Mary explains how Brigitte Bardot is and always has been an amazing beauty icon, especially during the 60’s and 70’s. Her dark eyes and pale lips have been a look that is copied again and again in beauty trends but Mary is creating a bridal twist for this Get The Gloss video.
Firstly Mary moisturizes model Hannah’s skin using the Chanel Hydro Beauty Micro Crème which moisturizes deeply but soaks right in creating the perfect base. Then she uses Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel Touch Foundation SPF 25 which she applies with the accompanying sponge. She dabs it on to even out Hannah’s complexion and tells us not worry about applying too much as you can then blend it in. Next Mary moves onto concealer using the Chanel Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer. Applying it about a cm below the eye she then pats it in to brighten the whole eye area.
Mary then moves on to eyeshadow using the new Chanel Ombre Premiere eyeshadow range from Chanel which are beautiful individual and long lasting eye colours. Mary dusts the colour Rose Synthetique all over Hannah’s eyelids using the new Chanel Retractable Dual tip Eyeshadow Brush. Mary explains that powders like this are now so soft that they almost look like creams but last much longer which is perfect for your wedding day. Next Mary uses the Chanel Ombre Premiere in Talpa which is a beautiful suits-everyone soft taupe - she uses a back and forth motion in the socket area to bring out the eye making sure it goes into the outer corner of the lids. Mary then uses a darker brown shade called Chocolate Brown which she applies and blends along the upper lid using a thinner brush like a soft smokey liner. Finally she uses what she calls ‘The Bardot Colour’ which is in Gris Anthracite, a dark smokey grey. Using a very fine brush she applies it right into the upper lash line and also under the eyes, right into the corners to give a lovely smokey feel. Mary then uses le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer in Prune Noir along the top of the lid again in the lash roots to give even more depth and ‘punch’ without it looking like a proper line.
Finishing off the eyes, Mary applies two coats of le Volume de Chanel Waterproof Mascara in Noir because it will withstand laughter, tears and a long wedding day!
Moving onto the brows Mary decides that she’s not going to darken the brows because it might look too severe, but she does use the new Chanel le Gel Sourcils Longwear Eyebrow Gel in Transparent to keep brows groomed and in place all day long.
Next she applies a very soft hint of a flush on the cheeks using Chanel’s healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick Blush in Coral which is a warm apricot shade. Mary ‘knocks’ the blush into Hannah’s cheeks by tapping it onto the skin rather than rubbing it. To prevent shine throughout your wedding day, Mary uses Chanel’s Pinceau Fond de Teint Foundation brush in No.6 and Chanel’s Poudre Universelle Natural Finished Pressed powder to take away shine that’s not becoming in real life or in photographs. Areas she attgends to are around the nose, on the chin, the upper lip, under the eyes and in the centre of the forehead. She explains not to place powder on cheeks because you want cheeks to glow - doing so can look quite old fashioned.
Finally Mary attends to the lips which she primes with Chanel’s Nourishing Lip care to reduce dryness. She then takes Chanel’s le Crayon Levres Precision Lip Definer in Natural to bring out the edge of the lips before applying Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour in Amoreux for a very natural but extremely pretty mouth.

Manuela Herrera Also notice that mua like Mary and Charlotte uses moisturizers before applying makeup. A lot of UA-cam makeup gurus just skip that and instead slap thick foundation into the face directly.
I personally always use moisturizers before I apply any makeup, for me it keeps my skin feeling happy and at the end of the day when I remove it, my skin isn't irritated at all. To add to your point, I noticed that a lot of people slap on matte lipsticks and such on bare lips which makes me cry a little inside because I know it'll dry down in every crag and just feel yucky. I apply a little bit of chapstick as a sort of protective barrier between the skin and the product and it works beautifully.

lazonda bronzer is amazing when chosen and applied correctly. Hard to find nice affordable ones, but brands like hourglass and nars make beautiful, radiant bronzers. Sans orange tone

What a beautiful, fresh makeup look! So many of the bridal looks on UA-cam are ultra Instagram-like (bold brows, sharp contour, big eyelashes). I think it's nice to look like yourself on your wedding day, with a couple of your favourite facial features emphasised. Also, what a lovely makeup artist and beautiful model! Instantly you see how professional she works with the Produkts. Especially with the fingers. I can't stop watching her tutorials because I am not in to the "cakey-instagram-eyebrow-and-eyeliner-youtube-princesses" they just look "good" on a studio ringlight (and what nobody says: tons of Botox! to keep that thick build up all in place to avoiding any kind of make-up-creasing) Everyone have to watch that kind of tutorials to learn enhancing makeup but not to overdone. She is such a great artist and legend.

I’ve watched this video a number of times and I love this modern Bardot-esque look! It’s also the first time I heard about Mary Greenwell. The first time I watched this, I couldn’t figure out why she looked so familiar...finally realized she looks like a younger version of Helen Mirren.

Wow what a beautiful look! I would love to see Mary do more looks on women of color; I feel like there are rarely models on this channel with darker skin, dark eyes, or dark hair and it can be hard to recreate these looks if you have some of these features.
Smuntt I agree. It would be great to see a bridal look on a darker skinned woman because we often can't use the pale rose or soft pink shades that are often recommended for bridal looks (they just look chalky on my skin).

I have to say this model is gorgeous. But it would be great to have asian models too. It's so different doing your makeup as an asian girl with thick dark hair and different skin type and tone etc.

Mary is the consummate makeup artist. I adore her bonkers delivery, she is so eccentric and all the more loveable as a result. Her looks are always flawless and let's be frank, wouldn't the majority of women prefer makeup like this that isn't overdone and allows the individual's innate beauty to shine through, rather than plastering them in layer upon layer of heavy product, rendering them looking akin to something that wouldn't look out of place in a Madame Tussauds reject waxworks cupboard?
