Mary was very privileged to be around during the supermodel era and she was absolutely key in creating the 'supermodel look'. She explains that she has many requests for supermodel catwalk makeup and whilst she’s going to recreate this iconic look, there will be a big difference here - she won’t use false lashes as she feels that is no longer modern.

To prep the skin, Mary firstly uses Chanel’s Hydra Beauty Micro Crème Fortifying Replenishing Hydration which is deeply hydrating but non-greasy. Mary explains that her favourite foundation of all time by Chanel is Sublimage Le Teint which she explains is a bit thicker and will provide a real 90s feel whilst remaining glowy. Applying it with her fingers, she pats it into the skin before using the Chanel Correcteur perfection Long Lasting Concealer under the eyes to get rid of any darker shadows.
Mary then suggests starting with the eyes which she continues to layer with different eyeshadows. Firstly on the upper lids Mary sweeps Chanel’s Ombre Premiere in Bronze Antique over the eyes and brow bone as a base using the Quick Shadow brush in Number 11. She then uses the Retractable Dual-Tip eyeshadow brush to apply Ombre Premiere in Visone which is a matte brown shade all over the lid and near the lash line to give the eyes real depth.
Finally she uses Chanel’s Chanel Ombre Premiere in Chocolate Brown in the lid sockets, using what she calls a windscreen wiper effect (back and forth motion). Mary's top tip is to sometimes pull back from your look to make sure the face looks balanced before moving on to the next part. Finally she uses Chanel’s Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer in Noir on the upper lid and blends so there is no harsh line. For even more punch Mary applies the Ombre Premiere eyeshadow in Noir Satin over the black liner before moving onto the lower lids where she then uses some chocolate brown shadow under the eyes before applying a thin coat of Dimensions de Chanel mascara in Noir.
Next Mary moves onto the brows using the Le Palette Sourcils de Chanel brow powder Duo for added definition. She also uses Chanel’s le Gel Sourcils Longwear Eyebrow Gel in Transparent to set them in place which she says is her new favourite product. Then Mary turns her attention to the cheeks where she uses the Pinceau Poudre No.1 and a circular motion to apply Chanel’s Joue Contraste powder blush in Angelique which she says has a more 90’s feel. Next Mary uses a bronzer - Chanel’s les Beiges Heathy Glow Luminous Colour - to add a bit of ‘contour’ which she says isn’t exactly contouring but more ‘soft definition’. She applies it also on the chin, the forehead and the temples.
Mary then applies Chanel’s Poudre Universelle compact with the Angled Powder brush No.2 to knock back any shine and create a beautiful mat effect before moving onto the lips.
First she applies Chanel’s Hydra Beauty Nutrition Nourishing Lip Care to take away any dryness before using the flat side of a the Crayon Levres Precision Lip definer in Seduction to define the edges of the lips. Finally, Mary applies Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in Libre for a beautiful rose mouth.

I for one am glad there's no false eyelashes. I'm rubbish at applying them and so fed up of others on UA-cam relying so heavily on them.
No wonder Mary is a legend and this is by far the most accurate presentation of 90s supermodel makeup why???? Cuz she was frigging around that time
So we're the rest if us. I can show you a thousand pictures of Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, etc Show you the runways, Kevin Aucoin books and this WAS NOT a 90s supermodel look. Even as a modern take, you need to have something that was actually 90s about it. This is a full on modern look. It's lovely. Just not very 90s not even 90s inspired. Sorry if the truth hurts!
You're right. I was about 10 then, but I remember the early 90s supermodel look.
TheKillerQueenfan this was a supermodel look in the 90's, like she said this is a show look not the everyday matte sculpted skin brown lip look but something more runway friendly and most of those pictures you could pull out the makeup was done by Mary so surely she knows what the looks were like in person considering she was the one doing them. she did a full coverage powdered base, rosey lip and bronzey face with a natural smokey eye and coral blush with no highlighter these are all things used on runways in the 90's specifically from shows like Calvin Klein, Versace, Gucci etc.
Mary Greenwell's tutorials are my absolute favourites!
after absolute years of watching this amazing woman, I''ve just noted she's ambidextrous!
jannahutchison yeah!
The model is so beautiful. I've never seen such a perfect person. Is she even real?
please..
Yes! She's stunning
I love that she didn't use false lashes, they hide the eye shadow specially when they are super long and thick! I think makeup you tubers gone too far with heavy boring applications. Thank god for makeup artists that knows exactly what they are doing. I mean heavy makeup and still looking herself, this is how it should be and look
Really glad you love it - we do too xx
Broadcast Neo what bugs me the most with these youtubers who use false lashes is that when they do themed looks, like this 90s supermodel (or Grunge is a biiiig one I see them ruining) they absolutely do not fit the theme at all and everything looks the same
That's the difference between a beauty influencer and a makeup artist.
Agreed 😃
I know, like I hate how they look so fake and just makes everything about the makeup seem too much.
I really love that Mary keeps the makeup natural even if it's heavy. She does not use the typical heavy contour and highlight technique like other youtubers and also does not use falsies.
Finally someone said it, fake lashes are horrible and too over the top. Even the no makeup makeup tutorials have fake lashes! Never wore them and probably never will.
A good mascara is all I need! 👍👍
I think fake lashes look great with a liner look, or a very dark smokey eye - but they are over used to an unnecessary degree. I never wear them. Too uncomfortable.
WakeupGrandOwl i just don't like them even when theyre subtle. Just not my thing but some people pull it off.
Thin fake lashes or individual lashes are good sometimes. I don’t wear them since they’re not very on the go but I’ve seen people place them carefully just to naturally make the lashes look a bit fuller but not dramatic at all.
falsies are for over the top borderline artistic eye looks, or for people with less lashes. Most don’t need them for everyday looks
She's a Spanish model and actress, her name is Jana Pérez
She looks Arabic not Spanish rather.
Bianca Hotca agree, reminds me of the former princess Amerah Al Taweed of the Emirates. Both stunning!
Bianca Hotca yes some Spanish people look like Indian and Middle Eastern. Infact Jana Perez has also some 90’s kinda look she even played a very important role in Fariña it’s available on netflix, based upon Spanish 90’s story and she looks just perfect for that role.
Yasmeen Ghauri vibes. I love it.
Wow, yes. So gorgeous.
Yes!
Yes! Yasmeen was awesome :) - anyone know what happened to her?
LOL sorry for replying a month late. I just saw this video. Well, apparently Yasmeen's happily married to a lawyer and raising 2 kids. It seemed that she's content of being out of the spotlight. I miss her immensely though, she was ravishing while at her prime!
electrictwilight you can check out Lisa Eldridge's channel here on youtube, she did two tutorials with Yasmeen as the model, both really nice to watch as they have a bit of a chitchat too :)
what a beautiful model. however id like to request a makeup tutorial for those of us who look like potatoes
I'm still wearing the smokey eye like this. This suits me the most. We, kind of, sort of learned it from our mothers in '95. The funny thing is that it is the easiest and the quickest to create for some reason, while ppl think that one spends an extreme amount of time "putting it on". What I struggle with is actually the simple eye, with a red lip. Mary, you did it again. Flawless!! X
False lashes in my opinion are unnecessary in most looks so I appreciate this tutorial, Mary! It shows that you can still maintain drama and glamour without falsies- in fact it looks more sophisticated!
I could watch Mary Greenwell all day. Such an artist!
Halfway through I am convinced the look is awful but then as if by magic it turns beautiful & I love it.
If I could just see Mary doing makeup on an Asian model. Just once I would die with joy. She seems to be so good with using colors, and I would just love to see how she works with Asian skin tones and eye colors.
There’s a video where sh does peony lim’s makeup
MORE MARY GREENWELL!!!
Really beautiful work on the eyes. It looked so subtle & complex at the same time.
Make way for Mary Queen of Make up! this woman is artistry PERSONIFIED.
Her make up and face reminds me of Yasmeen Ghauri.
Mary & Gloss come thru yet again
Mary's fab. My only beef is that her models are exquisite to begin with and often the makeup feels like gilding the lily. Any hope for more odd/less symmetrical women as makeup models? (Maybe Chanel decides.)
no one is symetrical lol, are u hoping for someone with an eye higher and an eye lower?? lol
Lysets vokter Why tf not? My eyes are like that too :)
Delian Jay will lol..it's not like your right eye is three cm higher than the other😂😂 u think I have symmetrical eyes, no lol I am pretty sure that the model's eyes are slightly unsymmentrical, u just can't see it
Boolena Bugina II
I love her application philosophy and the way she calls this beautiful model 'baby' :)
Mary Greenwell is my addiction. The more I get of her, the more I want!
It's impossible not to fall in love with Mary, she's so unique and her technique is incredible, her and Lisa are simply the best. Wish I could be their model
so so amazing..... the model used here is so 'chanel' as well!
I would love to see an exact recreation of what they did in the 90's. Using the same products (if they're still around), same techniques, would be fascinating
The model reminds me of Janice Dickinson pre surgery.
Love that this is by the person who made the 90s super model!
I love that we get to see how she works on a bit tanner skin, Jana Perez is just beautiful
This model reminds me of the 90s supermodel, the stunning Yasmin Ghauri.
The eye makeup part is absolutely an inspiration. I think I can pull it off as well. And I love how Mary applied the base with her fingers.
Beautiful model. & Mary is just the best! I miss the 90s.
This might be my favorite look I've seen Mary do on this series!
Absolutely perfection, Mary. I really love your version of "heavy makeup", and the model is flawless
I just love watching Mary do makeup. She's so amazing!! And this look is fantastic.
Such a fabulous artist! I love your videos Mary. Can't get enough of them. So helpful.
I love how mary just slaps on make up and it always looks stunning!
beautiful art as always, mrs. greenwell.
I could watch videos with Mary all day. The best. Thank you.
I love Mary so much, she's always so kind to the models and full of compliments and warmth...!
Been looking for this since the beginning of the day for a home shoot. Really, what took me so long to find this? Ugh. Thanks so much, it's a big help. 🥺🤎
Gorgeous! I love Mary because she is very natural and grounded. Her tutorials also easy to follow.
You've done it again Mary! Stunning ♡
I am in love with the model's sharp
facial features naturally...
Mary, I love watching you work!
I LOVE you, Mary!!!!!! Always look forward to a new tutorial from you......
Mary ! I love you ! and I really loved when you had your pink hair !
Love it!! Mary is a master at instructing!!!!
Mary Greenwell is the reason I do the type of makeup that I do! I absolutely love her and I love how if she makes mistakes she just says so. I don't know how many times I've forgotten to put lip balm on my clients at the beginning during the skin prep portion --- more times than I care to admit! 💕💕💕
I love Mary's videos! She is such an artist
This is so genius! Living for this look
I know this is an older video but I Love mary ! I’m so glad she didn’t do the big triangle concealer ,, every youtuber does that ,, Mary’s a true artist !
I love music in tutorials. Makes it interesting and fun!
Wow, I love this makeup look so much; I'm going to have to try and re-create it! 😍😍
I am impressed by the masterclass videos of HD quality without fancy filters. We could even see the texture of each product after its application. Filters are nice when we post selfies on instagram. But when it comes to makeup tutorials, they do not help us understand the REAL effect of each product. Again thanks for sharing masterclass makeup tutorials that looks so authentic!
So enjoy watching Mary's masterful ways. Genius!
Mart Geenwell
I love Mary's hair in this video, very beautiful!
Love this!!! Love Mary!
I love Mary and every look that she does.
Truly beautiful makeup xx
Mary, the master make up artist! Love her work!
beautiful Jana!!
Yay a makeup look that I can actually recreate! X
such a natural beauty! jealous😍
My first time watching your videos. I love how approachable your techniques are and how the enhance features instead of a look. Thank you for declaring false lashes as not modern. I have never liked them. I will have to watch more!
Mary greenwell is the reason I get so excited to get off work. I just watch her videos until i pass out haha
I love this look sooooo much
My friend and I have adopted her techniqes and advice. We don't use chanel but the way she applies is so useful and has a nice natural effect. The rubbing the lips together is my favorite advice.
Brilliant! Perfect! Love it! And I will try to recreate this look 🙃
man she is so beautiful
Gorgeous look, Mary.
God that model is gorgeous and this look is so flattering ♡
beautiful!
Love Mary's Tutorials 💄💕💋👯👯
EXCELENTE , COMO SIEMPRE!!!
I love Mary, my kind of make up artist
Eventhough Ella G. has a good point, this is a lovely look💖! Everything 90s is beautiful- the earthy colors in makeup and clothing. Thank you for creating this look. The model's natural skin and lip are beautiful. Would like to see this make-up done for an everyday work look.
So beautiful!
Greenwell the "Great"
Gorgeous :) Cheers for sharing, Mary. A blessed 2020 to all.
It is soo amazing look, as always. Thank You very much for filming with Mrs. Greenwell. I like the foundation - what is the shade of foundation, please, which Mrs.Greenwell used on Jana?
Flawless!!! 😍😍
Mary's technique is amazing, but it helps that this gal is GORGEOUS!! I have the same eye shape as her, I will try to do mine the same. So awesome that she used no false lashes too!! Hopefully I can copy the look!
I noticed just the same with my eye shape, and I find it difficult at times to do my eye makeup. How would you describe it? you reckon its hooded eyes? I'd die to achieve a deep socket definition
A beautiful model with a beautiful make-up on👍🏻
I love how much Mary is so not about the shedload of brushes life.
Mary+90s makeup tutorial: am I dreaming? 👍🏻💝🎉
