Cool video.. recently bought a 2002 Civic Si EP3 with only 102k original miles.. it’s just the stock K20a3 motor, but previous owner put a Short Ram intake, 4-2-1 Header, and full exhaust on it. Car also came with 17” KONI wheels on it. Sure it’s not the VTEC of a B18 GSR or even the VTEC kick of a plain old B16A, but with the full i/h/e bolt ons, the K20A3 isn’t bad at all. When you get over the 7200rpm redline, this thing has so much more torque than a B16

What causes it exactly? Just bought a 2002 Honda Civic Si (EP3) with 102k original miles.... but it’s got the airbag light stuck on
Matthew Wilson its the seat belt switch inside the belt buckle fastener . it could get stuck over time. I took it qpart and sprayed some contact cleaner on it and pressed it a couple times and stopped sticking. easy fix. Take it apart and click the seat belt in and u will see how. works.

It has a sensor in the seat so if you have something in your seat that weighs let's say 35 lb it thinks it's a child so it turns the airbag off

I want to get one of these as a weekend car and to match my 2004 RSX. Seeing as they are basically sister cars (mine is the base with the same K20a3).
The EP3 Si is Like a big brother to the honda fit which has a tiny 1.5L SOHC iVtec Engine...

It does well for being factory.
I am saving up monthly to get two cars, 2005 rx350 and a 2005 ep3 turbo. I need about 12,000 fpr both. I may just get an eg or a regualr civic tuebo if it comes to ot because i need thw Lexus Rx for work and it is more important. Wish i could finance both actually.
Just boost it. Then when it blows up either buy another a3 for cheap or buy a k24 for a little more money and have a boosted k24 💪
That DC5Guy u have any inexpensive turbo kits that you would reccomend?
Redline Ricer well I'm not even boosted yet but I do have a buddy with a boosted dc5 like me and he is running a cxracing turbo kit which will work for your car as well. Most complete bolt on kit in my opinion. You will need kpro so you can get your car tuned after its boosted. And I'm sure you know you will have to go with a bigger fuel pump and injectors.

Yeah i am planning to do a NA K24 Motor swap in my ep3.
I’m 16 with the 02 EP, and VTEC engages (only U.S. models) at 2300RPM. If you want your engagement higher, I suggest getting K20A2 heads. And you’re set👍🏽
Same man. I-VTEC kicks at 2200RPM and then VTC kicks at 4200RPM.
I also have an 02 ep3 but it says In the owners manual that the vtec engages at 6300 or something like that

Mrs Magik awesome! I use a gopro hero hd (it's like one of the cheapest gopros, but quality is still good) and I have it attached to a gopro suction cup mount, which I then attach to my sunroof. So when I look at the footage raw the video is actually upside down but I edit it to be flipped, and it only takes a click of a button and I'm all good. Hope that helped! And good luck.

Adan Tenorio it goes over the black. It’s an insert. It goes around the chrome Honda, and the red just fills in the black area on the logo. Just like a decal. I sold the car, this video is old, but thank you!

Jordan Price an all motor setup, probobaly no. Forced induction yes, I've heard of soem people with stock internals making like 315 crank
Redline Ricer has anyone actually ever _built_ an A3 before? Unless there's like no one who makes any internals for them regarding the block nor head.. I must assume that there's a limited amount before you have to go A2 head swap maybe? I've always been curious about this engine since I'm more of a H22 guy, but this one always had me wondering lol
Jordan Price you are correct, I'm not sure of anybody who has fully built an a3, they usually do the a2 head and build the head, or they do the k20 head with the k24 bottom end, and stuff! And by the way my friend used to own a last gen prelude with ofc the h22 and it was so fun man
Redline Ricer dude! Why not be the first to build a turbo A3? I'm pretty sure no one would expect a K20A3 to be fast anyways and I just did some research and it seems that there is support for the platform too!! I mean, unless you want to stay NA but dude, I think it can be done if you do want more than the standard stock turbo power like everyone else! I mean, just a suggestion lol..
Redline Ricer yeah I was gonna get one but Honda's can be very *_tricky_* to get insurance on so I got an Eclipse instead.. especially the Preludes cuz they are considered sports cars and Honda's are commonly stolen so often so I was like... Ehhhhh guess I'll find something else lol

What litre engine is that because everyone keeps saying k20a3 sucks but I have a 2.0 civic type s out here in London it runs 167hp stock so I reckon if I mod it I'll get so much more power I reckon you guys are modifying 1.6 version correct me if I'm wrong
k20a3 is 2.0 liter
Bleezy 29 yah the k20a3 has like “fake vtec” look it up to understand, compared to the k20a2 and a stock a2 makes 200hp compared to 167hp. The a2 would be the engine to mod out of the two.

I wouldn’t say fake VTEC. But more of a “diet” VTEC
So I just removed my a3 motor and installed a k24a1 block rebuilt new pistons and rings type s oil pump cylinder head k20a2 from a Rsx type s true v-tec head head was sent to the machine shop new valves skunk2 on a stock Rsx type s ecu programmed at the dealership transmission is k20a 6speed lsd 4.7 final drive wow now it’s feels like it should of been made here in the states in the states it’s just a si with a a3 motor in Uk they made manny more options type s and type r and even a 1.7 in a ep3 that’s crazy

really? back when i had a tiburon gt v6, i could easily beat my friends 5psd rsx (not a type s) yet when race my other friend's ep3 si, it would be a driver's race. both hondas were stock btw

How does the different shifter placement feel? It looks like it's awkwardly placed.
It actually feels great! It looks weird but it’s very close to the steering wheel so whej I used to track at auto cross it made it easy to shift
Dude this is a rally shifter high speed rally racing this is where they put the shifter it is not awkward it's a little too racy and Honda abandoned it after one generation

Lol depends if it's a matrix or corolla. Corolla would be a close race if your corolla has some bolt ons.
