LOL - dumped them 2 years ago - moved all 600 files off their servers in step format and deleted it from my pc and abandoned my Autodesk account. FreeCad is not as good but you'll never have it taken away from you. For the paid customers that are running a business - the ones I know are dumping Fusion for a real 3d cad system.
@@IQWorkshop So was I and I still miss it - but I’ll never install another “free” Autodesk product again. They have pulled this stunt with many other packages in the past as I have since learned. As a hobbiest I’m not going to spend months coming up to speed on software only to have it turned off and set me back to square 1 again. Great rant by the way. Hope more people see the light as a result of it 🙂
Restricting free or affordable access to Fusion 360 will only lead to new companies producing affordable competition products. Autodesk then buys their competitors and immediately orphans the low cost product. It has been Autodesk's predatory business model to dominate the industry since it bought Generic CAD, nothing to see here, just rinse and repeat.
Thanks for the comment. I guess that's capitalism in a nutshell. The fact that a free version exists is pretty cool. I mean, I'm not aware of SolidWorks having a personal license. So what I get for $0 I am grateful for. My only hope is that personal licenses stick around for a long time to allow up-and-coming makers (like me) to have access to commercial-grade CAD/CAM. Only time will tell 👍

my non commercial version is done after 2 years ... and i have many projects and i can't work on now cause it's blocked ... i have to paid 400$ . I will be back on Solidworks soon i think ...
Why is this blocked? you should be able to renew without any issues. The only snag I found was you have to re-register and initiate the download to trigger the reactivation
@@drewtheclear yeah, that is a pain. You can make them read/readonly when you want to work on them, which is fine for me, but I can see where this would be a frustration

Piracy.. is the solution forward.. there is just a matter of time for people finding their way back into stealing it.. this is the reason why people turns to piracy.
@@IQWorkshop nah wouldnt recommend it either as its a pita.. I do recommend switching to Solidworks Maker edition - as its like 90 usd a year.. essentially cheaper than Adobe and slightly more expensive than fusion - but oh so powerful.
It doesn’t change anything. You are not going to get a cad package with simulations for $500 a year, so I don’t understand why you are complaining. It is a pretty solid cad software with cam for free and if you want more cam future you pay $500 a year. I challenge you to find anything in the market anywhere close to Fusion 360. Do we all hate Auto desk? Yes, but fusion 360 is the best free cad software in the market.
Shapr3d is nice but it is not parametric. As another commenter said, I'd also suggest Solidworks Maker edition at 90USD per year if you run Windows; best deal ever.
This ends fusion for my firm. The cloud is 10 times slower than local solve for us. professional engineers have massive computers just for this problem. On one project I might run 300 FEA. Fusion 360 is both the most intuitive software we have ever used and the most BS software because they won’t upgrade it to professional level software and they keep doing stupid crap like this.

It's coming, slowly it will evolve to be unusable unless you pay $2000 per month, backup your files often in format usable for other programs

I have freecad as a backup, but I have to admit I am hooked on f360s UI

I was close then also. They gave the stp format back and I stayed.
This seems to happen after they conduct a "survey".
I suspect they only let us have the features they've removed so the community will make all the tutorials for them
These features are not in the personal license so makes no difference to the maker community.
