      @@taramiller998 I have one to. His energy level is sky high. He's addicted to the bright green laser, loves to chase. After running in circles in a large field, he's much more relaxed on a leash. I thought about a treadmill because he's like the energizer bunny. Got to get the burst of energy out first.
      My nephew's pit is about 4 years old. He has a lot of energy to. He walks like a champ for me. Maturity also makes a difference.

    I have a standard golden doodle. Strongest dog I have ever had. Thought I could train her myself. I realized what I wanted was beyond my ability. So I took her to obedience classes. Second class, the instructor put on a prong collar. Gamer changer. She is very well behaved. Neighbors commented on what a difference on our walks. I am 65. She is over 70 lbs. I want to have control over her, not her over me.

    • @Guitarlord26
      @Guitarlord26 2 роки тому +17

      @@grzybeklampucerek4507 you clearly don’t understand how a prong collar works or what it does. It’s not about causing pain for the dog. It applies pressure equally around the whole neck as opposed to only the front. When dogs correct each other in nature they draw blood- this is not inhumane. This is how you properly communicate with a dog at the end of a leash.

    • @sarabellaj
      @sarabellaj 2 роки тому +5

      @@grzybeklampucerek4507 as long as they are fitted properly there's no way to hurt them. I've put on a choke collar and the prong. Even a flat collar will do more damage to the dog then a prong. Maybe you should try it before you talk about it.

I use them as my service dogs because I have some physical problems that require a big dog. Very happy to see such an improvement with Duke. Its because of bad trainers that these dogs end up in shelters.

    Purely positive trainers are causing a war that doesn’t need to be there. I strongly believe we shouldn’t in fight. We need to do what works for the dog to keep it in the home it’s in. If the owner requires a prong to handle their dog, then a prong is used. If the rot responds best to clickers, we use clickers.

    I am checking out your shop for courses because I watched you reacting to vids online, and many of your other vids, and everyttime you say something, I am agreeing. I feel like we both want the same things for our dogs, and share the same values. I've got a 5 month old American Bully (XL) and I'm fully aware of what I'm in for. I know she'll pull if I don't train that, same for lunging or being poorly socialised or weird around dogs and other stimuli. I know that for her to succeed, I have to really step up, cause I know training her will not be like training a lab (my older dog).
    Much love from Ireland.

    I'm new to the channel and I enjoy the content. great videos. one thing that might help a new dog owner not break their hand is how you hold the leash. Instead of wrapping it around your hand like most people take the leash and wrap it over your thumb into your palm and clutch both sides of it, that creates a rock solid grip unless you decide to open your hand at which point the leash simply falls out your grip and cant get tangled. good leash etiquette can prevent injury along with good training of course.

    With all young full sized breeds, Mastiffs, Danes St. Benard's or anything over 100 pounds. I use a full choke chain collar and a very short loop hand lead with my hand locked through the loop with zero slake. If they pull at all, I have the power to pull them up right off their front feet to cut off their air supply and let them know on the spot I am in complete control. After not more than 2 or 3 walks they learn to never jerk the owner. Sooner then you think, they totally stop all jerking or charging (but, you must always be prepared if they try it) and after a few weeks of this, the dog will walk right by your side with that short lead & choker collar. When they hit about 3 years old, they will not need the choker collar, but I always use the short no slack loop lead with my hand through the loop, & I never use a long lead.

    Coming here to watch more training videos love to watch them. Beautiful work with him
    I have a 8 mo lab mix she isn’t prone to heavy pulling she will have a little but it’s not intense trying to drag you somewhere only occurs when we are in the speed movement section of walking but I’m trying to work on a bit more focus on our slow walk as I’m training her for Service work. She has low to medium prey drive, isn’t prone to trying to go greet people or dogs etc. but for sure some things we need to work on. Recall being the next big one we have it about 70% of the time which I think is pretty good for a 8 mo but not “great”. she gets lots of compliments on how well behaved she is. (Disposition wise I agree) but I know she can do MUCH better. At this point I think it’s trainer error on my end. I try to make sure I’m not giving mixed signals but I have to be somewhere in her training. I switched from a harness when she was younger than three months to a flat collar which is her “house” collar then her working collar is a martengal I got because a lot of people recommended it and the matching leash is one I can have around my waist which is exactly what I wanted. For hands free and customized so she has a shorter line as the lead portion won’t adjust for me. I would like to get to the point I can take the adjusted part and loosen it off the loop I made and stitched together so she can walk at a nice heel but we aren’t there just yet. She will stay close just not the glue close like she needs to be to maneuver through isles. I’m not sure if I’m at the point I want to try a prong just yet before I continue with the martengal a little longer and try adjusting my own methods to communicate better to her. If after awhile longer it doesn’t yield any results I might try it. I’m not opposed to it or e-collars just not sure I’m ready yet to say “well this isn’t working let me amp it up” without having tried a few other ideas. Attention with flat collar didjt work so let’s try it withba martengal adjusted correctly and see if it doesn’t work better I guess. Thank you for the wonderful video!

    Aye that's like the Rottie that showed up on my porch who i fell in love with. Some butterfly inspired him to add to the body of aerodynamic research by launching off the porch while attached to me. Fyi, we gained data that suggests the space shuttle could have been tugged home instead of going piggy back. We took flight. One butterfly, one senior Rottweiler, and one middle aged fat lady. Altitude 4', bearing N NE, flight distance 10 feet.
    They say i have osteoporosis. I say all the calcium rattled out of my bones that day.
    Luckily no breaks, just muddied embarassment.
    He died from kidney failure before i could get him to walk easy on the leash. The prong collar did help, we just ran out of time. RIP Alvin.

    Wow, I don’t own a dog and started crying when she started crying. Those were “I can’t believe you’re telling me I won’t have to get rid of him” tears.

    Howdy! I love y’all’s videos and aspire to be as great as y’all one day! I’m currently a college student. I thought I wanted to be a vet and have even changed my major after realizing I don’t want to spend 8 years of my life going to school. I was wondering what steps would be best to become a reputable dog trainer like y’all while still continuing college. I have a dog myself and have applied many of y’all’s training tactics to our daily routines. Thanks!!

    Such a beautiful blue Great Dane!
    Would that work with a normal collar?

      No , too much pressure on the trachea

      Kinda but for a lighter dog as the GD has too much pulling power and like the other person said it would put too much pressure on the wind pipe but if you have a lighter less strong dog (jack russel, lab, etc) then it would work but it would take more time and energy as the prong collar stimulates a mother dog's bite to correct the dog where the flat collars just somewhat control the dog

    You always use the Prong Collar, but in Australia they are illegal. What can I use instead of the prong collar. My boy at the moment is good on the lead but he is only 16 weeks old. I am hoping that the work I have put in and continue to put in will keep him from ever pulling like this boy did, but who knows if I've done it all correctly.
