Let me guess, pardee?Amador? Camanche? Looks like a foothill reservoir in norcal and those lakes are known for planting big lassen strain trout and lightning trout.
Looks like you got in on the tail end of a trophy stocking. Moved from PNW to the east coast, and trolling for trout was one of my favorite things to do. Good stuff!

I’m from Indiana I use light line on everything. Have friends that use 10-20.
I use 6 on most everything. I do put 8 on the two bait casting reels that I own. But that’s as high as I go. Sometimes 4 if the water is really clear.

The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

That fish goes by a bunch of different names, Palomino is another one. They are a cross between a rainbow and a golden trout.
No they're not. They're a genetic mutation of the rainbow trout that has been developed over decades. They don't crossbreed true golden trout and rainbows together although some hybridization does happen out in the wild. A true golden trout doesn't look like a banana, they have spots and parr marks and olive green on top

Idk about those fish being normal. Typically stocked trout are 12-15 inches and are maybe a half lb.

I never realized the Bay Area stocked Palomino trout. I've been trying to catch them here in Idaho for the last few years but none of them ever seem to like my lures while the normal rainbows love whatever I throw.
The fire tiger rapala seems to work well here!

Not 100% sure but I think it’s Lake Chabot. Maybe he’ll confirm.
Looks like one of the Eastbay regional parks. They plant the lighting trouts. Chabot had lighting planted about three weeks ago.
