- I'm FINALLY building a TRX4 Mud Truck! I take the new black Traxxas TRX4 Blazer and converting it by starting with the Traxxas Long Arm Lift Kit. There's going to be a ton of upgrades to this truck, so I hope you'll stay tuned.

Got myself a brand new trx-4 black blazer for my birthday. Went on my first amazing trail run & immediately realized I had to pick up a beater crawler cause this thing is waaaay too nice lol

I feel the the 1.9 proline boggers would look killer and add a good bit of height
I personally would add wider wheel hexes for a wider stance. It does look pretty bad ass though! Good job Matt 👌
That body looks great!! I have the 1979 Ford Bronco and left it all black and chrome.
A set of aggressive cut Boggers would look great on it!
Awesome that you showed what it looked like on the 1.9...everyone else just jumps to the successful conclusion, it's nice to see the "why"...
This is going to be so cool. Need to make it smoke. Smoke from an over size tail pipe tip. Or a stack in hood that shoots black smoke straight up. Can you imagine the crowds reaction when your pulling through the mud and it just starts rolling coal.
They have real smoke exhaust setups for drift cars. You could easily install one on this rig.
Looks great, I just picked one up from my local hobby store. Can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with this. Keep up the good work.
You read my mind. I’m currently working on lifting the one I have and thinking of some changes so I’m interested to see what you come up with. It looks great with the lift kit and the 2.2 tires.

We do enjoy the Traxxas content on your channel. Particularly builds like this one. My son and I are building a TRX4 Sport kit together. We picked out the Pro Line 1.9 boggers and will try fitting them with out a lift kit. A challenge yes but one we want to try. So your timing with this series is perfect. Love it dude thanks!!!

I think personally needs a brushless system.
Mud trucks have big power.

In the process of doing something very similar with the K5! So excited!
I mostly enjoy really tiny e-clips, especially when they go flying into far off hard to reach places. It's my favorite. I'd throw some mud at it then change things.
Dude that was exactly what I wanted my mud truck to be out of. Was going to put fling kings on it. My birthday is the 25th and my real name is Matt too! Think already have told you that. Go on and sell it to me when you get done. I'm loving it. Hope my store still has one by my birthday!!
This is going to be a wicked mudd truck, you should compair it to your axial scx10ii 69' K5 Blazer mudd truck when you're finished I have both Blazer's as well the black one will stay stick a tribute to my Dad he had a 1980 black K5 when I was in HS I learned to mudd with it 😉👍
I just took my lower shock rod ends off and removed the bump stops. Because if you don't you don't gain any flex. Only ride height. My trx4 blazer body got lowered down 1 body hole as well so now I'm getting more articulation but keeping the height down as much as possible. Plus the light weight springs are awesome. Just tips from recent experience. I bought mine with lift kit already on it.
I won a TRX4 black edition in a raffle and love it. I have added the rock crawler lights as well as the front and rear lights. I just installed the red interior with driver and passenger. Looks awesome.

Those wheels are money. I'm a fan of the factory cut boggers on the ryft, for tires. I also like mudslingers and fling kings but that k5 needs some super swampers on it. Or maybe somebody should start making old school grounghawgs, they were awesome mud tires. Truck looks great, glad to see you building a mud truck, they are my favorite. Y'all have a badass day 🤘
I'd brass out everything at wheel level in the front. maybe alum axles housings . I'd do a 550 Axe esc and motor
You need a big brushless combo in that. Maybe a 5700 kv and a mamb x. Mud will be flyin.

I’ve never really been a huge fan of them, the Trx4’s already have pretty high CG with those portals and accessories.
But if this is gonna be a diehard mud truck, I’m excited!
If you get the lift kit and set the preload way down it is actually pretty wild what it can do. One of the other Crawler UA-cam Channels had a set up and it would climb right up curbs and stuff. Here is the link:

Rc4wd 2.2 XL Mudslingers. I put them on the bronco, and they are aggressive both in looks and mud.
Yeah that is a beautiful Chevy blazer blacks my favorite color, most of my RC’s are black, this is going to be super cool I will be following thank you
I still haven't done the gaming PC rig yet now we're jumping to mud trucks I flipping and love it
My next step would be to start cadding stuff for it so it takes even longer until I would be able to drive it, first up would be de new front for those K5 trucks, I like it a lot more than the old one
$378 worth of upgrades, you have to love traxxas prices.
That's nothing so many ppl waste so much more on vacations that are only a memory days later at thousands of dollars, consoles at $550 games at $80, so much and here for $378 u have a badass rig that u can enjoy for many years!
I installed the lift on my sport. I definitely think if you’re crawling throw the stock shocks in as they are softer. As for mud truck fun stock springs are good
I would definitely put overdrive in it it's missing mud tires. Your next truck you do for $50 week upgrades with Josh love to see you guys turn a RC four-wheel-drive TF2 into a Rock bouncer.
The truck definitely looks awesome, i love traxxas blazers. It needs some fling kings, the only way to go. Strange installment from SBG though for sure.

I agree lights are needed since all the buckets are so nice. I have brass in hand, chrome push bar, proscale lights... waiting on a servo for my first build segment. I think the Long Arm will be stage 2 for me. I'm searching for some beadlock chrome 8 holes to replace these with that same chrome look. Yours already looks like a monster now!
I built what I referred to as my personal trail truck but everyone called it a mud truck. It was a black and red TRX4 BRONCO that I changed everything on except the body, the diff locking and 2 speed transmission servos only because no one had made any replacements which is ultimately why I got rid of it but it was badass. Created my own high clearance links into a lift kit, Hot Racing 100 or 110mm internal spring shocks. KYX alloy steel axle housings, Hot Racing brass outer portal housings, Treal Alloy inner housings, Yeah racing brass bumper replacement that allowed me to move the servo out and I thought it would be too much but it handled it perfectly. Tallest tire I could find were the RC4WD 2.2,Monster Mudder tractor tires on some eBay black with red ring 2.2 alloy bead locks that were really nice for everyone who's going to talk shit about them. Hot Racing hardened spring steel axles. 45kg servo, Samix servo horn and Samix brass axle link mounts, Castle Mamba X with a 4600kv castle sensored motor. It had as much power as you needed in low and was fast in high, great COG believe it or not but here's some info for you if you're interested. Probably more than you wanted to know but figured I'd tell you about all of it just in case. Oh yeah I didn't like the plastic driveshafts so I installed Team Raffee I believe driveshafts that worked great
I'd keep it as a trail truck. Mudd truck for a day, all good. But in the end an equipped trail truck, maybe a hunting rig.
I'd move the servo forward about half an inch and install a 3 horsepower(on 6s) 1/8th Puller Pro 4274S. I run one in my TRX4...its been in there for years. It's super smooth AND incredibly powerful. It'll blow through any mud hole(even on 3s). I have nearly every Puller Pro and Revolver...the 4274S is an absolute "controllable" BEAST.
Funny....it still gets great battery mileage.

I just installed my lift kit as well. Actually went with the treal widened stub axles with brass hexes. Needed a little wider stance with my new Jeep body.
ADV Van lifer here, TBH I would love to see something like this with a Ford Transit body! Then it could match our real rig. :)

Did a similar build I went with the big proline boggers 5inch tall tire on 1.9 wheel works really well.

Brad- does the Velineon system work on these crawlers?. I always wondered how these brushed motors stand up to the moisture
@@philipmazzuca2269 , I have never owned a Velineon system. All of my brushless systems are sensored Castle Mamba X combo’s.

Looks great, I did the same thing to the same truck, I got same 2.2s also...they look cool lifted...I use my sport for crawling and the blazer for trail and mud...

Check out some of the mud racing in parts of Florida.You might get some great ideas for scale realism that may help to meet your goal on this build.But it's looking fantastic.

I did one like this this spring with the 69 black blazer, it turned out great with axial 2.2's and axial rims🤣 I was inspired by your scx2 mud truck build! But I made it more of a snow truck!

Sweet build, I have considered putting my trx4 together as a mud truck so many times, I like the look of the 2.2 fling kings instead of the 2.8. But if I did it I don't think I could resist putting 2.2 renegades on it. May not be aggressive enough for the mud, but I was surprised how far my smt build would go in the rocks with those on it.
Looks dope I made a mistake and I ended up buying me axial wraith spawn and I should have gotten the K5 complete waste of money I have to think about maybe next time picking this one up when it's possible hope you're having a good one will see you later on tonight enjoy
Dang it man you got me to buy a Traxxis today. My LHS had one of these in black in stock so now they don’t 😏 I plan to follow a similar route over time since I have my SCX 10iii that I built and painted to match my 1:1 scale Jeep

I might make a video finally showing off my build. It’s fully built or going to be. Had motor relocation traxxas pro kit lights, lc70 killer body, mamba x brushless, triple 7 servos winches all of it lol. It would be fun to do a comparison against yours. It’s all metal converted as well.
Unless u don't want articulation, I'd strongly suggest removing the stupid spacers on the shock shafts and allow the shocks to have full travel.. which works best in the rear. But if u do it on the front. Using the stock panhard may be a better option

Perhaps you can make trailer for this truck to tow your comp truck. And you have just created a new 2022 season t-shirt, in case you had not
noticed. The muddiest name in the business and instead of the American brand, just add a Maple Leaf with SBG initials. Fun wrench vid✌😁

I installed the long arm kit on my trx4 but swapped out the included springs for the soft or white springs and I removed the limiters. I then went with the hobbywing axe 550 R2 3300kv system. I have 1.9 boggers which are 5.4 inches but I would like some suggestions on foams as they are too soft now. It is an amazing crawler even with the lift and I can't say enough about the axe system
