Coming back here to say this is the video that brought me to Christ. I was in a fairly low point of my life when I stumbled across it and the way Johnny spoke really opened my heart. I decided to visit a local church and to cut a long story short, for there onwards I've done the Alpha course, am in a fellowship group, and made an amazing new social circle of people who I genuinely connect with and enjoy spending time with both in and outside of church. This month, I am going to get baptised and will reference this video in my testimony. Truly life changing and I'm so glad I saw this video when I did. Thank you Johnny and Mark.
Jesus wasn't religious either. Religion is humanity's attempt to get to God, Jesus is God's attempt to get to us through Him (John 3:16). Jesus is literally the opposite of religion, He teaches us how to have a relationship with our Father in heaven through Him.

We get to know and have fellowship with God through seeking his word (Bible), prayer, faith and trust in him alone, not necessarily the demands of 'religion' which is the important distinction to make here. I grew up in similar circumstances albeit a little more psychotic and less crime related. I have no clue why, but I am one of few people from my environment that has made it to a point where I can be extremely self aware (sometimes to a debilitating degree) and I have to say most people i've met from similar backgrounds like old friends n shit have high emotional intelligence. The issue is that that intelligence is fucking useless to everybody around you in those areas. You can spend all day going down the rabbit hole on shit like why does my 4th grade teacher hit her students or why does my grandpa never say more than 5 words to me a day but the fact is when you speak up and try to have a conversation about these things no one listens to you. They reject you and put you down because they don't know how to deal with the emotional pain that causes them to behave in that manner. My approach was keeping it to myself and now the goal is to speak my mind more and help others speak theirs. This guy is an amazing example of that mentality to change and help others heal.
"If he saved you from your sins, and you still think you're a sinner, that must mean he failed, and he didn't." As a lifelong Christian, this opened my eyes. I never looked at my life from that viewpoint. Such a powerful testimony.

If you read this Johnny I just want to say thank you. My wife has had years of built up anger towards her dad because her father was physically and mentally abused by her dad when she was growing up. Fast forward to now her mother passed a few yrs ago so he’s alone and elderly so we go and check on him regularly and he was still angry and in denial about the abuse so I showed her your interview and it had her in tears. We’ll she took the same advice your pastor gave you and apologized and he broke down then she did as well. That was a huge breakthrough. So now we go to dinner on Sundays and they talk and spend time together regularly.
Johnny strikes me as an extremely intelligent, caring and considerate man. His ability to articulate his feelings is powerful and I hope the adversity he's endured has paved the way for his happiness and ability to be a good Father, lover and friend.
I believe it is better for people who had gone through adversities to stay childless. We will eventually relive similar circumstances that led to us being broken in the first place.
Man, when he started talking about the dinner table with his father. I couldn't stop crying. I literally had to wipe my glasses away. That was intense. That's the power of forgiveness.

Society has many stereotypes about manhood. Johnny’s apology to his father and the forgiveness that engendered is one of the most impressive expressions of true manhood I’ve ever seen.
For anybody who doest know why people get involved with drama from broken homes, it's todo with ptsd and the way a individual Handel's it, extroverted people may challenge the stress, this leads to addiction to thrills that inturn turns off the frontal cortex due to adrenaline being released that can last in the body for 3-4 days and while continuously being retrigged. The side effect of this is a inability to concentrate, remember, make complex racial decisions, and well effect the individuals ability to sleep causing myriad of additional side effects.
Have to say, this was the most well articulated argument about God and sin I’ve ever heard. As someone who isn’t a Christian or even from that background, I really felt this message.

Thats exactly what my husband says no home no food no $$$ shit dad illegal mom and he thrived through it all. He is starting his business real positive dude. I fucking love him. I had it all and was a miserable person. He taught me happiness is within myself and he pushed my ass to be my best self. Cant see my life without him.

Y'all need to stop saying that people are articulate like its some unique thing. The vast majority of criminals who make it to organised levels of crime are exceedingly intelligent. Either they dont have access to formal education or they dropped out for reasons of poverty, but any criminal you actually talk to is gonna have a good brain on them. Some of the things criminals come up with to avoid detection by police would make intelligence agencies impressed.

What a beautiful testimony of this man's journey. To learn of God's love, forgiveness, grace and Salvation is the hardest thing to believe at first because we are so flawed. It took me so long to trust God's Word over myself. Thankfully He won and I am His. Forever forgiven!

I am now 42 and I feel lost in my own thoughts and life just seems like I am going around in a circle. After watching this it gave me a little hope and I just want to say thank you. I might have to make that phone call to my father now just to free myself from this pain and burden I am feeling. Like you I grew up gang banging as well and my father was never in the picture. What a blessing you’ve given so many people, Johnny… I lived with an alcoholic father, in a chaotic household. When I was 22 years old, we met for dinner in S.F. where he lived. Conversation got around to mine and my sisters childhood. My dad apologized forc being a lousy father, and a lousy husband. A week later he died unexpectedly. He gave me a gift of apology, which really changed my life.
1:19 “I trusted myself a lot, because I felt like I couldn’t trust my parents.” This could make the huge difference in how a child subsequently makes some poor unfortunate choices. Parents must be a safe space for a child. Many blessings to this man. He has overcame so much.
I feel this. I grew up in a single-parent family and though I had a fairly happy childhood and had all the lovely adults around me, I also intensely feel that “I trusted myself a lot” the thing is, it doesn’t necessarily turn out in a bad way but for me, that “trust” in myself makes me quite a lonely person. I don’t know if I’m making any sense here but I feel that so emotionally intensely.

The asian gangbanger was able to get his power from god or ‘surrender’ and trust the pastor. It is because of that, he created a new possibility to emerge. What you are suggesting is what we all typically would do. Being right. And when we are right we are the only ones miserable. The key thing about forgiveness is that it is not for the other person, it is for you. It’s how you release all the negative feelings and emotions associated with those events. When you still label somebody a ‘fuck turd’ there is still a charge of energy there which means it is not gone. So you really have not resolved it. You swept it under the rug only to allow yourself to be triggered the next time in the future where anything that may remind you of it will cause you to burst out in anger. I get it. I was and sometimes am there. It is really hard. It takes courage and bravery. The hardest thing is when you do have the bravery and courage to forgive but the other party does NOT recognize or take responsibility for what they have done. That is a tough pill to swallow but to your point, that is life and not everybody takes responsibility. All people want is a sincere heartfelt apology. No bullshit pleasantries, etc. people know by our way of being if we are being truthful. We are not fools. If your hurting out there. I know we have not met, but on behalf of the person that hurt you, I am sorry….
This is by far one of my favorite episodes. He is such an incredible story teller and what a difference he is making for so many that can relate to his painful backstory. Happy he found self-love and forgiveness and a path forward to an amazing future.

I’m working on my recovery from alcohol and I always come back and recommend this to people. I’m not religious but going through AA and treatment, I try to be spiritual and this is such a good listen.

This interview is the best interview I’ve watched so far. His voice is soft spoken and draws you to him. Such an inspirational person and life story. Him talking about his Dad was riveting and such a tear jerker. Had it not been for his Mom and her needing that ride to church Johnny maybe would not be here to tell this story. My main take away on ALOT of these interviews is how IMPACTFUL a Father is in ALL of our lives, emotionally, spiritually and physically. The toll or the leadership is tangible coming from a father. I have two boys and I too Love Jesus with my whole heart, I still struggle everyday to be a good role model. This video will do so much for people.

He’s got something special. Not only does he have a crazy story, he is a perfect example of someone changing for the better. Lots of experience and knowledge to be passed down. He’s also very well spoken, and doesn’t hurt that he looks like a model. Hopefully he does more with this spotlight he has been given.

...I've done similar style interviews, and they interviewer ask a lot of questions. The story is developed post interview, during editing..it's definitely a professional process, with at least 2 or 3 other individuals in the room and a part of the final product...his team is good.
I felt this to the core. More than his articulation and storytelling, this is one of the very few stories on this channel that I didn't skip parts, not ONCE. More life to the Pastor, Johnny, his family and his own family he's creating.

This is one of the most impactful things I've ever watched. Pain is universal and inevitable, growth is not. We see so many versions of unresolved pain on this channel, but so few that grow from it and move on. Everything you do onto others, you do onto yourself and vice versa...it is human law. You must forgive others to forgive yourself. You must forgive yourself to forgive others. There is no other way. Thank you so much for that Johnny - you made a grown man cry the manliest of tears.
You're not obligated to forgive. As a matter of fact that's the last thing you need to shove down a victim's throat. Especially if they are needing help working through their trauma/injuries.
Heaven and Hell are real places... We can not hide our sins from God. Is your heart rightwith God? Jesus Christ loves you and He died for our sins. If you will REPENT of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and believe in the gospel, you will be saved and your name will be written into the Book of Life. I have done some things in my life that I am not proud of and I repent of my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that He arose from the grave and that He is alive today. I ask that you forgive me of my sins. I proclaim that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. AMEN...
@@louniece1650 you’re not obligated to forgive is fair to say. No one is. There is a clause to that though and that is if you come to God, forgiving others is essential and necessary. In the Lord’s Prayer of the Bible it says “forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed us”. This verse is basically saying “I will forgive others, would you please forgive me bc I have sinned”. Basically breaking down that verse, when it comes to knowing God and having a relationship with him, forgiving others would be a byproduct of our decision based on what Christ has done to forgive us. So yeah in that sense you will and should forgive others. It’s not being thrown down your throat. It’s making you face your demons and say it’s no one’s fault. It’s the victim saying to the attacker I’m going to release this spell and bitterness you have over me controlling my emotions in order to live my life freely without restraint so that I can have peace. Peace within myself and peace with God.
This is so crazy, I used to hangout with Johnny. I was a missionary in 1999 and 2000 in Alhambra, Johnny’s mom wanted us to spend time with him. His mother loved him so much, I remember searching for Johnny one night finding him at some kind of a video gaming place. I can’t believe this…. I think about Johnny almost everyday after I moved back home to Canada wondering how he made out, it’s so awesome to Johnny doing great. God bless my friend!!
In 1999 when I was a raver handing out flyers, I witnessed a Wah Ching stumbling out of a downtown rave with a knife still stuck to his stomach. Blood was everywhere. The violence is real in their world.

This was the best interview you have had Mark. JOHNNY IS AN INSPIRATION. The story of apologizing to the father who beat him really got inside me. When my father was dying I gave him a chance to apologize to me for beating me, which he could not do, instead he denied ever abusing me. He lied to me, to save his own face. But, If I had just been able to apologize to him instead it would have been so powerful and I know that would have enabled him to open his heart to me. When I go to bed tonight I will offer up my apologies to his spirit. I know it will help me release pain and anger I have carried inside for 67 years. Thank you Johnny. You are a great preacher. My parents would whip me if i am stubborn and hot headed because they do not want me to loose myself to the world. Today i would sit with my dad for a deep conversation/discussion every night on how to look after the whole household and how to increase our status. If they have not controlled me as i am stubborn and wild, i would be ending up in the street or be a h*e. I am thankful for my parents in raising me to be a great women.
Sorry to hear your story. But I have suffered a lot of childhood trauma as well from my narcissistic mother who I have got non contact with. But it's all about forgiveness. I've learned that you can forgive someone and you don't have to do it in person. So you can forgive someone even after they've passed and it's still very meaningful. I forgiven my mom and my father who have both been complete disappointments. But I have not done it in person just cuz I don't have the ability.

Clicked on the video just to listen to some gang stories on the background while working on some stuffs, 5 minutes in I'm glued in to the screen the whole time as this man tells his powerful story in the most eloquent and inspiring way possible. I cried.
Same here, wanted as my background as I work out. Instead I hear a reflective story of my family. Glad he got past his anger and excuses, am sure he read the Buddhist quote on anger.
I’m a silent subscriber. I never comment..however…this was absolutely powerful. This man got a second chance at life. I know he’s going to make an impact on whoever needs to hear his testimony. Even if he changes one life. I cried when he spoke about apologizing to his dad. I can relate in regards to that. I don’t have the best relationship with my mom. That part spoke to me and for the first time in my adult life I’m considering opening that line of communication back up bc this man gave me hope. Wow. I was at a loss for words. His story was both gut wrenching and enlightening at the same time. Amazing interview.

Johnny is arguably THE most self aware, down to earth, respectful man I have ever heard speak. I feel like he radiates safe energy and I would whole heartedly, without a shadow of a doubt, trust him with my life

There are so many lessons here. What hits hard is how an ex gang member/convict goes to 'gladiator school' at 12 years but today, he breaks down in tears when he speaks of forgiving his father. We need to love our kids all we can.
This was inspirational, and they way he explained everything, you would have never known what kind of childhood he had. No sense of anger or resentment. Powerful.

20 years of a strained relationship with his father went out the window just by him taking accountability and saying sorry. Johnny's story is remarkable and I can truly tell by the sound of his voice and aura that he is truly blessed.
There is no sin as a human being. Who told you that being alive is a sin? Who told you that failure is a sin? He failed in life because the odds were stacked against him. He gave up at the end. Literally I did not lie. He submitted.

I grew up in LA, 1st born in America, daughter to immigrant parents around Johnny's age. Death around the corner is how i remember sime of my early adolescence. Drug house directly accross our home, murders kitty corner with chalk outlines, the teen boy i admired on my block committing suicide. Gangs everywhere. Brokeness. Poverty. Even someone losing their life for coins. The pain & grit was impressed on me young. I pushed through but would be lying if i said i wasn't angry & sincerely prayed my heart out. Everyone needs a braking system....theres a brakin system in the car and it must overcome the accelerator otherwise if accelerator overcomes the Brakes , you will ultimately crash . LikeWise We are people who need self control(brakes) if we dont have self control and our desires are like the accelerator if it keeps going, ( I want to do drugs/ i want to make money /i want have sex with many women etc,) if you dont manage that youll crash out in life and youll Live Miserably. Mark is the best at interviewing people with a story. he knows when to let someone go with the flow, 32min without interrupting Johnny who is the perfect example of someone structured without a structure. the way he tells his story shows he'd be a great father born without one. 32 minutes of pure hope right there. you be safe Johnny.

Wow, I am at a complete loss of words right now. I literally came across this video by accident, ended up watching it and started thinking to myself, "this video should've been longer", and then I realized it wasn't a 5 minute video, but actually 32 minutes long lol. Johnny talking about his complicated relationship with his dad, abusive & traumatic childhood, feelings of loneliness and depression...damn that really hit deep. Hearing his story of struggles & overcoming some of his own traumas really inspired me. The way he talks & shares his story in such a calm, respectful manner tied in with his body language... really makes you feel safe and makes you want to tune everything out and just really listen to him and what he's trying to say. He really made me self-reflect on my life and how I can move forward in life. He mentioned he is a "Prison Minister"?? I can totally see him being a Therapist and also being a counsellor for teenagers. Keep it up Johnny!
Even though Johnny is an ex-gang member he has so much knowledge. He has changed so much and is taking accountability, and that he is being a great example to his own son. I have so much respect for him. I literally cried when he told the story of talking to his father by listening to the pastor. I am so happy for Johnny. I am so glad that he and his father now have a relationship.

Coming back here to say this is the video that brought me to Christ.
I was in a fairly low point of my life when I stumbled across it and the way Johnny spoke really opened my heart. I decided to visit a local church and to cut a long story short, for there onwards I've done the Alpha course, am in a fellowship group, and made an amazing new social circle of people who I genuinely connect with and enjoy spending time with both in and outside of church. This month, I am going to get baptised and will reference this video in my testimony. Truly life changing and I'm so glad I saw this video when I did. Thank you Johnny and Mark.

Religion is humanity's attempt to get to God, Jesus is God's attempt to get to us through Him (John 3:16). Jesus is literally the opposite of religion, He teaches us how to have a relationship with our Father in heaven through Him.

Idk why but Asians have a high level of awareness, I think it comes from how humble they are an they embrace their feelings if that makes sense
I grew up in similar circumstances albeit a little more psychotic and less crime related. I have no clue why, but I am one of few people from my environment that has made it to a point where I can be extremely self aware (sometimes to a debilitating degree) and I have to say most people i've met from similar backgrounds like old friends n shit have high emotional intelligence. The issue is that that intelligence is fucking useless to everybody around you in those areas. You can spend all day going down the rabbit hole on shit like why does my 4th grade teacher hit her students or why does my grandpa never say more than 5 words to me a day but the fact is when you speak up and try to have a conversation about these things no one listens to you. They reject you and put you down because they don't know how to deal with the emotional pain that causes them to behave in that manner. My approach was keeping it to myself and now the goal is to speak my mind more and help others speak theirs. This guy is an amazing example of that mentality to change and help others heal.

If you read this Johnny I just want to say thank you. My wife has had years of built up anger towards her dad because her father was physically and mentally abused by her dad when she was growing up. Fast forward to now her mother passed a few yrs ago so he’s alone and elderly so we go and check on him regularly and he was still angry and in denial about the abuse so I showed her your interview and it had her in tears. We’ll she took the same advice your pastor gave you and apologized and he broke down then she did as well. That was a huge breakthrough. So now we go to dinner on Sundays and they talk and spend time together regularly.

Johnny strikes me as an extremely intelligent, caring and considerate man. His ability to articulate his feelings is powerful and I hope the adversity he's endured has paved the way for his happiness and ability to be a good Father, lover and friend.
I believe it is better for people who had gone through adversities to stay childless. We will eventually relive similar circumstances that led to us being broken in the first place.

For anybody who doest know why people get involved with drama from broken homes, it's todo with ptsd and the way a individual Handel's it, extroverted people may challenge the stress, this leads to addiction to thrills that inturn turns off the frontal cortex due to adrenaline being released that can last in the body for 3-4 days and while continuously being retrigged. The side effect of this is a inability to concentrate, remember, make complex racial decisions, and well effect the individuals ability to sleep causing myriad of additional side effects.

You have no control in changing someone only god does. In a situation such as this you have no control in changing someone no matter how hard you try it is only god that changes hearts. God puts people in your life to get a chance to change it’s hard but the right thing isn’t always the easy thing. You’re not required to share the same views. Many do not. But if you listen closely, you may find yourself in the “old” Johnny. Y'all need to stop saying that people are articulate like its some unique thing. The vast majority of criminals who make it to organised levels of crime are exceedingly intelligent. Either they dont have access to formal education or they dropped out for reasons of poverty, but any criminal you actually talk to is gonna have a good brain on them. Some of the things criminals come up with to avoid detection by police would make intelligence agencies impressed.

What a beautiful testimony of this man's journey. To learn of God's love, forgiveness, grace and Salvation is the hardest thing to believe at first because we are so flawed. It took me so long to trust God's Word over myself. Thankfully He won and I am His. Forever forgiven!

12/11/2024 and I am now only coming across incredible story THANK YOU Johnny for sharing it with me. I am now 42 and I feel lost in my own thoughts and life just seems like I am going around in a circle. After watching this it gave me a little hope and I just want to say thank you. I might have to make that phone call to my father now just to free myself from this pain and burden I am feeling. Like you I grew up gang banging as well and my father was never in the picture. When he had a heart attack and stroke the past two years, I felt nothing. Like I was okay with it if he was to pass away. This isn't about me it about how inspiring your story was. Again, thank you
What a blessing you’ve given so many people, Johnny… I lived with an alcoholic father, in a chaotic household. When I was 22 years old, we met for dinner in S.F. where he lived. Conversation got around to mine and my sisters childhood. My dad apologized forc being a lousy father, and a lousy husband. A week later he died unexpectedly. He gave me a gift of apology, which really changed my life.
I will never get that and that's ok but I deserved an apology. I'm glad you got one.

I grew up in a single-parent family and though I had a fairly happy childhood and had all the lovely adults around me, I also intensely feel that “I trusted myself a lot” the thing is, it doesn’t necessarily turn out in a bad way but for me, that “trust” in myself makes me quite a lonely person. I don’t know if I’m making any sense here but I feel that so emotionally intensely.

What you are suggesting is what we all typically would do. Being right. And when we are right we are the only ones miserable. The key thing about forgiveness is that it is not for the other person, it is for you. It’s how you release all the negative feelings and emotions associated with those events.
When you still label somebody a ‘fuck turd’ there is still a charge of energy there which means it is not gone. So you really have not resolved it. You swept it under the rug only to allow yourself to be triggered the next time in the future where anything that may remind you of it will cause you to burst out in anger. I get it. I was and sometimes am there. It is really hard. It takes courage and bravery.
The hardest thing is when you do have the bravery and courage to forgive but the other party does NOT recognize or take responsibility for what they have done. That is a tough pill to swallow but to your point, that is life and not everybody takes responsibility.
All people want is a sincere heartfelt apology. No bullshit pleasantries, etc. people know by our way of being if we are being truthful. We are not fools.

My main take away on ALOT of these interviews is how IMPACTFUL a Father is in ALL of our lives, emotionally, spiritually and physically. The toll or the leadership is tangible coming from a father. This is one of the most impactful things I've ever watched. Pain is universal and inevitable, growth is not. We see so many versions of unresolved pain on this channel, but so few that grow from it and move on. Everything you do onto others, you do onto yourself and vice versa...it is human law. @@louniece1650 you’re not obligated to forgive is fair to say. No one is. There is a clause to that though and that is if you come to God, forgiving others is essential and necessary.
In the Lord’s Prayer of the Bible it says “forgive us of our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed us”. This verse is basically saying “I will forgive others, would you please forgive me bc I have sinned”. Basically breaking down that verse, when it comes to knowing God and having a relationship with him, forgiving others would be a byproduct of our decision based on what Christ has done to forgive us. So yeah in that sense you will and should forgive others. It’s not being thrown down your throat. It’s making you face your demons and say it’s no one’s fault. It’s the victim saying to the attacker I’m going to release this spell and bitterness you have over me controlling my emotions in order to live my life freely without restraint so that I can have peace. Peace within myself and peace with God.
This is so crazy, I used to hangout with Johnny. I was a missionary in 1999 and 2000 in Alhambra, Johnny’s mom wanted us to spend time with him. His mother loved him so much, I remember searching for Johnny one night finding him at some kind of a video gaming place. I can’t believe this…. I think about Johnny almost everyday after I moved back home to Canada wondering how he made out, it’s so awesome to Johnny doing great. God bless my friend!!

This was the best interview you have had Mark. JOHNNY IS AN INSPIRATION. The story of apologizing to the father who beat him really got inside me. When my father was dying I gave him a chance to apologize to me for beating me, which he could not do, instead he denied ever abusing me. He lied to me, to save his own face. But, If I had just been able to apologize to him instead it would have been so powerful and I know that would have enabled him to open his heart to me. When I go to bed tonight I will offer up my apologies to his spirit. I know it will help me release pain and anger I have carried inside for 67 years. Thank you Johnny. You are a great preacher. My parents would whip me if i am stubborn and hot headed because they do not want me to loose myself to the world. Today i would sit with my dad for a deep conversation/discussion every night on how to look after the whole household and how to increase our status. If they have not controlled me as i am stubborn and wild, i would be ending up in the street or be a h*e.

Sorry to hear your story. But I have suffered a lot of childhood trauma as well from my narcissistic mother who I have got non contact with. But it's all about forgiveness. I've learned that you can forgive someone and you don't have to do it in person. So you can forgive someone even after they've passed and it's still very meaningful. I forgiven my mom and my father who have both been complete disappointments. But I have not done it in person just cuz I don't have the ability.

There are so many lessons here. What hits hard is how an ex gang member/convict goes to 'gladiator school' at 12 years but today, he breaks down in tears when he speaks of forgiving his father. We need to love our kids all we can.

20 years of a strained relationship with his father went out the window just by him taking accountability and saying sorry. Johnny's story is remarkable and I can truly tell by the sound of his voice and aura that he is truly blessed.

That POWER of forgiveness really is something different and it really does break down so many layers of pain, hurt, and trauma. I grew up in LA, 1st born in America, daughter to immigrant parents around Johnny's age. Death around the corner is how i remember sime of my early adolescence. Drug house directly accross our home, murders kitty corner with chalk outlines, the teen boy i admired on my block committing suicide. Gangs everywhere. Brokeness. Poverty. Even someone losing their life for coins. The pain & grit was impressed on me young. I pushed through but would be lying if i said i wasn't angry & sincerely prayed my heart out. This video is beautiful. Thank you for your work Johnny. May it spread hope & light in darkness. Appreciate you sharing your journey & wisdom.

I’m personally not religious but I’m honestly so happy for this guy that he was able to find something to give him peace, forgiveness, and hope in his life. His story made me shed tears, especially when he forgave his father, I can’t imagine how difficult that must have been to do
Perhaps he sees his father as a weak confused individual and not really an evil person. After all, forgiveness is more to release the pain of our own selves…

Everyone needs a braking system....theres a brakin system in the car and it must overcome the accelerator otherwise if accelerator overcomes the Brakes , you will ultimately crash . LikeWise We are people who need self control(brakes) if we dont have self control and our desires are like the accelerator if it keeps going, ( I want to do drugs/ i want to make money /i want have sex with many women etc,) if you dont manage that youll crash out in life and youll Live Miserably.
Some people are born flawed imperfect in sin and dont have capabilities to stop themselves from committing Sin and so they need something or someone to help them..Someone else can be your Braking System..(Pastor,Neighbor,Teacher,Relative, etc) To see your wrongs and help you manage Life to help u take your foot off the Pedal and regain control....~Self Control

Mark is the best at interviewing people with a story. he knows when to let someone go with the flow, 32min without interrupting Johnny who is the perfect example of someone structured without a structure. the way he tells his story shows he'd be a great father born without one. 32 minutes of pure hope right there. you be safe Johnny.

This was one of the most insightful interviews I’ve ever heard. How insightful Johnny is about himself, eloquent in his retrospective journey, the seeming conflicting themes that is mentioned of violence and heart, anger and forgiveness. Johnny’s words were provoking but tender. What an amazing storyteller. Thank you for sharing Johnny.

Wow, I am at a complete loss of words right now. I literally came across this video by accident, ended up watching it and started thinking to myself, "this video should've been longer", and then I realized it wasn't a 5 minute video, but actually 32 minutes long lol. Johnny talking about his complicated relationship with his dad, abusive & traumatic childhood, feelings of loneliness and depression...damn that really hit deep. Hearing his story of struggles & overcoming some of his own traumas really inspired me. The way he talks & shares his story in such a calm, respectful manner tied in with his body language... really makes you feel safe and makes you want to tune everything out and just really listen to him and what he's trying to say. He really made me self-reflect on my life and how I can move forward in life. He mentioned he is a "Prison Minister"?? I can totally see him being a Therapist and also being a counsellor for teenagers. Keep it up Johnny!
Even though Johnny is an ex-gang member he has so much knowledge. He has changed so much and is taking accountability, and that he is being a great example to his own son. I have so much respect for him. I literally cried when he told the story of talking to his father by listening to the pastor. I am so happy for Johnny. I am so glad that he and his father now have a relationship.
