The video for Lyfjaberg was mainly filmed in the mountains at Tustna in Norway. The lyrics are not in old norse as it's mentioned down below . Here you've got the lyrics which are written in a dialect from the west coast of Norway where Einar Selvik originates.
Sal din hug og lat den ri og renna
Med blinde augo vil du vegen finna
Djupt du dreg anden inn - let tankar svinna
Langsamt slepp anden fri - i vinden rida
Spinn spindel - tvinn i tankar, kverv i syn
Seidsongen, lint den lokkar hug or ham
    Fram gjøno døri, gjøno kongro-sløri
Fram, ber med bare føt, den tunge børi
Ut in ditt indre ventar bratt ein sti
Legg frå deg reidsle, legg di maske ned
    or marg og bein
    or kjøt og blod
    or hold og skinn
    i vær og vind
    ut du svinn
eg manar deg inn i berget blå der korkje sol ell måne skin deg på eg maner til skogen der ingen bur og til den sjø som ingen ror djupt under jordfast stein
    til ingens mein
    gjønom elva renna
    havet venda
    I vær og vind
ut du svinn Korkje sol ell måne
skin deg på Synk i den sjø som
    ingen ror
    I elva renna,
    i havet venda
    Lyvjaberg hev alltid stende
til trøyst for sjuk og såra
Kvar og ein som berget kliv
    Lækjast for livslang sott
    Legg den att på Lyvjaberget
    Hødgi der åar alle,
buktar støtt seg nord og nedan
    Bergar den som berget maktar

Northern Europe is a real hotbed for musical talent, and has been for the past few years. Whether you like your music with a symphonic/folk metal/heavy metal style, exploring Northern Europe is a good place to start. This song conjures up memories of an Irish band called Clanaad..who introduced folk style music with beautiful vocals, which was good enough to attract wide interest on both sides of the pond. Wardruna produce, for me, a hypnotic rhythm which is infectious, and should appeal to music lovers irrespective of genre..Celtic music given a 21st Century makeover.👏👏 Sabina…when your head matches the rhythm, this tells me that you appreciated what you were seeing and hearing.

One of my favourite Wardruna videos. It's a full-body experience! Also, Wardruna's music gets me so deeply that I sit and listen to it for hours with my headphones on and it always grounds me completely. I love your non-interrupting style :)

Einar Svelvik, the singer, is big about maintaining a tie to the ancient culture and ways. He's specifically said he does not try to romanticize the time, but it should be remembered.
They sing in the old Norse and play instruments from the time. From my understanding the song is about maintaining a tie to nature and allowing it to heal and restore your spirit.
Already mentioned, but the live performance of "Helvegen" with Aurora in the theatre at Bergen is very powerful and emotional. I'm confident you would greatly enjoy it.

As everyone else have expressed, this feels like an awakening of our souls that have been asleep for a millennia. I’m an American mutt who knows her dna lineage, but hearing this as well as heilung I felt an instantaneous reconnect to my ancient ancestors in a way that felt exact. I did not feel like I was treading in a space that I can only experience by looking through the window, because I could feel the pathway to home racing through my veins and igniting memories of past lives and kinship. Absolutely life changing and man I cannot express enough how much I dig the trance like state their music sweeps my mind and body into.

Within the 1st 60-90 seconds, I felt my producer gears in my brain start to turn after 20 years. I mentally layered a heavy guitar riff on top of this track and now I need to mix it for real haha
I just read that Wardruna was "born" out of Norway's black metal scene, and it all made sense to me. Even though this song is not metal, the vibe it creates is easily translatable into a metal format.
Does anyone have any recommendations for the best free production programs I should use? Ones that don't have a limited trial period. I'm broke AF 🤣
Thank you Sabina for bringing this awesome reaction that helped to re-light the fire within 😁🤘

Yeah - just wanted to chime in a bit. This is a Norwegian band, and I think that they sing in either modern Norwegian, or more even probable Old Norse (they're big on history, and often are inspired by archeological finds, etc.).
And also - all Scandinavian music is said to be quite melancholic...it is proven be have been so for centuries (by actual finds of documented songs) - and/so it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to imagine that the music of Scandinavia have 'always' been like that: if for nothing else, the life here has usually been quite hard, brutal and harsh (at least historical speaking that is),

If I may be so bold, may I suggest you check out Gealdyr's "Gimle" official video. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I also recommend Raido, and well, anything else. All is good but yes, check Raido too if you wish. And thanks for your reactions and thoughts.
As for the song, it's actually about healing, the healing mountain. Tells about the travel towards healing, dropping all the material things which aren't needed, struggling on the path to the top of the healing mountain where, when you make it, you will be healed of all that ails you. Lyrics of the song are great, there should also be subtitles or subtitled version.

I don't hear the sound of war in this. This is about climbing that mountain and letting nature heal your soul. It is more like a march to the summit. And yes, it does strike a cord in out ancestral memory. Or at least it is nice to pretend that it does.
Also, (ikke for at plage) I still really want you to listen to that Ren song I mentioned "Hi Ren". I have watched maybe 50 reactions to it, but it is yours I am waiting for.

I got to see them live in Dallas Texas last October and holy hell was it an amazing performance. We waited for 3 years because of covid but it was worth every second! If you get a chance to see them don't pass it up. It's truly unforgettable and so beautiful. They got 3 standing ovations from them crowd and all of us were very respectful the entire show.

I am from Sweden and am very familiar with our Scandinavian languages, which actually are very similar to each other (since the all derive from old norse). Sometimes Wardruna mixes in old norse but mainly the lyrics are in nynorsk.

the video is better with subtitles on, then you can understand what he sings about. i would recommend you watch it again with English subtitles.. and if you do future videos with wardruna try and see what they sing with the subtitles it really makes a difference
