The ACSS, or Advanced Combined Sighting System, is a reticle designed to get you quickly on target at range. Developed by Primary Arms, it's found its way into other optics including those offered by Trijicon. MrGunsnGear swung by the ranch to break down the Primary Arms ACSS reticle for us.

I am honored!🙏 Huge fan of both of your channels!!

That's for all the work you do to develop products like the ACSS.
I've been WAITING for a number of YEARS for you folks to offer the 1-6 ACSS (7.62x39/5.56) in GREEN but to no avail.....my eyes don't do red well at all, so I'll have to keep spending my money on non-Primary Arms scopes, non-ACSS.
I'd rather spend my money on one of yours, but to you folks, I and those like me are nothing more than a bunch of Red-Headed Step Children, worthy of only being ignored.
Congrats on a great scope, shame on you for keeping us 'red heads' down in the dungeon.
JR Bailey sounds like woman! Oh this doesn’t match my purse! Stfu who cares about the color. I am more concerned about the drops and wind holds, mine are dead nuts, my whole department has gone to this for our SPR program.
JR Bailey but we do offer it in green check out our ACSS 4x TA31, 1.5x ACSS TA44 by Trijicon, ACSS 5x PA, 1-6x ACSS Predator

Tell you what slick, i'm a beat up old cripple with a crap load of health problems, lackluster arrogant individuals such as yourself would consider me 'half a man', but if you want to come down Central WY way, I'll see if this half man can muster up enough of a response to satisfy your sorry, lackluster posterior!
that high tech paper! 😎. Thanks for having me out
Thanks for swinging by. 👍

I love the colabs of my favorite gun UA-camrs!
@@worldtravel101 welcome to the channel
Don't give up the ship!
Finally someone explains this simply and concisely. I’ve watched dozens of videos and have always ended up lost. This actually makes sense
The acss reticle and Dimitri's grids are the greatest thing to happen to the optics world. Period. These things are years ahead of the shooting world
They're getting a lot of attention not just in civilian shooting circles but by the military as well. Lots of people have taken interest in the work Dimitri has done with the ACSS.
Agreed!!
A8vscRrabbit 🙏-Dimitri tnx you
Where can I find dimitris grids?
Primary Arms's ACSS reticle is easily my favorite reticle I've seen on the market. I own multiple Primary arms scopes. Frankly I also love the fact they make scopes that function well on non-AR platforms and I have a 1-6 Raptor on my PTR91 and a 1x Cyclops prism optic on my AK. In addition I own various 5.56 and 7.62x39 prism scopes from them.
I never hesitate to recommend them.
Two of my favorites. Always nice to hear that an expert is not afraid to say “I don”t know as much about this as this guy”.
I have one for 5.56 and another for .22lr on order. Once you know how the reticle works, it's easy to figure out how to use it. Please note, unless you have a First Focal Plane scope, the ranging and holdover hash marks only work when you're at max magnification. It's written in the manual, but if you didn't read it, you wouldn't know, unless you know the differences between a First Focal Plane scope vs a Second Focal Plane scope.
Great reticle. Great guys. Thank you Tim and Mike.
Thank you for watching.
Thank you both so very much!!
Thanks for the knowledge about the ACSS Reticle guys. Also i love both your channels guys.
Great to see you both together for the video.
ACSS is life 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great video guys
This is one of my favorite reticles it is the same as my 6X for my 22 LR rifle. it is nice because I can have new shooters get used to the reticle ( ranging and wind holds ) and then move them up to a 1-6, 1-8 or a acog with the same reticle on a full size rifle 🇺🇸
ACSS is a truly badass reticle. It's a game changer in my view. Primary Arms (Dimitri) hit the jackpot with this family of reticles! I really like the collaboration vids guys! Keep em coming!
Love the ACSS. I've been running one on my ACR for about a year now and its a excellent reticle and range finder
Love the charts man lol, great video guys
I love this reticle. Exactly right. Great for self defense and DMR set ups.
cleared up a lot of confusion for me. Thank you both.
Seriously appreciate that tutorial. I'm new to rifles, and sights so its nice to get a quick over lay of what means what.
As far as optics are concerned Dimitri is a God among men with the work and research he has put into these reticles! Acss is an excellent quick ref no math needed shooter solution.

Glad I found you & this video.
Fantastic video - thank you both.
Thanks, can't wait to try it.
Great video fellas. Much appreciated!
Dam! You guys are together. That’s so cool!
Very informative. Thanks for the vid Tim. 👍🏻👍🏻
Two of my favorite youtube gun bloggers coming together is so beautiful to see. A perfect match up like peanut butter and chocolate!
Love my primary arms scopes with the acss!! Thanks to all you guys, I have these quality optics at affordable poor man prices. Primary Arms is the first scope I’ve bought, and it’s probably the only scopes I will buy In the future! I got 3 of them, and I’m gonna purchase 3 more 😂!
Nicely done Mike :) Thanks guys!
THANK YOU!!!!
.308 an inch high @100 Yds
HOURS spent looking for that information.
Great job. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Cool to see you guys doing videos together. Y’all should do more.
Thank you and I’m saving this for when I can.
Great job. Thanks for the info.
Thanks guys, subscribed to ya both. Good info. I like the sight and been looking for something fun to play with on a new AR......
This helped a lot. Thanks
Love these collabs!
Like these dual videos. Subscribe to both channels, but teaming up even better. Nice job.
Great information
Awesome video, thanks.
Now this is a crossover that gets my blood flowing.
Thanks for sharing! It's appreciated a lot. T.
Great video guys. 👍🇺🇸
Best reticle system ever! Would love to see this on our service rifles
3:35 I smashed my screen so hard thinking it was a fruit fly. ;-(
I thought i had bugs too
Love my PA Apollo 6.5 cm bdc. Its similar with more wind adjustment. Spot on out to 1k yards.
Thanks guys
Thanks Guys!!!!!
Great stuff and on the list.
Inching VERY close to 1 MILLION subscribers Tim! That's crazy! You will also be elegible for another awesome UA-cam plaque.... 🤣
Great episode. It would be nice to have a link to a scope or two like this and his YT channel that goes into more detail of this optic. Thanks again for this collaboration.
I have to say, the ACSS is the best reticle out there period. PA is awesome. Well explained video!
Looking to buy this scope, very very helpful thank you.
Love the video! Can you please do one on the Horus reticle (h59) please!
The bug at 3:37 🤣 I had to rewind it because I thought it was on my TV
Can you do this same video for the other ACSS scopes from Primary arms please? Like the Griffin, MOA, MIL, raptor, etc
Tiborasarus Rex. He does a bunch of PA stuff.
Great video sometimes it needs to be fun as well as informative
PS I Love the stick figure with the AK-47
I run a Primary Arms ACSS 4-14 on my Rem 700 LTR .308 with 168 ELD-M. I tuned the velocity so the hash marks line up almost perfect. I then zeroed the gun at 400 yards on the 400 hash mark. It's about 1/2" high at 100 and 2" low at 500 but spot on everywhere in between. I figure this is a pretty reliable 600 yard set up.
The mistake everyone makes with BDC reticles is trying to zero at 100 and being way off at 5 or 600. Zero at 2/3 the total distance you plan to shoot that rifle using the appropriate hash mark. You may be a half moa off at your two extremes but close to spot on everywhere in between.
great video!!
Thank you my vortex spitfire 3x uses this and i wasn't sure where to zero.
PA latest optics have the Christmas Tree designs but at premium prices, the ACSS reticle is perfect for your everyday shooter.
Everyone : I can shoot out to 600 with my PA LVPO !
My blind ass : how ?!
i have two primary arms raptors FFP 1-6x with acss. just excellent esp for the money. tough to beat. since it is FFP, it is more of a red dot at low power then gives you proper ranging at any higher magnification.
One thing I'll never understand is why anyone decides to buy a scope that's as expensive as the gun it sits on. I'd rather have two $1,250 AR's than one $1,500 AR with a $1,000 ACOG. (even though I'm a tactical nerd and would buy one if given the chance)
Super helpful.
The Primary Arms LVPO is a fricking beast for the money! I got one on sale the Gen 3 and it has this set up but uses the upside down V and it lights up for low light conditions and WOW this thing really maked things so easy lol my AR pistol is 11 inch barrel LWRC but the military rounds I use the 62 grain are hotter then any 55 grain from any other ammo manufacturer so not being a rifle doesn't affect the lines unless I use the 55 grain cheap stuff but shooting long range at a natural rock formation with moss and having a Leica Range finder really helps me out. I just cant wait until these scopes have the auto range and adjust like the $14,000 Sig Sauer scopes lol maybe in a couple more years ; )
Man I have one of these on several rifles. 1-6x 223/5.56 on one of my 14.5”. 1-6x 7.62x39/300b.o on my ks47. 2.5x prism on my 10.5” 223 and a 4-14x Orion on my Grendel. And I can’t bring myself to buy any other optic. Over the past few years I’ve been swapping these out with all my rifles. I have yet to find a more effective reticle. Even their silver series are great quality for the money. The platinum is outstanding and when I thought it couldn’t get any better they drop the gold line. Can’t wait to sell my vortex diamond back tactical off my 243 then replace it with either the 3-18x with the hud reticle or if funds permit I’d really like the new gold series 4-16x hud. These things work extremely well ranging, bullet drop, and wind hold even with calibers other than 308, 223. My Grendel is dead on out to 600yds with the Orion reticle just zeroed 3/4” high at 100yds. It’s nothing hitting 12” targets out to 600yds. Even 4” targets become easy to hit with the 7.62x39 out to 300yds. I’m sure it’ll work even farther that’s just as far as I’ve confirmed. If you don’t have one trust me you are missing out
ACSS is a great plinking reticle.
Thanks for showing me this too,... i think though, I'd better go practice this while the info. is in 'my memory bank'.
I have a PA 3x scope with that reticle. I don't have a long enough range to learn to use the BDC features. I use my 200m zero instead.
200m zero on a 3x 😁
Excellent power point presentation lol good stuff
Good explanation. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great instructional! (Would you mind giving me a link to the Shooting Rest your using here? Thanks)✌️
I have a Primary Arms calibrated for 308 and the manual says to zero for 200 yards and the horseshoe is 18 inches wide at 200.(average width of a man) Just a note to keep in mind the caliber the sight is calibrated for.
Love my 1-6x with the ACSS reticle. And I think Tiborasarus Rex has about as much time with the PA gear. And you know it's a good reticle if Trijicon puts it on the ACOG.
Trijicon couldn't come up with a reticle to match what was being offered by the ACSS, so they admitted it and decided to license it instead. Pretty powerful endorsement, as you noted.
I've been wanting to get one of the scopes with ACSS from Primary, but my eyes lose the red too much, so I've been waiting (IN VAIN) for them to offer the reticle in GREEN rather than red.
Why they don't offer the Green option, I do not know, but until they do, my money will be spent on regular mil-dot scopes.
Not being a pro shooter, (I'm just happy to hit a pie plate at 100 yards), extremely useful info!!!
Never really understood how to use one of those fancy scopes, but I'm going to give it a try after watching this video... If Tim can understand it... Maybe I can too!!! (Not holding my breath though ;-)
Takes out of box
Doesn't read the manual
Describes me perfectly
Great video! What is the best value variable magnification scope with the ACSS reticle in your opinion?
SFP ACSS perfect compliment to Diamondback AR; 1-6x24 with specific BDC for my 7.62x39 and compatible with 300BO. No zombies yet afield to verify distancing accuracy. Have FFP ACSS HUD DMR 4-14x44 on both AR10 and Howa mock AR; again, no zombies afield.
As with previous comments thanks for concise overview. Well done.
The one thing missing in manuals and presentations such as this; what magnification is ranging accomplished?
Gents, the TREMOR 3/5 can be "busy" if don't understand what you are looking at. If you know what you are looking at, the TREMOR 3/5 turns into something out of Star Wars. SOCOM Snipers have done some incredible things with TREMOR reticles; unfortunately those stories will never be told, but that is the nature of the game. " A paintbrush in a normal person's hand vs A paintbrush in DaVinci's hand".
Hahaha. The cows in the background of this video had me looking out the window checking on livestock.....#ranchlife
I prefer the rural life. 👍
I’ve used my ACSS reticle on one of my AR’s out to 800 yards easy as pie. The first ten rounds were standing, freehand and 8/10 were hits at a medium rate of fire. It’s literally so easy to make hits out that far that it kind of take the fun out of it lol.
Variable Power.. SFP? What Power Do You Range With.. I Have 1-6x SFP.. And Dont Quite Know Havent Put IPSC Targets Out At Different Ranges
@@escott3829 yeah I have the same one, 1-6x SFP I range at max power. I’m pretty sure that’s how they’re set up. To be “true” at 6x that’s how I use it, and it hasn’t been wrong. I don’t think it would make much sense for them to build their range finding reticle any other way. If you’re needing to range targets that means your pushing out past 300 yards so you’re definitely going to be at 6x
@@UncleFuncle69
Man Thanks..
I Was At The Range This Morn..
12 Gauge Smooth Bore Shot Slugs With That 1-6x. Great At 25.. At 4MOA AT 25M.. CRAP At 50. 20+ MOA At 50M UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGFUG

I Had Silhouette In Van.. Didnt Put It At 100 To Verify...
Thanks A Ton...
Learning the ACSS with Mr Clean 🤔
I find the ACSS reticle interesting especially since I have seen/heard that it is supposed to be better than a red dot for people with astigmatism, which I have.
Yes, us blind folks need prism sights. They are amazing for astigmatism
It is! I can't use red dots with my old eyes...they are blurry.
I use prism scopes and ACSS LPVO's from Primary Arms and have zero issues with starburst blurry dots.
I highly recommend you try it out.
Well, I have astigmatism (both vertical and horizontal) and have the ACSS reticle on my 503G red dot. Let me tell you that it is unusable without my prescription glasses. Granted, I only use it in competition and for fun at the range, I would use it in a home defense gun.
What you really want for astigmatism if you can find yourself in a situation where you lost your glasses is a prism optic. They have a multiple mirror system that collimates the light (similar when you squint your eyes to compensate astigmatism) and diopter correction (unlike red dots), making the reticle crisp even without prescription glasses. As a plus, the reticle is etched and will still work if the batteries die. The down side is shorter eye relief than a red dot (infinite) but still better than a regular scope. Primary arms and Vortex released micro prisms optics that are about as light as a red dot. You should check them out.
Definitely much better my trijicon mro is junk to me I see like 5 different dots .
you got a great teacher,😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌
Joined the Marines just about one year too early to get trained properly on these. Used an acog once amd flippantly. Must have been a "we're supposed to have you all use this newer thing by the end of The day, but we have shit to do," type deal. Only ever qualled with iron sights--so thanks!
I’m patiently waiting for manufacturers to make reprogrammable reticles that allow users to create their own reticles, custom made for each rifle. I have several BDC reticle scopes on several rifles. I had to create a software program that would print the ranges for each reticle mark based on the specific cartridge I use in each rifle.
I want the ACOG with this reticle to put on my M16A4 build.
i want one with auto on it. just line up the cross hairs and it does the rest lol
I want an ACSS Reticle in the Trijicon MRO!
Do all these adjustments does the scope have to be turned all the way up for that to work on the radical
I have messed with one of these guys for a bit. I'd call it an improvement over the standard ACOG reticle. Probably better utilized on higher magnification than a 4x power. Also important to note that the reticle is extremely small in the generous ACOG field of view. Those with weaker vision might have trouble reading some of the range numbers. The tritium is also too bright for night vision goggles. Light, durable, and practical. Not quite perfect (yet?).
I love my x3 on my AR, I need two more.
will this still work on a 10.5” 5.56?
Mac, The ACCS 2 Raptor that is now out. Do you know if these are etched reticles? I'm assuming not but you never know. Thanks
The one on the left to determine how far a 5 foot 10 man is, the scope need to be zoomed out all the way im assuimg?
Mr. GNG has definitely been "driving with spouse". He's tense.
Got a question for you. Say you have a target at let's say 400 yards. You have about a 5 mph blowing in the direction he is walking. The large dots are for a man running at 8.6 mph. How fast does a normal person walk, and with the wind coming from behind him where would your hold over point be...approximately? This is shooting say 125 grn 300 BLK.
Just picked up a 6.5 creedmoor savage axis 2 synthetic will this reticle be good for me with 16 power primary arms scope? Or no? 44mm running weaver aluminum rings that support up to 44mm scopes and got the primary sunshade please chime in thanks
With a FFP optic can’t you make the reticle fit whatever range you want since the reticle grows with the magnification?
What's the best method to estimate wind speeds? Thank you
