  • In todays video i get to work transforming this brown solid wood 1970’s dresser and matching nightstands. I went with my favorite color Laurel woods by sherwin William with a natural waxed top. In went with gold handles to contrast off of the green and i think it turned out incredible.

    Glad you upgrade that shitty ryobi orbital sander. It has so much vibration that you have to wear a glove and even then you can’t do it for too long or you’ll have neuropathy…I’m sure with long term use you can even have permanent nerve damage. Ppl don’t think about ergonomics when they buy power tools, it’s so important to the health. It’s like spending $1,000 vs $200…it’s well worth since you’re going to sit on it for 8 hrs a day.

    • @CedarPineDesigns
      @CedarPineDesigns  Рік тому

      More ergonomic high end tools are definitely worth their weight in gold. Especially when it’s something that is used as often as a sander in this line of work. The brushless motor really does help eliminate the vibration a ton. Thank you for the input Brad. Take care!

    Just found your channel and love it. I have picked up my first dresser to refinish it and try flipping it. Just wondering about your primer and paint. Other then being water based so you can run it through your gun. Do you use any kind of special paint or anything for it being a piece of furniture?

    • @CedarPineDesigns
      @CedarPineDesigns  Рік тому

      Thank you so much for the compliment and support. I don’t use anything special as far as paint, I just like to get it with a built in primer. But if you sand to bare wood it’s always good to use a separate primer along with your paint. I always Finnish my paint with polyurethane to protect the piece as well as the paint.

    It's hard to believe that you could pay so little for such quality furniture. Today's market is crazy. I'm an old guy, so for me, when people started painting furniture like this a few years back, it freaked me out. The whole idea of building with various hardwoods was to capture and display their unique grain. I do like what you've done with honoring the old school tradition by redoing the top the way you did. I do have a home full of dark stained furniture, some of which I've inherited from my parents. I want to keep it, or at least modernize it so my family will want to keep it. Do you see any trends in the horizon with furniture. I'm ready for people to value fine furniture again, whose craftsmanship and wood quality are miles better than the crap young people prefer.

      Thank you so much for the compliment and sharing how you feel about my work and todays trends. I really love to keep some of its old charm and wood grain alive
