You did amazing! I love playing jazz guitar, but I would have seriously struggled with this challenge. Your take was very well thought out, it showed a theme, throughline, and complimented the vocals and drums to an incredible degree :)
It's so funny that you made it a ragtime song. Because there already exists a ragtime cover of MCR's song 'Teenagers' by Jimlapbap here on UA-cam. I'd love to see and hear a PMJ cover of MCR's 'I'm not okay (I promise)' or 'welcome to the black parade'. Haha
"This is the best thing that's ever happened here at Pianote". 100% agree. This is by far the most hilarious "first listen" you've ever done. I was literally grinning from ear to ear the whole way through. Absolutely spectacular!

My guy just slammed this out of the park. This is incredible. My friends and I actually choreographed an entire swing number to House of Wolves back in the day which actually is just straight hard emo swing. Scott absolutely nailed it.
@@TisMishyYoochunBish Yes, it's Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, from the self titled double album The Beatles (AKA The White Album) from 1968, which also brought us such other memorable masterpieces as Back in the USSR, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Blackbird, and Rocky Racoon, among others!
I think the thing i really appreciate about these videos, as a bassist and songwriter, not as a pianist as im not one, is the flexibility that exist in arrangement and how you can just start with something basic and build around that over the course of writing the song
The cool thing about bass as Adam Neely puts it, is you can bully harmony. Chording instruments like to think they're in charge. I play guitar, piano, and bass in that order and they each have their own flair but have limits to how much/easily they can emulate each other
Can Post Modern Jukebox's next album, please be Emo Ragtime, where they just cover a bunch of emo songs in this same style because this had me grinning the whole time watching - make it happen! 😂🙏🤙
AUGH, the interlude was so beautiful!! Also it's incredible how close to the actual outtro the piano version was. =D I would also love to see his reaction to MCR's track "Blood," if he's into ragtimey emo!
Brilliant! Just brilliant!! Always been a fan of PMJ but never realised how talented Scott Bradlee was. Thanks for organising this, it was such an eye-opener.
Except that's not him. That's Matt Pelissier. Bob is in the music video but he didn't actually record the drums. Matt left the band soon after recording Three Cheers and Bob joined them in time to record the music video for I'm not okay
I rarely comment on the internet, but this time I used the translator just to say that I loved it, like I love everything Scott does that I've seen to date, brilliant. So sophisticated to the point of having fun with anything
That's what i thought. PMJ has done MCR before. at least I know they've done Welcome to the Black Parade. Id figure he would've done some research around that.
Not sure how many times he got to hear the song but it sure seemed like he nailed it on a first run through. I gotta imagine the dudes probably heard it at SOME point. Especially a guy who’s in that world of music
I love this so much. It would do better if you had a more extended showing of the original and allowed him to compose something fitting and complementary to the original. We only got to hear snippets of that. It's so fascinating seeing someone extract their own feel and version of the parts from such disparate beginnings. The chorus where he allows the strings to resonate obviously fits better. I would just love to see more and more long form. It would be sick to hear his entire playthrough with the original track and updated perspective. Please don't shy away from longer formatting. Idk about anyone else, but I like long-form content. Not short stuff.
Its like an old western saloon with emo cowboys and working girls. Basically amazing, couldnt stop chucking throughout. Even the parts where you played the actual music video
The thing i love the most is that this still feels on brand with MCR, this is giving "Blood", or "Mama", the band is super theatrical! I would love to see the band react to this, because I know they will eat it up!
I gotta agree! It really changes the song but not in a bad way. Looks like a B then an E before the A? Im not very goof with music theory but know the basis.
I play a *little* bit of keys sometimes, and as far as I'm concerned this man is some kind of wizard. I wouldn't have thought this was humanly possible, frankly. It's a lot more impressive than anything I've seen a guitarist do.
oh my i had forgotten how outlandish this one was
Thx to MCR for writing such a great tune, and thx to Pianote for always encouraging this madness!
Scott!! You never cease to amaze us, can't wait to have you out to try another challenge in the future! #EmoRagtime
Genius level choices, thanks for making my last beer of the night so enjoyable

Couldn't agree more! 🎹 ✨
Its okay, every musician has own interpretation to the music which they are listening to, especially when its first time, it can be jazzy or funky 😅
My mind still can’t comprehend how amazing this turned out.
Once Scott said he was going to try something ‘Ragtimey’ - we knew we were in for a treat.
He just invented my chemical ragtime
Oh, that is FUNNY!
Next My Chemical Gurdy Parade

Emo ragtime - basically early panic at the disco 😂
Emotime
We need MCR reaction to this. This is genius!
I would assume they’d be into it; they clearly have some sympathetic influences based off tracks like mama
@@samlawson8482 Yeah I was immediately like, he should listen to Mama or Blood.

A true mad genius! Absolutely love what Scott does.
Scott = GOAT
Please, please, PLEASE: allow Scott Bradley to bring this version on Postmodern Jukebox! We need it!!
it must sounds like puddles pity party's helena version as puddles pity party sometimes appear in pmj
That ragtime actually sounds like something MCR would write…it reminds me of Blood!
That's facts. Glad to know I wasn't the only one thinking this.
💯🖤
@@conanbdetective100% I head him say “ragtime” and was like we need to get him to listen to Blood.

his discography is insane
I know a thing about contrition!
"as I lay weeping" goodness gracious this is my first video of this channel and its now a personal favorite
This guy's humor is off the charts, like a character straight out of The Office who stumbled into Pianote to tickle the ivories.
listening to Helena and getting Oobla Di Oobla Da is awesome.
Also, Kevin is not getting nearly enough credit for calling the Beatles thing well before Scott admitted that was exactly the vibe he was feeling...
Would you know the title of the Beatles song they were talking about?

I was surprised and smiled. He makes spooky lively and melodic, it's a lot of fun. Thankyou 😊
i feel like he or really any other guest on this channel would have a GREAT time doing this challenge to "Mama" by MCR.
ah yes, “Mama” my favorite mother’s day song
I get the feeling we might be seeing some MCR in Postmodern Jukebox. I NEED IT!
Already exists. They did a New Orleans marching band version of welcome to the black parade many years ago. This isn’t his first team hearing MCR lol
Outrageous. Such an awesome series to showcase these fantastic artists.
The best part is to bring someone who embraces the "let's do something so difference". That is exactly what I expect to see here
How can this be so good? amazing
Who knew we all needed a little Postmodern Emo Ragtime in our lives?
that prove, jazz musicians can play everything on the spot 👍👍👍👍
I think I speak for everyone when I say PLEASE do a full-fledged pmj cover of this song with this piano!
The colors I see with Scott's rendition is just amazing. What an absolute pleasure and Scott's a mad genius bravo 👏
8:40 OMG! I had huge goosebumps at this moment, I want the full song in this version
Scott is well-known for making covers that are better than the original, but he usually has some help and can listen to the whole song!
But clearly he doesn’t need it

Wow this is sick bro! You are absolutely genius!
The ragtime is unbelievable ❤
I wish I could accompany Mr. Bradlee on a gig. His musical talent is amazing
Definitely one of my favourite challenge match moments. What a great artist Mr. Bradlee is.
I admit it. I am HOOKED on this series. Brilliant concept and so well executed with these amazing artists!
me: inspired in ragtime.

I guess this ragtime really struck a chord with me - I got kind of emotional.
We see what you did there 😏
Helena became Mama
🤣 I second that🤣

probably heard it before, but, to be fair, helena is not a guitar heavy song anyways, so it wouldn't really help that much.
This is very fun. This also very much fits a style that MCR has dabbled in before with their song Blood, the hidden track from The Black Parade.
Scott’s really great to work with and it’s awesome to see his brain work like this true talent
I have a feeling Gerard would be very open to be the vocalist for when PMJ decides to do a full version of this. I just have a gut feeling.

And props on picking MCR’s best song. This was glorious

I love MCR, and I loved your take on it.
Why did this go hard?! Absolute mad lad! Well done!
Scott Bradlee really nailed that one. I love what he did with it. Lots of Ragtime.
He looks just as crisp as he plays.
That was awesome! Thanks for putting this out in the wild. I honestly need more emo ragtime in my life now!
SUPER TALENTED, great interpretation, really reminds me of tokyo jihen's keyboard/piano player
I need this version to officially release ❤
I think the piano really highlights the beautiful chord progression this song has
That was fun! Whenever the rag time starts the biggest smile just creeps across my face.
I wonder if non-pianists realize how difficult it is to improvise stride piano like that.

Anyhow HE IS A GENIUS FOR DOING THIS
Goes well with the Busby Berkley-inspired dancing of the video! 😅
This was the last thing I expected, but I desperately needed it. Ragtime + MCR, I want to see this in concert lol
