People are just afraid of em, and that turns into bad training / temperment unfortunately. They dont need much training but all dogs need a healthy balance 👍🏽
I almost got attacked once, the dog fucking growled in a low decibal but damn it was loud, then, the dog started to approach towards me growling. I took out my knife, yelled at the dog and slowly stepped back

That said, you could hardly say they have the sweetest face since they vary so wildly. I guess I should have specified pure breeds, and that of those, goldens have the sweetest faces.

We just turned our Labrador into a home security system by tying a bell to his tail. Now every time a burglar breaks in he’s gonna start wagging his tail and we will hear the bell.

My family had a Rottweiler for 9 years. We adopted him and was a week away from getting euthanized. He was the sweetest dog I’ve ever known. Never barked, though did like to howl at sirens. He was the bestest boi. He passed in 2020. Really was a gentle giant.
When my Labrador passed and I know she was a good friend with our neighbor’s Golden Retriever so when I met my neighbor walked his GR I told his GR that his sweet Labrador has passed. I was shocked to see the GR sobbed and had tears in his eyes. He whined and cried and pulled me to his house. This GR and my Labrador were such a sweet good friends. Few months later I met the neighbor and he told me after our last conversation about my passed away dog, his dog was heart broken and had stopped eating. He passed away in less than a month after my dog. Dogs have golden hearts and they love each other so much.

Golden Retrievers are the absolute sweetest dogs. Unfortunately some have health problems as a result of bad breeding. Get one from a good breeder, and you'll never regret it.

Idk about that but I had 3month old golden retriever dude was so cheerful absolute unit of a cuteness but unfortunately dude got some virus at. 4month we gave him best treatment we can buy but his condition gott worst to worst at around his 5th month and end of the 1week of his treatment bro got so week he died that day and my whole family missed everyday miss him hope he is doing good at heaven
Golden retrievers are the most aggressive dog breed Ive ever encountered, been attacked by like 5 of them unwarranted just this year alone, whether it be walking my dog at a dog park or just walking alone down my street. Overrated af breed

I love rotties. My neighbor had one growing up, it not only watched out for her kids, she kept an eye on all kids. I had a German shepherd/doberman so I was already safe, but it had my back as well

Rotties will always be my favorite. My parents have owned them since I was 9 and they are the sweetest with kids and wonderful protectors. My Rory who has passed on now always watched over my nieces and was there pillow on the couch ❤

Had a german shepherd as a kid, it really cared about me and my sister, had a great personality, and whenever we went on walks, she would always join in and go for the people that were behind like if we were sheep and she rounded us up

working line labs are no joke. When mine was young she'd dig under any fence and somehow rip the door of any kennel, still don't know how she did that.
My Rottweiler saw a mouse in my desk, she ripped the drawer out and shredded it, would not let me near her prey, scarey
We had one who would eat cedar shingles off the house like it was corn on the goddamned cob.

Our Rottie was the best, after his real training, I was able to take him as a kid and train him on non verbal commands. he was so smart!

I feel like people need to understand that all dogs can be great family pets. I recently rescued a dog, who is half pit. One of the sweetest dogs I have ever had.

I’ve had three shelter pits and small children over the last twenty years. They’re the best. Don’t listen to people that can’t even spell their own name correctly. Prob from somewhere people abuse animals.

I think the German Shepherd deserved a spot on this list. For a long time they were the most popular family dog in the United States.

Our family's white boxer was the most good hearted, funny, sweet soul in the world. He thought he was a lap dog and wanted all the snuggles, but also loved to run and played beautifully with my kids, as well as with other dogs. Never so much as growled at anyone, even our cats. And I know that boxers don't have the reputation for being the smartest dogs ever, but I swear to Dog, that boy understood every word we said to him. Based on my (albeit limited) experience with boxers, I'd say they would easily make top 5. ❤

Our boxer was an incredible family dog too and he was very clever and easily trained. Would take a boxer over a rottie any day of the week.

I had a pitbull named Crona, died 2021 or 2022, she was a sweet, docile, yet protective girl, whom had once stood between my mom, dad, and older brother whom was a baby atm, and i wasn't even a thought yet, and a coyote, which we had ran into on a walk. She was an example of a well trained Pitbull, and entirely fine with kids, and my mom and dad weren't afraid she'd hurt us if they left her with us.
Very much, a family pet till the end.
ALSO, she was a shelter dog originally and brought us our first cat, Doc, whom is still alive, she was a little kitten that Crona brought in on a cold day.
I grew up owning papered dogs and my $100 shelter pit is the best dog I've ever owned. Beyond gentle with my children, wife, and cats and despite getting him at around 6 was super receptive to training. The only time I've ever seen him show signs of possible aggression was on a walk when we got in a hairy situation and it was warranted but didn't lash out and remained completely in my control, he just pulled tight to my legs and kept himself between me and the guy that had obvious bad intentions.
Shelter pits are the best dogs IMO and the more ethical choice over a bred dog.

We actually had one when I was growing up. High energy and strong as a damn horse. Me and my sister would try and walk her and instead we got dragged as she ran to the neighbors yard to eat the food scraps he threw out. She was a sweetheart however. She had two strokes however and we hadto put her down because she was blind and immobilized from them and we didn't wanna see her suffer

I have two springers right now, one has hip problems but loves life so much and still is able to do everything normally (and run around like crazy) but it’s still scary to see. The other ones a crazy little 3 year old that still acts like a little puppy. Sprinters are the joys of my life and they come in different sizes and energies so they fit any family. Awesome to hear that you’ve had them
@@JOENAD0 thanks. She was 18 when she died. She was full of life to very end. She lived upto the nicknames we gave her tho which was horse and garbage disposal on legs. Lol. I still remember getting ready for school one day and she wanted to get out but I told her no. She didn't like it so she climbed the fence and got out and walked inside. It was a 10 foot fence and she climbed it like a fucking monkey.

I haven't been without a Golden since 1984 each one a delight that took a piece of my heart with them. My current one is Evie she's nearly 2 and her brain is about to arrive.

As an accidental working line lab owner, I approve this message. My lab is an escape artist, she DEMANDS to roam around the street for hours😭😭we had to put extra fencing everywhere just to keep her inside. Oh and she will open doors and outsmart you at every point

Golden doodles often end up with double coat still and can shed so it’s a gamble when you get a puppy whether they will be shedders or not

I had a golden doodle. Got rid of the thing. I put it in a couple different training programs and I tried to train that dog. The dog was just crazy and couldn’t comprehend anything. I then got a chocolate lab, she’s trained GREAT. I did it myself. it wasn’t me or the trainer that couldn’t train that doodle, the dog was just plain dumb, the new owners still can’t teach him anything🤣 I warned them.
Very high maintenance for first time owners. Groomers are making banks off them. They need groom every 2-3 months.

My mother used to live on a horse ranch, and she had a Golden. She was sweet as can be. When one day two girls knocked on the door to ask about the ranch the she started growling at them, something she had never done before. Something about that scared my mom, so she started telling lies about how all the dogs on the ranch where aggressive and where roaming free at night and how they always locked the stables etc. A couple of weeks later these two girls where arrested for trying to poison horses on another ranch in the area. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though Goldens are kind and calm dog breads, they will still protect you. Although that depends on the character of the specific dog, but that goes for all breeds.

We have been graced with the honor of a Toffee, she's a lab/retriever and she's amazing. The most chill dog ever even as a puppy. Important not to over feed them, she developed 2 lumps we needed to remove cause my Dad kept giving her food from his dinners. I finally got him to stop and she's a healthy and happy 14yr old. They are very special dogs. And for those wanting a dog to feel safe... they're a great choice, she's got a very powerful bark when people come to the door. They're the best all rounder dog I've ever come across. I cuddle with her every night, don't know what I'll do without her ❤
They shed alot but it's beyond worth it 😅

Awww I’m so glad Rottweilers are finally getting recognized, all I’ve ever owned are Rottweilers and I have 4 babies. Never had an issue, such wonderful family dogs. Not the best with strangers though but that’s exactly why we own them.
Own two goldens can confirm, best loving dogs in the world and super smart. Good for hunting, handle the cold well and love everyone..... Including intruders. If I'm lucky and they aren't too tired they may bark at the intruder haha

We have another lab now, and he’s a peach of a dog! We also have three vehicles, but in the past, we’ve had the Rottweiler mix with malamute of all things, more labs, an Australian shepherd, and a bunch more I can’t even remember it’s been 50 years worth of dogs. We loved them all, but if I had to get any dog again, I would stay with the Labrador. Pure gold.

I started with high intensity dogs. 1st chow chow, German shepard, and then husky. My husband talked me into a golden retriever and I'm constantly blown away with how easy he is. I can see how they would be the best dog for first time owners. Hands down the easiest and most happy go lucky ive ever owned

I have 9 Goldens and one lab, gosh the Goldens are so sweet and their personalities are unmatched! My lab doesn’t have the personality but she is by far the most loyal dog out of the bunch! I love all 10 of them, they make life interesting!

I have a rott/newf mix. That dog is the best dog I have ever owned or met. He’s perfect. Incredibly patient with the kids, receptive to training, sweet, loving, but defensive if he senses that I’m uncomfortable. Last winter I was trying to get a trailer finished up in the yard after dark, and I kept getting the heebie jeebies, just a bad feeling. He was pawing and jumping at the door, so I let him out and he immediately started pacing and growling between me and the woods we own. I grabbed a flashlight and shone it down there. 6 pairs of eyes staring back at me. Pack of coyotes. And he was ready to tango w em all if they came up that hill
