"Wardruna - Raido" is one of my favorite songs. as somone on youtube said " this music makes me feel homesick for a place i've never been"
thank you for an awesome reaction.
Because it carries the primal and animistic energy that we lack nowadays in this modern and materialistic world, it reminds us of who we really are.
Einar has a metal background, former drummer of Gorgoroth.
But I’m so happy you like it though. Us Scandinavians have very little left of our viking heritage and culture because of christianity, so this type of music f.ex. becomes very important and special. I hope you’ll listen to Kvitravn next 🥰
Christianity bullshit!!
Yes Norse mythology been dead for a long time, but many are still connected to nature. This Lyfjaberg video have been shot close to my summer house, no peace in my soul before I leave city life behind and move there for good.
wish we still had more Norse culture in Norway
Thankfully ironically enough, the internet is allowing the culture to come back and along with it the spiritual beliefs as well.
Wardruna is a trip of its own. Skugge and Kvitravn from their newest album are really magical. thanks for doing this reaction.
Kvitravn is magical 💜
Kvitravn ☺️💙
Skugge is one of my best 🥰 but almost all of their songs are my favs 😍
Kvitravn official video will knock your woolen socks off! Your channel is cool man keep them coming thanks!
This comment is 💯
Oh man. Kvitravn is brilliant.
He actually was in one or two of the Vikings episodes, as a singer. He also did a lot of the music for the score. If you like this go watch the video of the International tv series Gala, Vikings Suite. I also like his song Skugge.
Edit: I listen to Wardruna to sleep too. It’s very soothing. Danheim is as well.
The relaxation factor with Wardruna's music has a scientific basis. The underlying drone that you hear in the song is common in sacred music from all ancient cultures around the world. That sound literally effects the brain by shifting waveforms. It's similar to the use of binaural sounds for meditation and sleep. It places you in a particular headspace.
It helps that it's an organic drum, not artificial, plastic, rubber or whatever they use.
Do Viking Suite, the lead singer of Wardruna is Einar Selvik and he worked with the composer Trevor Morris on the show Vikings, he also made guest appearances on the show.
Einar Selvik, the lead singer of Wardruna, worked with Trevor Morris on most seasons of Vikings.
It's filmed on the island of Tustna in Norway. The underwater scenes are from a lake in Norway (flooded village). Einar appeared in Vikings (TV show) as a singer in season 4, episode 6.
Thank you for the nice reaction video. We shot it mainly on the island of Tustna in Norway with Ragnarok Film company
Wardruna Hellvegen with Aurora is pure magic 🙂 (live)
He did it but hasn't posted it yet.
The Upload will be up this week and it was A-mazing! Big shoutout to that Mike M guy for steering me in this direction
Possibly an unpopular opinion…but the album version without Aurora is better🖖
My friend was at that show. So jealous
Love your open and inviting reaction. First: Yes, you remember him from "Vikings". Einar Selvik more or less identical with Wardruna. The mountain Lyfjaberg (= healing mountain literally) is one of several mountains in Scandinavia having the property of healing anything from severe deceases to love problems. The more hardship during the climbing the better. The female you see several times is the nordic goddess of healing and medicine: Eyr - Eyre - Eyra . In the same spirit may I suggest Gamle Grå also by Wardruna ua-cam.com/video/kFU7nRe7C0A/v-deo.html which is a song of the time when humans and wolfs hunted together.
The Old Norse word Lyfjaberg means ‘Healing-mountain’ and is known from Norse mythology as a place of comfort and cure for the sick and sore who manage to climb the mountain.“The song expresses that climbing a tough mountain, both in reality and metaphorically, is a mental as well as a physical effort. I have tried to write this journey up the mountain as one for the mind and spirit as much as the feet and body. Anything of true value, comes at a true cost,” says Einar Selvik. Climb the mountain it's worth it!...... The video for Lyfjaberg produced by Ragnarok Film .The mountains at Tustna and the spectacular Trollkirka caves in Norway serve as a beautiful backdrop.
Wardruna are amazing, songs are beautiful, melodic and makes you feel like gearing up for a battle
most songs are about peace living with nature in balance , family and friends ... chill bro .
I love this song and band so much. Einar (lead singer) is such an inspirational and unique individual. He is known for singing with a beautiful sense of despair and knowledge of things we do not know. Thank you for having the open mind to listen to and enjoy. Discovered this band not too long ago and they've changed my life.
This song has a very deep meaning despite its simplicity.
Raido, Skugge, Kvitravn and Gra are all songs by Wardruna with music videos if you wanted to explore the band with visuals first. Truly one of the greatest artists of our time. And I mean that.
Norse Folk has great music. Yes, Einor Selvik did music for Vikings Tv show and was in a few episodes singing. It's traditional old Norse. Great music.
I'd recommend more Wardruna, Skáld "run", "Grotti", or "ò Valhalla".
Danheim has many great songs too. Even the title song to Vikings - Fever Ray "If I had a heart"
So this type of music is known as "Pagan Folk". The band's lead singer is an ardent modern Norse Pagan. Modern Pagans have faiths based in the pre-Christianization beliefs and Gods, and often includes elements of animism (the belief that everything that exists has a soul like humans do). This song is based in animist trancework. The song guides the listener to let their soul go on a journey from the body to the healing mountain, where they can overcome their worldly burdens, masks, and concepts of time and fear, and in doing so, by making it to the top, heal themselves. It's a beautiful and deeply spiritual song to other pagans like myself.
I could see how much you felt it
I think thats exactly how I reacted to the first time hearing Wardruna
Glad you enjoyed it! Wardruna are very historically inspired, they try only to use period-available music instruments, sing in the closest we can recreate of the old Norse tongue, and sing about subjects that would have been familiar to the vikings. For example the majority of their songs are named for, and inspired by, the runic (Futhark) symbols that were both meaningful but also an alphabet to the vikings.
Thanks for your reaction, really love Wardruna 😍 Greetings fram Norway 🇳🇴
This band reaches in and touches your soul in a way you didn’t even know you needed. It’s just beautiful. Found these guys during lockdown and I was instantly addicted.
Warndurna is one the main people who does the music for the Vikings. He also does the music for the new Viking Assassin's Creed game.
I love Wardruna...Einar Selvik amazing voice..is a powerful song...i relax ...Tanks reaction...more wardruna please🔥❤
:D Hiya! I had much the same reaction when I saw this one. YES PLEASE, more of this, how stunning! I love that this version has an English translation, but I am SO fascinated by the fact that I can pick up a word here and there.
This is just the beginning. Wardruna has a multitude of spectacular videos and music. I was watching one of their payed, streaming broadcasts, and people all over the world were chiming in on the chat bar. That's what type of an effect this band has on people. Might I suggest the live performance of Wardruna's "Helvegen", with another Norwegian performer Aurora (amazing in her own right).
Check out andvevarljod and skugge from them. Skugge has a lyrical video with Norwegian and English lyrics on opposite sides of the screen. Some others I really love by this band
Kvitraven, gra, radio, tyr, snake pit poetry....the list goes on and on.
Found this channel looking for reactions to them. Wardruna brings me home to my Nordic roots and I told the hubby to play their music when I’m on my way to the other side…..
Thanks man. Subscribed* 🙂
Einar Selvik actually made music for the soundtrack of Vikings.
ye its a trip to a healing mountain
Raido
Voluspa
Kvittraven
The song Helvegen, live by Wardruna +Aurora is an epic song. Look for the indoors live version.
I’ve been to Norway four times and hearing Wardruna makes me homesick for Norway every time even though I’m Dutch.
I think you’ve got to revisit Heilung. In Maidjan. Alfadhirhaiti. Othan. Krigsgaldir. Voluspa.
I'm here to back up everybody suggesting Helvegen.
I saw them live for the first time yesterday. And will see them again in August. You’re right, this is musical medicine. You can meditate to this
This actually is my favorite video... They made it May of 2020 and the weather was supposed to be good(the place is an island in the northwest of Norway) but when they got there an extremely cold blast came from the north and temps plummeted and started to snow. They had to stay there for three days because they couldn't get out due to the bad weather.
Wardruna is truly an incredible experience.
Lyfjaberg will give you some wild dreams
If you haven't already, please check out Heilung. It's Nordic folk music. Heilung is "Amplified History", and quite the experience.
My wife likes "Hagal" by Wardruna as much as she does "Painkiller" by Judas Priest.
Another song to simply enrich yourself is "The Epic of Gilgamesh" by Peter Pringle.
More Norse (Norwegian) Artists for you: Aurora Aksnes, Einar Selvik (Wardruna), Angelina Jordan, Maria Franz, Sigrid Solbakk, Allan Walker, Anne Nørdsti, Astrid Smeplass, Susanne Sundfør, are just some of them.

It's a great song to relax. Also great songs are Wardruna - Kvitravn (White Raven) and Wardruna - Raido, if you are interested.

This music is fodder for the soul :)
This is considered ''Norwegian Folk Metal'' I suppose. And it's filmed in Norway.
The right word is - Norwegian Black Metal - Taken back to its roots....
Kvitravn is my favorite from Wardruna 😊
I am a simple Norwegian, when a stranger compliment our nature, I click like.
(edit) I'm SO glad more and more people react to Wardruna, they are so underrated and deserve attention. Since you are now HOOKED (your own words) Please watch and react to their song "Kvitravn".
(edit 2) LOVE your reaction!
Hør hør!
this kind of music grabs your DNA and doesn't let go , how about anything from Hielung Lifa concert?.
he did music for the show Vikings and on Assassin's Creed Valhalla video game...
Einar has actually appeared on the show Vikings twice I believe, he also helps write a lot of the music for it.
In other news I recently bought tickets to see these guys next year and I plan to be the most stoned any human has ever managed to be and literally melt ito my seat.
Do Eivor - i Tokuni reaction when you have the time. Some beautiful singin from Faroe island. She has an amazing voice.
"Falling Free" is another powerful track... Eivor is amazing!
13:55 there is nothing wrong with that, I use some of his music and some other pagan like music to sleep because it's very relaxing and almost hypnotic in a way. I have several other playlists I use for sleep as well. Usually older music from the 30s or 40s because of the simplicity and soundtracks like for example from the movie gladiator. I can get really sucked into it and it's very easy to fall to sleep to because you just get sucked in and your mind just goes blank.
The old nordic tribal/shamanism is close to Indian tribal and shamanistic ways . The roots of shamanism are everywhere. Some cultures just stick them better than others.
Roman empire is a big reason why it's not so widely known in Europe anymore.
..."Völuspa" is an other good one, heck all his songs are great 🙂
Can't wait for you to react to Kvitravn from them.
Einar is amazing
I see you e done a Hu reaction. There’s a band bloodywood from India. They mash up metal and Indian music. It’s pretty awesome. A lot of their songs all have very deep meanings to them that they get into at the end of some of their videos, so watch til the end of you do check them out. Get the tissues ready for some of them.
This is in Norway ;)
This is a very cool Reaction :-)
Wardruna - Helvegan & Voluspa
I hope you make a video of Vardruna Kvitravn too :-)
You really need to give Heilung a go...they are true tribal. Wardrunna are more folksy. Heilung touch your primal soul :)
this is my sleeping and meditation song
Enjoy your journey to sleep tonight. You will go far, just imagine you are soaring.
Awesome that you're loving both Aurora and Wardruna. I think you also might like another Norwegian band. Please react to Kalandra- Borders. ua-cam.com/video/zHh4t38f9AM/v-deo.html
I dont know if anybody mentioned this in chat, but the singer of Wardruna was brought in to work directly on the music for the show Vikings. He even had at least one cameo. Also made some of the music for the game Assassins creed valhalla.
I second your suggestion. Kalandra is way underrated! And their cover of Helvegen is the best one out there aside of Wardruna ft. Aurora!
You need to try Heilung 😉Lifa album in live is on youtube and this is crazy!
Since you liked Wardruna I would suggest Heilung also. Either Krigsgaldr live or Norupo. I think you will like this amazing band as well. Please see the links below.
ua-cam.com/video/QRg_8NNPTD8/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/64CACoHNBEI/v-deo.html
Oh yes, that path is predestined!
You definitely must watch this videos:
AURORA - MURDER SONG (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert,
Maria Franz of Heilung - LIFA Vocals,
Voluspá - Orchestral version by Einar Selvik,
Heilung Norupo [Official Music Video].
Please do Einar in viking suit 😍
I think the word you are looking for is: enchanted.
I live in Ohio too and we have the Ledges and other quarries but it's a drive lol
Dark-folk music! I like Wardruna and their "ancient/ancestral" instrumentation that send "us" in the "Past" (Vikings times - VIII-XI century, after Christ).
I also love Norwegian landscapes and I hope to reach those lands, one day 🤓!
ua-cam.com/video/CxwJrzEdw1U/v-deo.html
My best boy-friend got his name (Odin) from the Norwegian mythology (his parents chose this name for him, even if It's such a rare one for a Romanian guy - I am Romanian). My first book that I read - about Norwegians - was "Vikings" by Frans Bengtsson, when I was 10-12 y-o. 🇷🇴 🇧🇻
By the way, I like your reactions (and your wife's)!
You might enjoy "Odin" by Faun featuring Wardruna - ua-cam.com/video/ch-fed2_swY/v-deo.html Thanks for reacting to this one!
You want more like that? Here is Faun - Egil Saga ua-cam.com/video/6oYmc9WTdSs/v-deo.html
The irony is he used to be in a metal band…ur not far off
More of this kind of music - Skald "Run": ua-cam.com/video/s9NIBZfVBW4/v-deo.html
