This video is perfect for what I was trying to do. I am making dishcloths for a Ravelry swap. I have always wondered how the girls I have swapped with did these borders. I sat down with my work and practiced this afternoon and finally got it! Now I am watching more of your videos! Its like a candy store for me!!! Thank you.
This was really helpful. I've never crochet a thing in my life but ended up with a lovely edge after watching this. One last question, however, how do you end the crochet work when you finish the square (in my case an afghan)?
Will adding this border fix the curling problem that happens when knitting only stockinette stitch? I forgot to add a border to my scarf and am hoping to avoid re-knitting it!
That was an exceptionally well done tutorial thank you, so slow and carefully explained, very nice. I have a question though. I am knitting two earflap hats one as the lining for the other and I was going to use this method for joining the two together. I was wondering how do I get a nice result around those inside corners? You showed beautifully how to do the outside corners I'm not sure what to do with those inside curves.
I would just skip the inner corner and the crochet edge should draw it in. Good news about the edge is that you can redo it easily since there are no live stitches.
Does it matter whether I have the wrong or the right side of the knitted piece towards me when sc?I find that my "braid" gets a bit off the edge and leaning towards the wrong side of my knitted piece, what am I doing wrong? :-/ I would like the "braid" from sc to lean towards the right side

Very helpful, thank you. I'm making a baby blanket to donate and wanted to do a brown border.

+Hannah M If you crochet several rows around the scarf it will stop the curling. One row will not be enough:(
Cut the yarn and pull it through the loop (stitch) on the crochet hook.
Ove how she explains slowly very well
How do you close off the last stitch of the border when you're done?

If I pick up however many boarder stitches I need with a circular needle, knit one row, and bind off as usual, will it produce the same effect?

TheNostalgicGirl Either is fine.
