This was the interview that made me decide to go into cybersecurity. I completed flight school and got my commercial pilot's license a while ago, but could no longer use it after getting in a car crash and no longer retain a Medical Certificate required for pilots. I wanted to help people, but was lost. I was inspired by this, along with growing frustration after someone close to me got hacked and lost very important things to them. I graduated a month ago with my degree in cybersecurity, and just got a job offer as a pen-tester today for my government. Thank you Gummo.
This is fucking awesome! I Lost my job not too long ago over some health issues and overall horrible luck, enrolled thereafter 4-days post in an online cyber sec course, began my 1-year cert roadmap & I am so into it all now & honestly its cool af! I love how immersed you can get into the academic side of it, you get to earn certs, you build a portfolio, you learn some coding I mean its self learning too which I enjoy & then at the end of this 1 year journey you get that great job. I Was not inspired by Gummo even though I like him as a changed individual I was motivated by the desire to never ever again have any financial hardships both for myself and my family. I Went from being in tears to creating a cert roadmap to enrolling to studying I am really doing this. Your story is very inspirational as well sorry about your flight career getting ruined. You are doing amazing now!
20-30 years ago people were making fun of IT nerds and hackers about being sociopaths and for their inability to take a normal conversation. Now a hacker begs people to talk to each other. This is how much the world's changed.
Coming out of a time when we all had to isolate for a year, that is an unfair assessment. Im betting this time next year, his kind will be begging us to bring back masks.
For the folks postulating that he “speaks like this on purpose in order to appear smarter”, he has spoken on his Twitter before about having medical tests and exploring a possible issue causing stuttering and slurring. It’s a medical issue, so please stop assigning nefarious intent to something he has no control over.
I'm very similar to his speech pattern. For me, it's trying to think before I speak and talk at the same time, along with trying to say things in a way I think others will understand.
He speaks like this as his mind is in the computer. By that I mean his mind is so focused on his work world that his mind is there constantly so communicating with someone takes a lot of brain power that is already being utilised. Nothing wrong with this guy he is just 110% focussed.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🔥🔥🔥🔥
By far one of the most interesting humans I've had the pleasure of being introduced to on your channel Mark! Great content! Thank you for your hard work.
Living in a car, mother dies, ends up in absolute poverty. This man was destined for the side of life that 99.9% of people with nothing going for them end up. Instead ends up a billionaire and recognises his own skills and is a very humble man. What a legend.
I was amazed that he was able to attract a wife while homeless, and gain the acceptance of her parents. His mind seem to defy convention. Meanwhile, whistle blowers are treated as international criminals.
Lets look at his whole picture. While he now works for good he did criminal acts before. It is what happened and the decisions he made from beginning to end that makes his journey interesting.
@@josephquinn2881People are more concerned about humble, than ability. The world got wimpy. My mechanic is a dick, but he does exclent work. I could care less about his demeanor.
I saw Gummo's first interview yesterday and this one today. Thank you for sharing your story and I hope you change your mind about this being your final interview here. We would ALL like to see and hear from you again.
This guy is a unit. Look how high most people regard sports stars, this guy is the real hero and most of the population couldn't comprehend what he does or even know his name
"You must know evil to face it and I am certainly not afraid to face any type of evil." What a warrior, so greatful for the work people like Gunmo do every day. Incredible interview!
Is there any proof that he's done what he says? I did a quick search on google, and many people, especially those in the hacking community, are incredibly skeptical of this guy and say that he's a liar.
NO FUCKING WAY!!! GUMMO IS THE REASON I STARTED WATCHING!!! This guy is so well spoken, so humble, and I aspire to have the charisma and confidence this man has. Absolutely incredible.
Gummer Please if you or anyone with good heart can help me, I am on the verge of suicide after being victimised for three years and I can't take another day, they have taken my life.
Gummo, if you happen to read these comments I just want to say in a world full of darkness it’s nice to know there are still people out there with a genuinely good heart. I could listen to your stories for hours. You are my favorite interview by far and I appreciate you telling your story.
My face actually lit up when I saw this in my feed. Gummo`s story is exceptional because of the humanity and humility that his beginnings taught him. From hardship and difficulty he has dedicated himself to helping others with the ultimate reward of integrity and self respect being his only goal. A fascinating, humble and selfless person that I would be happy to sit and talk to over a drink of his choice. I am sure many have unkind thoughts toward him completely unaware the he is a very very real weapon in himself should he choose to be. All respect to you Gummo and thank you Mark for asking him to return.
I was really into it until he said he has $7B in Bitcoin. LOL. That's like the kids in 5th grade whose dad is a astronaut that drives a different 5000 HP Ferrari everyday of the month, and had 19 girlfriends.
@@littlejackalo5326 he was mining Bitcoin in his office when it first came out and used the hardline that went straight to the server that powered one of the biggest skyscrapers in Chicago. I can believe it.
My aunt knew his mom. I told her about the video and she was so proud for him to have raised himself up to who he is now. She said his mom was the sweetest soul, so I can see where his good nature comes from. We wish you all the best gummo!
Really love this guy. He really wears his heart on his sleeve, and comes across as such an honest guy. I'd say he's a great motivational speaker. He could speak volumes to kids that don't do well in school, but have other passions. Leaving school in 7th grade, but self-taught doing what he loves. Absolute legend.
"Your heart is still good no matter how much you damage it. We are all born with good hearts and we should take advantage of that." Just wow. Excellent.
Yeah. Just saw this ted-talk with a grown up man bursting in tears talking about his childhood. He was set up and prepared for some kind of shool-shooting to release the pain by maximum damage and destruction. But he still had this one friend who showed up in time to treat him like a normal human being...so life turned out to be good and full of love to a whole group of humans, while many many more where safed from pain and misery. Nowadays he asked the crowed to please just talk to to each other and be kind. Same as gummo did this interview
I don't think we're ever going to see this man again, and in a way, I feel that's appropriate--he's like a guardian angel, working behind the scenes and always watching. Sending love to him and his family, and a thank you for all of his hard work.
The way he is talking about time, and the sadness he carried in this interview preoccupies me a little bit. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wonder if he is ok. It would be great if someone here knows if he's through any health issues. Incredible interview and personality, I really hope the best for him
What a beautiful person, I feel blessed that someone like Gummo is walking this earth. I am so happy that he found love at such a young age, and a beautiful wife who supported him and believed in him, and helped him to grow into such a wonderful man. God bless you both 🙏❤️
Wait, just realized…… Multi-Billionaire legally,…… also capable of accessing any amount of money possibly ever needed beyond that ……. I'd say he’s put himself in a pretty nice situation….
The absolutely most sad thing about this interview is the fact that he says more then once that this will be his last interview. I wish someday perhaps he will reconsider and keep us updated. Really appreciated his insight and perspective.
@@AdaptiveRider I outlined the specifics in my comment. At face value, the right words were used in the interview. But, there's nothing casual and spontaneous in the way he replies. And this insistence upon a last interview even though he's been nothing but praised, is curious. This isn't about privacy. He's on swu. Poor guy probably fears being lynched. At no time do his hands and legs, hang loose or open. That's studied and practised public speaking. I'm all for people beatifying him and hanging on to his last words but even he is a self described black hat hacker. Not grey nor white. All I've done is give him wiggle room, not condemnation. I'm not of the cancel mentality which places mere mortals on pedestals and then savagely lynches them when they find out otherwise.
Bro is too smart .. following along but leading the conversation at the same time. Giving us bits and pieces of knowledge but never incriminating himself.
That’s the one thing that I definitely don’t agree with. People are not born w/ good hearts. If they were there wouldn’t be so much chaos and evil in the world today. It’s almost as if you have to program the hearts from a young age. If not, the mind and heart will program itself to do evil. If you ever had a little kid of your own you would know what I’m talking about. While there lovely to be around they can be fucking diabolical at the same time if not taught correctly.
I had a few days of melancholy feelings and just told my husband I feel I have a bottomless cup that can't be filled. After watching the 2 interviews I feel my cup is full. Thank you!!! Thank you for sharing this with us! I hope my cup runs over to others!
I cried at the end when he talks about being validated by people reaching out via the interview, and you see how big his smile is. He's just brilliant, and so lovely.
This man has inspired me to pursue cyber security with good intent. I'm a broke teacher, LOVE teaching because it helps students so never focused on the paycheck. Now too old to teach. Considered cyber security as a new career to pay the bills, but Gummo has given more meaning to this career, will now pursue the career to make the world a better place too. Thank you Gummo. ♡
Mark humanizes these experiences so well. Gummo's is charming. His brain is a super computer that has been, lets be real here, keeping us safe from the unethical kinds. Gummo used his skills to survive some terrible times. Like a powerful Jedi, Gummo left the dark side and turned to protect us from the evil. Gummo is a superhero, WE ALL NEED. He is here for us. Thank you Gummo. Thank you for sharing your incredible story.
When he said this would be his last time coming on it was like a goodbye forever he knew heserved his purpose and did what he came to do. Truly humble person, unwilling to come back for any gratuitous ego stroking. God speed Gummo. Thank you.
Last time..I hope he is not terminally ill. If youre really perceptive, you can notice he seems bit off, physically and/or mentally, almost like he is tired or exhausted.I do hope he is fine.
Gummo, I'm sorry for the loss of your best friend. Thank you for taking time to do a follow up interview and share parts of yourself with such a large audience, you are so very appreciated. I hope you continue to live a life that you're happy in.
When he says he thinks 4 or 5 times before reacting... man, I haven't believed anything anyone has said about themselves as much as that. He exudes thoughtfulness. Just really really bright and patient and kind.
When he says that I truly thought that and agreed. This man is a genius. It's almost like he is autistic.in a "rain man sence" when he says ummmm in between every sentence I can see thousands of words running through his head. Like which ones best describe what I'm thinking. How can I articulate what's in my mind. And FUCK does he deliver. Very well spoken lad. Only 50 GUMMO let's see you knock down another 50 BIG DAWG. wish you the best player
I have to say, he's right about the commenters on your channel. The lack of trolls, the depth of empathy, the overall tone of respect, right in the middle of the cesspool that social media has become, is healing. Thank you. And thank you, Gummo, for making Florida, and the world, a better place.
Yeah, he’s generally impressive all around. Besides his huge intelligence, he could have become a digital supervillain but became a hero instead, even though he had “excuses” to go the other way all the way if he wanted. He’s a lil nerdy dude (not a street fighter) but this man is strong as hell.
@@tweedpenguin712 I definitely remember the 10 million. But I’m listening to this while I paint in houses and I don’t remember how he said he got it. Either way he still became a hero/learned from his ways right? That’s pretty much all you can do. If you KNEW you could steal $10mil rn tho? 🤷🏾♂️ worse crimes committed.
Gummo's original interview was my favorite, and my reason for continued viewership. This follow-up has of course been what I wanted the most. Gummo, you are cool as hell. Your story is so unique, but beyond that you carry an incredibly slick energy and presence. I've enjoyed your interviews greatly. Hope to see more from you, whatever that ends up being. And by the way, you've got a hell of a smile.

I’m 43, and I’ve been made fun of my entire life for speaking like him. I’m really glad there are people like him working for the greater good, so we can live our lives in a peace-of-mind state.
I stumbled on a thread about him and someone mentioned he has a podcast called the Hacker Podcast. It really does sound a lot like his voice! Just in case you wanted to hear more from him :)
Same. I think I've had people impatient with me because I talk like that too. Like making hand motions to get to the point lol. It's always people who talk a hundred miles an hour.
I'm 28 and also have been called slow for not talking fast enough or getting to the point right away. Sometimes if I don't already have a conversation planned out I'll hesitate on the words that I am trying to get out. It makes me feel "slow" because that's what people have always said and always point out. In high school I was known as a stoner and even today still have that problem though I don't smoke or get high and didn't back then either. Honestly, when I did smoke and get high it's because everyone always thought I was high anyway. I feel like I am slowly starting to find my group and my calling. It feels very good.

How good it is to see him again. He has become a truly Self-actualized man. He refers to everyone being born with a good heart - and even if you have damaged your heart, you still have a good heart underneath all those crimes.
I absolutely loved Gummo's story, glad to see him back in the hot seat lol. He's got this unique sense of charisma about him that would not be immediately evident at a first glance, but once he opens up he most certainly has a lot of wisdom to impart to Marks viewers.
I always start these videos thinking I’m going to watch 10 minutes of the episode (max) and then I always watch the whole thing 😭 each interview is so interesting
Thank you Gummo. My toxic male relatives taught themselves computer languages starting in the 70s and discouraged me from following suit despite programming and tech being really easy for me when I was very young. I fell asleep to the 1st interview lastnight for a few minutes and got a guitar out and played for the 1st time in a very very long time after being told awful things about my playing on my classical guitar which they didn't understand. In my mind the math, programming, music, and arts are in a similar place and this was awakened for the programming and guitar part, and for that I am truly grateful for helping sparkling a miracle.
The original interview was one of the most surprisingly interesting ones I’ve watched. I had seen the thumbnail pop up many times and passed on watching it thinking it would be boring. Once I finally did watch it, wow. He’s so intelligent, so informative, and he has a relaxing cadence when he speaks. So glad there’s a follow up!
You have a beautiful heart and a wonderful presence about you. I think so many of us get caught up in the arguing and disagreements of this world. Sometimes we forget like you said all of us share one core thing we come into this world with a good heart. Somehow we lose sight of that. I don't think anyone wants to see or hear about suffering of another person. I think at the end of the day there is good in all of us and if we could just practice finding that good and spreading it the world would be a better place. It's so nice to see and hear someone who still believes better will prevail. If we all could just treat each other as we want to be treated. It sounds so easy yet for some reason it seems so hard to achieve. I don't understand why. great interview!!!
Wow. I did the same thing, thinking I have no interest in tech & this would not interest me. Omg . This man is amazing. I’ve watched his interviews multiple times and each time I’m still in awe. The way his brain works along w/ his intellect & will to figure things out amazes me.
Gummo, feels like a safe place and an old friend. So humble and genuine. What a great experience to hear his interviews! I grew up on the Westside of Jacksonville. What a small world it really is! Much love to Gummo❤
I enjoy listening to Gummo speak so intelligently, yet so humbly. I feel like he has a heart of gold, which I've found few and far between these days. I live one county over from Jacksonville, in Florida. I only hope that I may be blessed enough to meet him.
Gummo is easily my favorite interview on this channel, and trust me, that's saying a lot because I've seen almost every interview and many have touched me or brought a river of tears as they touched a nerve from my past. Gummo is an inspiration for me. My father passed from a heroin overdose back in 1975 when I was nine years old. I found him dead on the bathroom floor with the syringe still dangling from his arm. My brother Danny passed from a heroin overdose many years later. In July 2020, my wife passed from a fentanyl overdose. We had been married for thirty-two years. Literally fours after my father passed away, my mother moved us three boys into her boyfriends house. She was working as an escort and her boyfriend sold massive amounts of cocaine and I couldn't begin to list all the tragedies I've witnessed and lived through. I went to twenty-seven schools from fourth grade through twelfth grade to stay a step ahead of the law who would always find the trail of cocaine. My mother and her boyfriend had us three boys near death with all the drugs they were providing us. I met my wife when I was twenty-one and we had our first child and after my mother chose her piece of shit boyfriend over her meeting her granddaughter for the very first time I decided then and there to walk and i did. I haven't spoken to me mother in over thirty-three years. I thought for sure I was going to be dead soon . Here's where Gummo first broke through to me.. he mentioned in the first video that when he met his girlfriends parents that finally for the first time someone believed in him and he became choked up. It was my then future father-in-law that believed in me and helped guide me through the next few years and ultimately led to a great career in IT in federal service. Unfortunately my past was never far behind and I continued using drugs but I was mostly functional and was able to give my wife and children a life that I could have only dreamed of as a kid. My wife has passed away now and the kids are all gone a married and now at age fifty-five I am alone and devastated. I am aloe retired and have very little human interaction any more. I am going to sit here sad and alone in a state with no friends but I wanted to thank Gummo and Mark for sharing Gummo's story with me. Just that One little comment Gummo made about just one person believing in you is all it takes ...hit me like a ton of bricks and I'm crying all over again watching it for the fiftieth time. Thank you very much
I hope you're doing better now. I've endured a lot in my life but not even close to anything on your story. Don't stop beliving on yourself, things will get better. Greetings from Brazil.
That was such a heavy emotional experience for him. You could see how hard his mind was working trying to decipher complex thoughts into words. Thanks for opening up your soul for us to hear Gummo.
What's fascinating about him is how self-aware and emotionally intelligent he is. He's very aware of perception and is an expert communicator. He's the reason why I decided to learn tech last year. First it was Linux and some coding and now I'm doing security. Pretty badass
This! This is the comment I was hoping to see under an interview like this! Good on ya, enjoy your journey and be an inspiration to people who were like you from 2 years ago :)
@@Cookie4XO not in the field, but interested in it and been adjacent to it. There's not just one way into it. If you're interested, look into pretty much anything tech related you can think of followed by "security" and there's a podcast, blog post or something detailing what you need. If not today, then in the future, there's gonna be enough specialization that you can find a way in. You wanna do physical pen testing? Lockpicking might be a way in, or social engineering. Want to do web security? Look into cross-scripting. Want to do red team/blue team? Any venue you've ever heard of can be a venue into it. If you can't think of anything, I'd recommend the backlogs of the podcasts Darknet Diaries and Malicious Life, personally I think they do a great job at painting a picture of how broad cybersec is.

Just keep moving forward and hope your recovery will get back flying!!

20-30 years ago people were making fun of IT nerds and hackers about being sociopaths and for their inability to take a normal conversation. Now a hacker begs people to talk to each other. This is how much the world's changed.
You are extremely delusional

For the folks postulating that he “speaks like this on purpose in order to appear smarter”, he has spoken on his Twitter before about having medical tests and exploring a possible issue causing stuttering and slurring. It’s a medical issue, so please stop assigning nefarious intent to something he has no control over.
The most comments fortunately just seem grateful for him speaking :)
I'm very similar to his speech pattern. For me, it's trying to think before I speak and talk at the same time, along with trying to say things in a way I think others will understand.
When we consider each word and the viability of its placement within our speech..this is the result..its thoughful words being spoken thats all

Wish l could too!
We must be neighbors! #duval

Thank you very much
Thank you for sharing your incredible story. The adversity you overcame is astounding. Stay strong, Sir!
Well, if you want to, you have a friend here. 45 years old and also alone.
Always here if you need a friend. Just ask!
I hope you're doing better now. I've endured a lot in my life but not even close to anything on your story. Don't stop beliving on yourself, things will get better. Greetings from Brazil.
Dear Lord. I wish I lived closer to you to take u out and hang out with u... U jewel. How come u r already retired and this young?
Amazing person I could listen to forever.
“We are all born with good hearts “ such a simple phrase but means so much.
Not true tho
Every person is born with a great capacity for good and evil.

I could listen to him read the dictionary. What a marvelous human. Thank you for both heartbreaking and heartwarming interviews.❤
That was such a heavy emotional experience for him. You could see how hard his mind was working trying to decipher complex thoughts into words. Thanks for opening up your soul for us to hear Gummo.
Hands down my favorite interviewee. I feel like I could hang with Gummo and there would never be a dull moment. Thank you Mark and Gummo for these!
How did you learn? What are the first steps?
@@Cookie4XOfacts
Hell yeah. Keep it up!
The first and this one interviews with Gummo have been two of the best I have seen in Soft White Underbelly. Thank you!
What a brilliant mind. It's overwhelmingly fascinating to hear him speak. Good to see him helping others and using his talents in a positive light. Props to you Gummo and to Mark for the terrific content on this channel.
I usually read the comments as I listen to the interviews. Gummo however had me completely captivated! Thank you Sir for sharing your story with us! The world needs more like you!
Well done, Mark!!!
I am a 23 year old guy from across the ocean. I started watching your channel after seeing your first video with Gummo. I've always been interested in tech and computers, but his perspective on the matter made me want to start learning about cybersecurity and coding. I am still a newby at the field, but I want to expand my knowledge and learn as much as possible. I majored in English literature in college, so I have zero to no actual knowledge when it comes to the computer science, but I am determined to make something of myself. Thank you Gummo. You are a good man.
Please if you or anyone with good heart can help me, I am on the verge of suicide after being victimised for three years and I can't take another day, they have taken my life.
I don’t want this interview to end. I could listen to him for hours.
This is, by far, my favorite. Thank you both. Gummo is articulate, but not to sound posh. His intelligence and expertise in cyber and physical security balanced with compassion for people and the drive to right what is morally wrong is inspiring.
That ending really hit... i 1000% agree with what he said. "Find your heart like i found mine, once you do, you will realize the things you've done aggressively". That hurt to hear.
Such a beautiful caring and kind soul. I could listen to his stories for the rest of my life and never get bored of hearing them. I can't count how many times I've watched his first interview. He's just.... Amazing. Inspiring. Uplifting..... I could go on and on. I think of him often. So happy to see this pop up today.
So was l ! That's a true MAN and fabulous human being. My fave interview! GO GUMMO!
One of the most powerful interviews I’ve ever watched. This person has so much energy and personal willingness to help others. I wish there were more people like him in this world. ❤
Thank you SWU for this interview and the one before it. Gummo is a breath of fresh air in these crazy times we all share. One immediately can tell he speaks from his heart, yet you can sense an underlying pain he still carries from some of the shit he's gone through and survived. I was glued to the set during both interviews. Keep up the good fight Gummo, and thank you!
I always wanted to have a website for my horse racing tips, after watching gummy’s interview I decided to go for it and learn how to build one, as a forty year old it was daunting but today I have over 250 members and growing daily. It’s nothing flash but I get the results which had allowed me as a full time single father to feed my son, hopefully one day soon to do more.
You are an inspiration mate and thanks for helping to give me the balls to have a go and in turn helping me learn some new skills ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I’ve waited for an update for ages!!

He‘s so riveting and exudes so much clear intelligence it‘s almost frightening. I‘m in awe of Gummo and can‘t even imagine the ICEBERG of achievements he will never talk about. Truly legendary… meeting him in person would be a religious experience for me I think.
perfectly put! He is absolutly mesmerizing on every front
I believed this guy till he said he had 7 billion in bitcoin🤡
@@TheAlbin0zebra he does
@@TheAlbin0zebra first time I heard of btc was in 2010. Probably much later than Gummo. If I would have put 10k in at that time it would be worth 5 billion. Pretty reasonable to think he’s got the stack to be honest.

This has been my favorite interview yet on SWU. What a brilliant guy. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This is by far my favorite person to be allowed to talk on SWU. Thank you Gummo, for sharing your insight and thoughts about the global portrait of our new generation
I love when he says we're all born with good hearts. That is such a beautiful sentiment. I truly believe the exact same thing. When we're surrounded by good people it makes us wealthy as individuals.
not according to some of the greatest minds the world has known. morality is learned, not instinctual.
@@ThomasWeissJr I would think that it is learned because of instinct. So instinct would be the ultimate cause. Isn't self preservation an instinct? Isn't compassion learned because of our desire to keep ourselves alive?
@@ThomasWeissJr well it seems dangerous to me to speak on behalf of those greatest minds because you read a few books at most or know some phrases, but i know there are people in this world that have no heart and have no emotions committing atrocious acts, and you wouldn't be able to tell who they were until the act, but gladly the majority of people do have a heart
Thank you, Gummo! Thank you for coming in again, and thank you for all of the things you do behind the scenes.
"I choose just to do the right thing...." another excellent interview. Thank you both for sharing.
I watched this before the first interview. I then went back and watched part one.

You must know evil to face it. So articulate and intelligent. Loved this interview.
"Find your heart." Best advice ever given. I have so much respect for this man. Thank you, Gummo. ❤
He's truly one of my favorite PEOPLE...total inspiration.
This guy is clearly a genius with a strong sense of morality. The fact that he is a billionaire, and still has this attitude makes everything even more insane..
