I just finished my first quilt (Halloween themed) and it only took 7 days from start to finish. I literally had zero quilting knowledge before this video and hadn’t used a sewing machine in 10+ years. This tutorial can teach anyone to make a beautiful quilt. I’m so impressed with this series and myself. If you’re interested in quilting I 100% recommend.

I am so grateful for the concise manner and patient demeaner that Melanie uses to teach, that I had to leave a message, that is when I learned that she is no longer with us on this earth. She surely has made a difference in the world - what an impact. RIP Melanie, and thank you for sharing your gifts! My deepest condolence to her family. Her legacy lives on in so many ways!

The quilt my mom made for me when I was a very little kid is still one of my most cherished possessions over 30 years later. I just finished sewing the binding on my first quilt, which will be a gift for her. I hope Melanie’s family finds some comfort knowing what a legacy she’s left with these videos.

I stumbled across these lovely videos while trying to prep myself to make a small quilt from my daughter's baby clothes. I grew up sewing with my aunt and have the best childhood memories of making crafts with her and my mom. My aunt planned on professionally quilting the clothes herself but ended up passing last October from heart problems and my mom passed in June from cancer. I'm so thankful for these videos so I'm able to carry out my wishes with Melanie's wonderful instructions and feel like I'm honoring my aunt as well. Thank you to her family for leaving them available. ❤️

I just binged all five videos. Very informative. I have always wanted to learn to quilt. Have been intimidated always. Now I wish I had learned years ago after watching your videos. I have a whole closet full of fabric and hope to use a lot to make several quilts. The one trick I loved was how you showed how to end the hand stitching of the binding. Have never seen that before. Brilliant! Thanks for all your videos.

I just watched all 5 tutorials. You do a very detailed presentation. Both of my parents passed away within 12 days of each other in December. Dad was 96 and Mother was 95. My dad had over 100 dress shirts that I will be using to make some throws and pillows. I will also sew the pockets and button flaps in random places on the throws and pillows. I made a Dalia quilt several years ago, but was looking for something very basic and simple for these throws and pillows. The patchwork quilt is perfect and quick for what I am wanting to make. Thank you for your very thorough tutorials...you have definitely gotten me in the sewing mood!

Hi Melanie, I loved all your videos. I'm a newbie to quilting. Saw a group last week and got inspired to quilt because I have bags of fabric leftover when making mask and didn't know what to do with. Their work was amazing! The instructor had me cut out nine 3 inch squares to make a pot holder and sew by hand. It was the most difficult thing for me to do. I knew there was a meaning to her madness. Lol. I did learn something. I've been sewing for years on a sewing machine. All of your videos are "EXCELLENT". You made my journey so much easier and answered all my questions. Now I'm excited again. Thank you!

I was referred to you for your amazing videos. Love your videos because you dont do alot of rambling on. Sime videos I swear people just like to hear themselves talk. Yours gives out the information with visual instructions. Just dont know how appreciated that is instead of rambling on about other things not needed. Some other video makers should watch your videos. They are awesome. I especially appreciate that when allotted a short time to watch. I was stressing about trying quilting but with your video so simplified for beginners like myself,I am so excited to do a larger one. The first one I made from your videos I embroidered it in the 1 corner Covid19 Quarantine 5/2020. Because I made face mask at no charge for everyone and gave to nursing homes and the Homeless. So this quilt I had to make it a remembered piece. I used left over scraps from the mask I made. Thanks also for the link for supplies I used your Amazon store. Thanks for making it so easy to get the things I didn't have. God Bless 🙂✌ Your a blessing for beginner sewers.

I love your video. As a child I watched my grandmother make quilts the old fashioned way. The “bastónes” hung from the ceiling and would be lowered. The quilt was wrapped around them and she would sit and see the layers together. This modern way is so much easier, but I have so many sweet memories. Sooooo I’m making a quilt. Thank you. You are an awesome teacher. I can say that because I’m a retired teacher.

This is the best series on UA-cam on this topic. I made two quilted table runners and a small quilt. I don't think I will make anything else because it was pretty time consuming (and the table runner I made with half square triangles, or HSTs, took a lot of planning), but I do like what I was able to create. Following this series helped me get better at sewing, and now I appreciate quilts even more. However, in the future, I think I will just buy other people's finished work, like I've done in the past. Honestly, it turns out to be cheaper.

Just watched out of interest, had to binge all 5! So I never sewed and today because of you I am waiting my new Brother CS10S machine to arrive, I am starting to quilt. Thank you for making it look so easy and explain every step. By the way I am a 60 year old guy! Exciting.

    Hey Melanie!
Thank you so much for your videos.
I just recently got into sewing because I originally wanted to make my own clothing for medieval festivals.
(Hand sewing was the main idea. But why start with something that difficult?)
So, I thought: let's start with something easy.
That's how I stumbled upon your channel.
I bought some fabric (oh, and a sewing machine) and just started working on it.
Your explanations were so thorough that even I was able to follow and create something I'm very proud of.
I'm almost done with my quilt. I sewed on the binding today.
It's gonna get really interesting tomorrow when I finish it, because while the top fabric is cotton.. I went for fleece for the bottom part.
And I'm afraid that's gonna be a pain.
Anyway. My family already loved the result so far and it seems I'll make a couple more for them in the future.
Thank you so much for your videos! They're highly inspiring!
    Please keep it up,
    Jessie

I just finished (everything but hand-stitching the binding) my second baby onesie quilt following sweet Melanie's videos. I was almost finished with my first one when her obituary came up on my UA-cam home page. I was heartbroken. I so appreciate her legacy and her beautiful way of teaching. I envision her quilting or crocheting in Heaven🤗💝

I think it was genius to break the video up in multiple parts. It makes it so much more doable and less daunting. You also have great stopping points incase someone has to walk away from the project for a day or two! Ty for splitting it up this way I've tried to learn this from instruction books but this way makes it seem so much easier.

I agree with the previous comment! Very clear and concise tutorials. I too have made my first, very successful quilt. Making a second as a present now.
    Thank you.

Your binding amazed me! I've never made a quilt and was interested in seeing it done and if I thought I'd attempt it. Not sure I will, but these 5 videos are SO interesting and so full of great, easy to follow instructions. The binding blew me away though. So clever! So slick! Thank you, Melanie. Great tutorial!

Melanie, I want to thank you so so much for making my first quilt a reality. I have been wanting to quilt for years and COVID 19 afforded me the time to undertake this project. I am over 70, consequently, I approached it with a little trepidation. You are an excellent teacher and so intuitive!! I just finished my second quilt and must say that I watched and rewatched your great videos over and over until I was able to successfully complete each step. I am so proud of myself!! As an aside. I listened to other videos and found your voice to be the most encouraging and affirming.
