I've been lighting for theatre and film for 30 years now and I love these videos, full of nugs! Trying to get my small production company off the ground in a city way up north in Canada so the people here can have some of the same opportunities we did back in Toronto. I've learned a ton from your videos over the years keep em coming!
You’re such a genius, Danny! Been trying to get a hold of you just to thank you for the inspiration, motivation and everything I’ve learned from you. A few years ago I never thought I’d be able to make a video like my last one, and it’s all because of you. And with this you’re giving me so much more. I watched the music video first, and my first thought was this is just insane and something I’ll never be able to achieve. Then watching this you make it feel more realistic. And what better thing is there, than letting people know it’s possible. Thanks again, dude!
So amazing... Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. It's almost too good to be true, but then it's... TRUE. Such a big inspiration to me, Danny! Hopefully our creative paths cross sometime! If you need help, holla at yo boy!
Every video of yours makes me a better filmmaker! If possible would love to know what fairy light net you used. Was a great use of practical in the space but a lot of amazon LEDs always flicker on me!?
Always appreciate your bts. Everything looked amazing. I had a silly little gear question. Did you use your black satin 1/4 for this or is that just something you save for docs or personal projects?
Hi Danny, first thank you for sharing this beatiful video. I want to ask, in the first scene that you showed, the lights in pos production are yellow but in the pre production they´re blue. This was color grading or you´ve changed the light temperature?
Hey Danny, love all the practical sources you used in this, great stuff man! I have a quick question. Are you shooting in Prores Raw or straight from the camera on Slog 3? Thanks!
Really stunning images. Just shows you don't need a metric tonne of kit to get great results. Have you used the FC-500B listed, by the way? Thinking of getting one, as it seems to be unbeatable value
love you danny appreciate the insight on the bts and I'm jealous that the bts itself looks like a fuckin movie ANYWAY. Also did you use your Nolan Blue lut to grade the blue portion in the beginning or did you use something else? I'm looking to grade my first narrative short soon the exact same way it's sick as hell. Mahalo Danny!.
How did you encounter noise within the camera? The scene already looks so dark and even though you use a Full frame sensor I would assume there must be a ton of noise.
@@DannyGevirtz How is that possible in such a dark scenery? :D Of course you would try to overexpose to bring down the shadows in post, but even with a high aperture it's hard to believe there was no noise. I'm very curious, maybe you can make a video about it one day. Cheers mate and great work as always!
Currently in the midst of pre-pro insanity on a new project and needed this little Gevirtz-pick-me-up! Thanks, brother!
Glad it helped man! Thanks!
Same here!
@@DannyGevirtz do you tend to film in Pro Res Raw or stick to the internal Codecs?
Continued to be impressed by how simple you make this look. Always putting out quality content, keep it up!
Thanks so much dude!
I would love to see an update on your current editing and color grading workflow.
Looks so good, man! Thanks so much for the experience and hospitality, we had an absolute blast being there!
Ay glad you made it into this man!
you need to talk about the color grading of this video, so amazing bro !

That shot 00:07 is actual insanity!! Did you go 30fps there? So dope.
Yeah I did!
@@DannyGevirtz you mad genius!

Hey Danny, love all the practical sources you used in this, great stuff man! I have a quick question. Are you shooting in Prores Raw or straight from the camera on Slog 3? Thanks!
Straight slog3!
Hey man, love seeing more lighting breakdowns! Your awesome. Boring camera settings question… are you shooting at ISO 800 or 12800
This was all iso 800
Really stunning images. Just shows you don't need a metric tonne of kit to get great results.
Have you used the FC-500B listed, by the way? Thinking of getting one, as it seems to be unbeatable value
Yeah I actually use it now to light my talking head videos on UA-cam. It’s a great light!
Crushed it
Thanks player
Carlos The Legend.
This gave me Joaquin Phoenix “Joker” vibes! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Exactly what we were going for haha!
Good stuff man. I want to ask how do you find the location? Do you pay them or they just let you use the place?
We had to pay them!
Looking forward to see the final music clip :) Guess you shot in Slog3. How do you tend to expose it? ETTR? You ever used SmallHD EL Zone?
I honestly just do what looks good to my eye on the monitor
Might sometimes be the best :)

Dear Danny ! What is the name of the song at minute 7:14? Thank you very much
plz do a color breakdown for this! i love how it's colored. do u use power grades or you just know how to dial in a grade you like?
I do a color space transform to cineon log and use a Kodak lut inside resolve then just grade accordly!
ok, @@DannyGevirtz. thanks!
Hey Danny did you shoot this in S-LOG 3 or RAW? These shots look awesome!
All slog3!
Is the letterboxing here from being filmed in DCI 4k? Or was that added after the fact?
Astonishing - can I ask what color temp you shot at?
Shot at 4700k the whole video

How did you encounter noise within the camera? The scene already looks so dark and even though you use a Full frame sensor I would assume there must be a ton of noise.
Nope no noise. Didn’t need to push my iso.
