Thanks for the video. This was the most helpful video on this topic that I found. It definitely helped figure things out, even if my brand ended up being different and of course had a different cover.
At one time you could just replace the rubber blade, now you have to replace the entire assembly. It gets more challenging if the blades are hidden or the wiper arms don't easily pull away. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad to hear the video helped.
Thanks for the demo especially for the rear blades removal. I would rather use refills rather then trash the entire blade, just because the rubber portion is no longer able to perform its job! Hope to find a video regarding that as my 2009 has tabs at both ends to prevent the blade from moving either way.
There was a time when it was easy to just buy just the wiper refill alone, but at least in the US all I can find for my cars is the entire wiper kit. However an online search revealed several auto parts stores selling refills, so it seems you have company. Thank you for feedback and for watching.
I have the same issue. It seems a real waste and expense. I've replaced the whole kit but kept the old one as I'm going to have a play with it to see if I can buy a refill.
Thank you. I was about to take the Sawzall to it. I installed, with help of your video, a Bosch H 409 rear blade on a 2015 Prius. The mfr had 3 diagrams for instructions. Nothing about raising the cover over the drive arm at the bottom. Maybe only the Prius has that, but it's pretty critical for this regular maintenance job. (On mine the cover had to be spread apart to release it before lifting.)
Glad we spared the sawzall, but I know the frustration never being able to properly move the arm out of the way not only on the Prius but also my Mazda 3. Now it turns out my VW Golf is the way. Thank you for the feedback and for watching.
I replaced my front wipers blades with Rainex brand. But I didn't like them because it has a big block at the pivot point. I wanted to exchange them but I misplaced the receipt and PupBoys wasn't happy! So I'm stuck. I didn't do the rear and my rubber wasn't separating like yours, and mine is older!
Unfortunately this car spends too much time out doors with no overhead shelter. If you are lucky enough to garage both at home and work, your wipers will last longer. Thanks for commenting.
Excellent. Couldn’t have done it without you
