    My legs are healing. There is a lot less purple and red, and the swelling is going down. Still hurts like hell. It will be a week, or two, before they are healed enough for a street ride, a month before I go riding the back trails, which is funner, more exciting, and... perilous. Maybe a set of knee pads is in order before challenging Holly Springs road again? You know what they say, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." Right, tell thst to my knees. LOL! I'm still laughing about my wipe-out! Too bad there was no one to see it. It was epic! And I did my best Superman impression, flying through the air, to date. The landing wasn't so good, though.

    Hi Russ. Enjoyed the video. This is an FYI, nothing negative. August 2023 in Minnesota they passed an "Idaho Stop Law." which means bikes (ebikes are classified as bikes) do not have to stop at stop signs, but do have to slow down and yield if necessary. Traffic signals must be obeyed.

    What do you think about the Torque sensor ride. You seemed to think it worked and was fine. That’s my only concern about the Engwe. I like the bike.

    • @RussIsRight

      Some people like torque sensors and other do not. If you want to work out and ride like a regular bike, the torque sensor is the way to go. The cadence sensor is easier.

    I watched one review about the Engwe and the only thing he didn’t like was the motor cutting off at 20mph. If you wanted to go faster you would have to peddle. I’m up in the air about purchasing this bike.

    What about us short people that can’t ride those bikes. I got an XPeak and did some upgrades to it and now I’m trying to figure out how to ride it. I’m looking at getting a Engle Pro 2 with dual suspension. I’m short and it would be more comfortable for me based on your review. What do you think.

    The circadias come out every 13 to 17 years apparently. So not exactly an every 17 year thing.

    • @Nemonurwingy
      @Nemonurwingy 4 місяці тому +1

      There’s 15 different broods of periodic cicadas spread in different territories from Nebraska to the east coast. Most are 17 years (12 of the 15), though three are on 13 year cycles, but every generation is on the same cycle as their parents, they don’t alternate between 13 and 17. There are 17 year broods and 13 year broods, their offspring will be on those same schedules. And they will be exactly 13 or 17 years. This year a 13 year brood and a 17 year brood happen to be emerging in a small overlapping area near where Russ is. There are also cicadas that come out every year, but that’s a different thing and in way fewer numbers.

    Hey Russ. I’m new to e-bikes. Do you have to adjust the gears while riding the D7? Not sure I understand how the gears work. Is gear shifting only necessary if you are using the throttle?

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  2 місяці тому +1

      If you are going up a hill and you want to pedal, you'll want to use a lower gear while pedaling up the hill. If you are on level ground and want to pedal, you'll want to use a higher gear if you are wanting to go faster while pedaling. For pedaling, you also have what is called PAS (pedal assist from the motor). The PAS level determines how much the motor helps you as you pedal. A low PAS number has very small amount of motor help. A higher PAS number means the motor is going to help you a lot more as you pedal. This makes pedaling easier and you can go faster. There is also the kind of sensor for the motor to consider. A torque sensor means that you only get more motor assist IF you pedal harder. So if you were on the highest level of pedal assist but you pedaled very softly, you are going to move slowly. Pedal harder, the torque sensor will sense you are working harder and then will give you more motor assist. Cadence sensors means that no matter how hard you pedal, whatever the PAS level is set for, that's how much the motor will help you. So essentially, just move your legs slowly on the pedals and with PAS 5 on, you're going to be flying on that bike! It is a lot easier to ride a cadence sensor bike. You will work harder with a torque sensor, but many people want to feel like they are still getting a workout. Those people will want a torque sensor bike. For throttling, it doesn't matter what the gears are set for because it doesn't matter when throttling. However, some throttles are based on the PAS level. So for example, on some bikes if you have a peddle assist level for 3, then the throttle will only help move you to a certain mph. But on other bikes, even on PAS 1, full throttle means fastest speed no matter what the lower PAS level is set for.
