BBQ place, I've eaten at plenty others that are better.

My two favorites right now are Goldee's in Ft Worth and Cattleack in Addison just outside Dallas. All their food is great across the board. There’s lots of great BBQ in Texas. Franklin is high quality, but I would only wait in line for more than 90 minutes again for one place: Snow’s in Lexington, TX. (Luckily, I used to live about 30 minutes away from that town, so I’ve had it a lot…) There are at least a couple dozen other extremely high-quality spots in Texas too. My favorites are the aforementioned Snow’s (Saturday only) Goldie’s and Heim BBQ in Ft.
