Remove the lift kit, keep the portal and put 4.45" tall 1.9 Pitbull Rockbeast on nice aluminium beadlock! The 1972 K5 Blazer body is gorgeous!!!! Great review again Matt! Keep up the good work!
Except the TRX4 is a better platform than the TT02. I agree they need to shake things up a bit with the TRX4 platform. More than new bodies and lift kits.
@Rich Schoonover that's kind of the point. When the TT-02 came outit was a great platform. 20+ years later, not so much. Traxxas & Tamiya both wring every last penny out of their designs
@@richschoonover4391 need some of that straight axle action i want to barf whenever i see portals on something thats supposed to look like a 40 year old truck, not a 40 year old truck modded by Kid rock as an rtr / even a kit. Nice review, thanks for not yelling at your audience with the "big UA-cam" voice. One of the reason's I have enjoyed hanging out with your videos over the years. Plus you do a professional level of editing that is absent in some other channels. Kudos
I have enjoyed your videos in general for the last few years. I like the layout of this one for new trucks or cars, first impression, cinematic driving, AND the commentary real-time driving. I appreciate the honest review, the good, the bad, and the indifferent. As well as a little opinion based guidance for those considering the rig as another one in their fleet, or as a new to the hobby purchaser. Thanks for all your hard work and content.
That's such a sexy looking rig, I don't think I could change the look much. A little weight to help the center of gravity. A better servo. Metal wheels, retro of course. You are spot on regarding the windows, those stickers are horrific. Really like the half music half commentary and your taste in tunes is fantastic. I dig that Deep Purple vibe you put down with that drive. Always a pleasure to view. Thanks for what you do!
I feel like the locking diffs add a fun additional technical dimension to driving. I do unlock the diffs when I come off the rocks, and lock them back up when climbing or going over very rough stuff.
Saw one of these in person yesterday. The body is definitely wider than my TRX4 Bronco and with the larger wheels and lift, it simply looks like a larger truck. Just awesome and have always loved this generation of Chevy Blazers.
It’s great to see the truck crawling along real time. Does a good job of showing the trucks performance. Your commentary is right on. Like RC Driver, it’s honest. Thanks for all you do for our hobby!
I know the truck is old news. But I just got mine used slightly damaged but only driven 10 feet. Lol someone gave a five-year-old the keys. In the house at Christmas. Lol so I bought it secondhand and I instantly went to your UA-cam page to see what you had to say about this purchase I just made. I think it has great potential as a trail truck. And I expect smiles and happiness from it. But one thing I am very disappointed about is the advertised long travel suspension? Being shortened 10 mm by hard plastic.(bump stop.) 😢 I would call that false advertisement. Bump are not hard plastic.🤪 but a little work removing the bump stops. Moving the pan hard bar and now my truck is using the full 110 mm shocks. Thank you, Traxxas.
I like the commentary with the test drive. It makes the drive more authentic. You provide honest comments when you do this. It reminds me a little of what West Desert Wheeler does, but more about the model and less about the crawling technique. The Blazer is a great truck and good that Traxxas changed up the wheelbase for more variety in driving experience and the way truck looks.
SOA conversion, 4-link conversion, throw some Boggers on it or 2.2 TSL SX's and the curveball for the tires I present to you is cut treads. Cut treads can really help make these high trails more distinct for that big lifted mudder look
Love running the trucks in the woods. We have miles of trails with obstacles, bridges, and scale rock formations to conquer near my house and it's my after work favorite park to visit when I can' take my full size jeep out wheeling. Running an RC crawler will teach you about picking better lines for full size driving.
Looks good. I agree it could use a white top, I do like the on-road commentary. Great drive, the last "still" shot made it look very proportional. Checking bank account... 😮
I really appreciate the overlay so we can hear the truck and not just the music. That was a fantastic editing choice; not bad music either. I would prefer ONLY commentary driving, but I am admittedly eccentric. I cant watch videos where the music replaces the truck noises and is obnoxious.. Thank you for the review. I went an got one and could not be happier with it.
Love the body. The high trail, less so. What would I like to see you do? I'd say, slightly lower, slightly smaller tires. Not to the extent you did on the Ford, but more of a period correct "lifted" Blazer, but less "cartoonish monster truck" look. Other than the excessive height, I REALLY like the looks of this one. Probably my favorite TRX4 body style yet!
Ya. Me too. Well…. I bought a black 69 Blazer body. A TRX4 builders kit and the high lift kit. Looks like I wasn’t the only one with that vision. Speaking of the top. I got some white vinyl (the automotive style for dash and door panels) and plan to somehow incorporate it onto the top of an eventual “White Bronco” build.
I bought the 79 F150 High trail and I have full intentions of lowering it but the thing looked so good i bought a set of 1.9 proline boggers (5.4 inch) and a set of rc4wd deep dish wagon wheels and the thing blew my mind at "Beat The Creek" I am 100% in love with it for a trail truck!
Not usually a fan of big, old school lifted trucks in real life or RC… but I kinda want one of these for some reason. I also like the real time commentary. WDW style
When I was a kid in the early 80’s my uncle had a full-size Blazer very similar to this. It was show truck quality. He and his buddy built them. Then he was out on the highway jacking around and rolled it like 3 times. He was never the same after that. That thing was cherry!!!
@@scalebuildersguild maybe I should’ve offered further clarification. He walked away with no scratches or bumps or broken anything. His truck was fully caged and he was buckled in. Up to that point he was into motorcycles and hunting and building show trucks with his buddy and what not. He was one cool dude but after that rollover he wasn’t cool and fun anymore. Ha ha ha!!! Good dude though. Loved him to bunches.
Scale rock crawling would also include rocks, water crossings, hills climbs scale to the truck. Not massive rocks and submarine the truck on water crossings. The truck is out of its element over boulders that big. I think the truck did quite well under those conditions.
"Maybe even lowering it. That's always fun to do. Seems to annoy the internet a lot, which is good!". I LOVE IT! Please keep being annoying! And more test drives in the woods!

The 79 Blazer also has the same length chassis (312mm) and I'm hoping they will release a clipless version of the 79 that will be a direct fit to this one. Enjoying the wood drive with the commentary.
If you could show us what the high trails look like sitting lower with 4.75 or so tires that would be awesome, I seen the one where you did that to the Ford truck and I was definitely looking for someone that had done it and you were the first person I found that did. I'm just not a fan of the huge tires and the lift. Thank you for putting out awesome content matt! Your channel is my favorite channel on UA-cam!
