Adam, we don't have Dungeness crabs in Socal. But a few years back I went to Ports of Call to buy some live. I miss handled one,and I'm telling you it pinched the Cowboy Dog Dokie out of me. So moral of the story (be careful). Nice video 😊
Suggestion: attach weights to the inside of the trap doors, so that they close completely when the crab walk in. Sometimes the big ones get away when another crab walks in and the door doesn't close right away
The halibut bite near N.Brighton and Capitola finally kicked in with some really nice fish . Huge reds( max limit 4) some near 10lbs also available in the deep water
Way too many things have been jumping in my way this year for crabbing. My kingdom for a trip to the beach!! I hope to be able to get out on the party boats this season too. Nice to see you doing a crab trip! Thanks Adam
Do you need to pay any extra fee if you’re using hoop nets? I thought that if you use hoop nets you can just use your fishing license but have to mark the buoy with your number. Awesome video man.
I hope you eat inside the shell of the crab, unlike a lot of people in Florida and Carolina, where they take the shell off and clean the fats between the body.
If you throw your buoy out first then let it straighten out your rope you don’t have to worry about having to slowly lower it down with the heavy weight.
If everyone kept all the caught reds they are helping reducing the competition for food for dungeness and hopefully increase their quantity, size and quality of their meat. Also for those who don't like Reds, I learned that red crab makes great soup stock.
Thank you! They are plentiful and available all year round. There are always friends, family or needy families who would love some crab. Crab fried rice is good. Stock, chowder, crab cakes, etc. Same for purple sea urchins which are invasive and destroy kelp forests. Good to dive for or collect near shore.
I wonder something if u can try it for me I would really appreciate it and I think others would love to see what happens if u take a clove of garlic and use it as bait - for fish and crabs.... please. I know it works for mud crabs. But I wonder if it will in the Pacific I bet unless they read this no one could guess what it is (if it also works)
Thanks! I have experimented with a few different mics but it’s really hard to do on a kayak. With water splashing everywhere I had to get rid of the external mics as they kept getting dunked with water
@@ogoe_joeoutdoors1088 this closure really blows my mind - five four and three years ago they were talking about how well everything was going as well as they were placing the young salmon in the rice fields and were growing bigger healthier fish - and now No Fish ?

Thanks for the tip!
wouldnt that make it harder for the crab to get inside in the first place
@@Broletariatt96 not at all. They're very strong & you only need to put a small weight, like 3 ounces or so.
The halibut bite near N.Brighton and Capitola finally kicked in with some really nice fish . Huge reds( max limit 4) some near 10lbs also available in the deep water
Awesome video Adam. It was nice to finally meet you at the NickFish Halibut Tournament yesterday.
Nice to meet you too!
If this were Taku, he would have accidentally dropped the first two males while turning around to put them in the cooler :D
Like to see a catch and cook with those crabs
Nothing like a good Crab feast! Awesome video!
Excellent video Adam! You will eat well tonight!!

Nice to see you doing a crab trip!
Thanks Adam
Thanks for keeping us motivated in the bay!!
Good tip to carry a compass when out on the open ocean. Electronics can always fail.
Mad respect for releasing the females 💯💪
Great catches Adam 👍👍👍 thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Hey man I been watching your videos and I will like to know what battery size you have for the kayak ?

Nice haul! Caught some off the pier the other day they're still hittin! 🦀🦀 Crab on!
Nice Job! I thought for sure the coast was cleaned out.
Still a few left!
I hope you eat inside the shell of the crab, unlike a lot of people in Florida and Carolina, where they take the shell off and clean the fats between the body.
Ooooo those look so nice..hope you had a great feast! 🦀 🤘🏻
Nice crabbing! I live in Chicago...wish I lived where I could fish for seafood 😢 i thought 10 was a limit???
Awesome tutoring, how about a catch and cook with those crabs
If you throw your buoy out first then let it straighten out your rope you don’t have to worry about having to slowly lower it down with the heavy weight.
That’s a good strategy too!
can you talk about your kayak rig? trolling motor on it? thx!
I have a video about it from a while back here it is:

More crab please!!!
Is this in HMB? foghorn sounds familiar 🙂
If everyone kept all the caught reds they are helping reducing the competition for food for dungeness and hopefully increase their quantity, size and quality of their meat. Also for those who don't like Reds, I learned that red crab makes great soup stock.
Also keep all the red females. That too will reduce their population and help the dungeness.

That’s a good point!
How do you wet suit up nearly every day?? Do your crab pots have a "rot line" so lost ones don't fish forever??
It definitely pays to have a nice wetsuit! Haha
And yes the pots do have the rot lines in case the trap gets lost
@@DieHardFishing For general INFO; You described the pots but left our that detail.
Nothing better then dungy
Nice Adam

Hello, Olaf how are you? Has Adam taken you to the beach lately? I have not seen you on a vlog in awhile! 😥
I was ur 1k like woo cooking up some lake e walleye watching ur video
Late season score!
Great video Adam. Just one suggestion. Please buy yourself a quality microphone.
Thanks! I have experimented with a few different mics but it’s really hard to do on a kayak. With water splashing everywhere I had to get rid of the external mics as they kept getting dunked with water
Awesome!
Congrats on that big hali!!!! You deserved that one!
if they are allowing crabbing are they lifting restrictions on Salmon ???
Not the same thing. Whale tangling on ropes is on a different scale than low fish counts

Still no salmon fishing unfortunately
Why u going for crab when the halibut are hitting. Cause you know u can catch them anytime.
I have a mobile and home radio...i have a HAM license!
Another UA-camr from the Bay Area uses milk jugs on his traps and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the maximum soak 2 hours? Thanks
Do you give lessons ? I will Pay .
How do you rate your 120 Auto pilot ?
