Hello, My husband thinks you should find an Artist to paint the electric box faux brick looking. An Artist can make that look just like the Hartley brick and then it would just blend in! Love your show and watch every day with our tea and coffee. 😘

Aaron is correct…. I’m in my 24th year as a residential real estate appraiser. Adding solar doesn’t add to the value of your home. Your property is what we refer to as a pink elephant. It will take a special kind of buyer to purchase your home for the true value. It will take a lot of time and national marketing time. I had a pink elephant here in Maine with an insane lake and Mountain View and when I saw the for sale sign go up I wished I would get the job to appraise it. Well….I got the job and it was horribly hard to make sure I did all the proper research. I would absolutely love to get to walk through your property but I think I learned my lesson….I wouldn’t want the responsibility of being the appraiser. 😂 I had my son at 29 which initially I felt I was late having him but I’m so glad I did. Hi Laura and Aaron, 🌻When you once shared about getting hurtful comments, I thought to myself, “No way, who would find fault in you two?” Then I started to read the comments about Cheddar and my oh my! Y’all…if you keep complaining and saying don’t talk about this or that…you can probably kiss the recap video goodbye and having interactions with Aaron and Laura. A and L y’all are doing great! 🥰
The community has every right to ask questions, share feedback, etc. The great people all over the world in this community massively add to the vibrancy, information and experience of this channel. Shaming people and silencing voices is used for control which seems to me is opposite of what this channel is about.
I have had many male cats over all the years we have lived here and have never once had trouble with any of them spraying. They were however all neutered which they say does eliminate spraying and were mostly inside cats. We LOVE all of the cats😻😻
Laura your hair looks fantastic this video . And I have all male cats and I know the smell from the spray can be strong. But being a animal lover I just clean a lot outside. Never had a problem in the house.
💜🎶 Good Morning Garden Answer .. Spring has sprung.. as we Spring ahead in TIME .. Thanks for the Recap .. Beautiful sunshine down your way .. Have a Beautiful day 💜🎶🇨🇦
Aaron, three years ago I bought myself a dethatcher (I have a huge thatch problem because of clay soil) After dethatching I rake & blow my yard but I can’t get it all up so I’ve started burning my lawn with a weed burner. It’s made an incredible difference in how green my grass is. Last year I started leveling my lawn with sand & compost so I’m starting to look like a golf lawn. ❤ I have always been into flowers & gardening but recently thrilled to make my lawn look incredible.
I'm not worried about an apocalypse, but I always wonder what marketable skillset do people have if it happened? Can you cook? Can you grow food? Do you sew? Can you build things? It makes you re-evaluate what we consider important today.
Thank you Aaron! Being prepared for all possible outcomes is part of life. I'm glad to see you be a voice to this! There's so much uncertainty this year and I'm not a prepper either but it's something that is something I think about.
I absolutely love your Sunday recaps. Fun to hear other's comments and questions. Really chuckled at Aaron's comment, "the other side of Oregon," as I have lived my entire, almost 73 years, "on the other side," and have never dreamed of living elsewhere. Perfect location, about an hour from the beach/ocean, and same for the mountains/snow. I do, however, find "your side" beautiful. Oregon is the best!!!
I know this is hard to believe, with the prices and crap, but that’s how I feel about California. I was born here and every single family member has lived here so it’s been my home. I even feel a connection with the actual land, like in Hawaii, how they talk about the Aloha Spirit, I feel there’s a kind of Aloha Spirit in California.
@@donnabraden3126 I grew up in the San Fernando Valley. I’ve been living in other states for decades but California still holds a special place in my heart ♥️
i love these recaps! i love how you and Aaron communicate, so respectful so caring and just amazing!!! my hubs is laughing at me cause during this video you showed or said some item or plant you use or have and if i either have it too or know what your saying about a plant or something, i get so excited and happy!! so my hubs just cracks up!!! thanks guys! have a great week 😊
Good morning Laura and Aaron! Oh, Aaron, the cat lovers are already on you 😂!! I love cats and dogs both, but misbehaving traits can be frustrating. I loved the open discussion between you and Laura, they are the best. Great highlights this morning. Hugs from N.C..❤
I don’t get it. As soon as my son turned 18 he thought it was now ok to have a cat inside. It’s my house and I pay the bills. I decide who lives there or not. Why are people forcing animals onto others?
Yup! Saw that one coming a mile away. But he was asked and answered honestly. I guess he should be fake on social media? I prefer the honest version. Anyone who disagrees with his viewpoint can move on down the road!
Cheddar happens to be loved by all of us and you need to see that he also has good things about him . He brings joy to many and doesn’t deserve to lose his home to possibly be euthanized as many lose their homes. Aaron you need to be more forgiving. All three cats are impart of the family we love to watch. Some love to watch the kids and others like me enjoy the 3 cats.
They can get deterrents for trouble aéreas but spraying it is not a 365 day thing . I know and learned they do it when they are trying to tell you something , danger, their health , fear, etc. Cheddar loves his bothers and the kids and so much Laura. It would be so cruel to rip him of his family. Imagine his little heart beating fast on a carrier being taken away not knowing what is happening and what he did so wrong to rip him out of his family. That would be a stub in the heart of us viewers and the end of me watching them.
Love ❤️ love this time of the week with both of you intetacting...I really like how you used the Hartley as a nice comfortable n beautiful place to hang out.. One day will visit parents garden shop..love you guys very much for all the enjoyable honest n beautiful videos
Hi guys, I love your posts and was amazed at your discussion on prepping. Seems like more and more people are interested in this. I wanted to recommend the book One Second After to Aaron. This truly puts into perspective just how unprepared most of us are. Thank you!
I so enjoy these videos and your discussions. Thanks for showing up each week, your videos have helped me so much and i appreciate your practicality. Have a blessed day. (PS prepping is fascinating to me as well.. .. but I'm woefully unprepared. 😂)
I ordered the Felco gloves from your shop and I love them! They are the best gardening gloves I have ever used! Also, I received them in the mail very quickly.
Didn't realize you were SUCH JERKS. UNSUBSCRIBING NOW. Don't get anymore animals you are not suites for animal ownership especially horses. Will miss your mom.
@@ebbypetesI agree! My next door neighbor feeds feral cats and has some totes for them to sleep in. However, sh doesn’t necessarily water them or take them to the vet, etc. There are a lot of them and they come to my house every day and spray on everything they pass, it seems, including my outside doors. It’s so gross! They have sprayed on my welcome mat and when it rains we have inadvertently tracked their urine throughout the house. At first I couldn’t figure out where the smell was coming from. It was disgusting! Thankfully, our tiny town just passed a cat ordinance, they will be trapping and sending them down the road!
Solar is a great idea, but considering how much wind your area gets, have you thought about a windmill. I saw one shaped like a tree with spinning leaves.
@@YSLRD They can, for sure, but I've heard that if the blades are black instead of white, fewer birds hit them, presumably because they can see them better against the sky.
Great morning guys. FYI: I think the Hartley is the perfect size also.💯💯💯 Great recap video so informative. Thanks again for sharing this with us.💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
When mentioned what if you had your kids sooner....I think you would still be doing what you're doing but your kids would be older, in school and helping out around the property. I think you would be right where you are today. And you are work from home parents. That is the best!
Sometimes the reddish hue on leaves is a signal that the seedlings are getting too much light. It’s the anthocyanin that comes up (like a sunburn for us) indicating it’s too much. Cold does the same thing, as Laura said). Orchids do the same thing. Hope this helps someone. ❤
Good morning and happy "almost" spring! Love you guys, thanks for sharing! We installed a bank of solar panels in 2021. We didn't want them on the ground because we only have 2 acres, so put them on the roof of an outbuilding 50x80. Solved the space issue, blends in to roof and bonus: keeps some sun off roof, lowering the summer Temps a bit. Win-win! Take care!
I’ve watched this channel since the VERY beginning and watch them everyday, but why do the comments about cheddar, with the boots and “send him down the road,” make me… 😬😬😬😬.
Burning the lawn does work! We did this several years ago when we were having problems with the lawn and the results were stunning!!!! It recovered and regrew very quickly. I honestly only remember the yard looking charred for just 3 to 5 days. Was just remarkable!!!
He's spraying because of Douglas. Most male cats spray to mark their territory, or they have bladder stones. Once the medical is taken care of, they usually stop. But with lots of strays coming around, you're going to have that problem. My indoor outdoor male cats don't spray in the house, but when they go outside, you can watch them freshen up their perimeter. Lol
Gah. Definitely needs to be at least one large, large tropical to take full advantage of that beautiful greenhouse, preferably 3 and some hanging as well 🥰would seem less cluttered than small plants massed here and there, a table cocooned by plants would feel awesome. 😀 That said, it's a gorgeous space, regardless.
Laura, your hair is looking amazing! I don’t know if you’re doing anything different but it looks so thick and lush. Gives me a bit of hair envy every morning. lol
I have a neighbor who has a small farm and put up solar panels in one of her pastures. She says that her animals, sheep, llama, etc. lay under the solar panels using it as shade and relief from the heat.
We've been using ground leaf compost for mulch here in southern Ohio for the past two years and it is definitely better than the wood mulch we used to use. It has really added nice loose soil on the top layer in all our beds, and what few weeds do emerge are so easy to pull out. Just had 14 yards delivered this past week. Will start spreading this week. Definitely recommend it.
Ooh the Hartley looks fab! I agree that considering your own sustainable energy sources is smart. I grew up thinking about survival and end-of-world scenarios so, like Aaron it’s only natural for me 😂 And seemingly Cheddar is trying to defend the property too since it has been expanded! He’s working double-time to keep the feral cats away, sure it’s unpleasant to our noses but it’s hardly misbehaving.
I use chamomile tea water in my seed starter mix to reduce fungus risk (and cinnamon). But you MUST let it cool down before you sow your seeds. I made that mistake once, just not thinking in the moment and no germination happened.
@@jimmynava5644 she just got herself on my dream blunt rotation 😆😆😆 her, Eric from epic gardening, Jess from roots and refuge, and Morgan and Allison from Gold shaw farm. 🤭 Wouldn't that be some amazing conversation?!

I have watched your videos since the beginning ,and I know you have a huge heart.thanks for listening.
Yes, he was talking out of frustration as we have probably all felt at some point with our pets but family cares for all three cats and will continue to provide the love and safety.
Man I love the recaps! I love hearing Aaron’s opinions, ideas, and shenanigans. The way you two banter back and forth is so fun! You are just a get team!
It's interesting about the things in our life like cats dogs children elderly people handicapped things that are kind of out of our normal MO... Which can cause frustration into me it is like a gift I see a part of myself that has become rigid and self-centered and so it's always a wonderful opportunity to stop a moment and say how can I more enjoy the things in my life instead of me having to control everything in exactly perfect way for me to have an exactly perfect life🎉
This is a very kind way to think of it. So often the last 10 years or so, I read comments on the internet about people getting rid of their friends who are going through a hard time because they are “a drain” or a “downer” or aren’t always positive, when those friends have depression or other serious illnesses or problems. Comments usually agree with cutting the person out, but I don’t think much of anyone who would do that to someone who is ill. And, I think pet ownership is a responsibility for the life of a pet. Abandoned pets do not live long and their lives are usually painful. I recently lost my fur baby Darcy who meant the world to me and I miss her terribly.Anyone who isn’t willing to commit to a lifetime of care just shouldn’t get a pet. That said, I know Aaron didn’t choose to own Cheddar, Cheddar was a stray who found a lifeline in their home. I just hope very much that he doesn’t lose it. The problem is that so many people are irresponsible not getting pets sprayed or neutered and now we have millions of stray animals. These animals are only trying survive and then people who really don’t want them are trying to be a good person and care for them, but don’t feel a commitment they never signed up for. It’s just a difficult situation all around but most especially for the animal.
If the new feral cats are why cheddar is spraying more then send the new feral cats down the road. Cheddar was there first, he deserves to stay. And he's used to your family and his buddy.
Rye grass stays green in the winter but you will need to keep cutting in the winter. I just spread rye seeds two weeks ago and gas all germinated. We burn grass in the south. Fires kills bad insects in there as well and for sure helps your grass stay healthier. So if you want to spread rye grass you still can. It will die once temperatures start heating up and will come back in the winter. When it comes to prepping, I like to be prepared for at least a year in case, if anything happens. We do have a generator because of hurricanes and secondary heating system. Other than that we don't over prep, You are right Aaron; you have to be able to defend what you have as well. Our state just passed constitutional carry so there would be no problem 😂
We have a natural gas Generac Generator so worth it. Solar you would have to replace batteries every few years. They take up space and kill birds! Where we are it is common to loose power. One thanksgiving no power but we had power and a great meal!
I’ve been thinking about this. Do you mind me asking how much of an investment I could expect to make in one for a 2400 square foot house? Or approximately?
@@cynthiafisher9907Cynthia, we looked into it. You would look for a whole house Generac. They currently range between 5 and 7 thousand at Lowe’s. A 250 gal propane tank was our situation and it did not have enough surface propane so the Propane Co. said we would need a 500 gal. Propane tank to be optimal. You can lease the Propane tanks so that is recurring costs along with refills. Then installation of all that is dependent on your area. Electricians are putting them in frequently so they can drop you a quick quote. All components combined run around 10K. Hope that helps.
@@Gin0827 Oh, thank you so much! We have natural gas, so maybe it would be a bit less for us. It sounds doable and a good idea in case of a power outage.
Good morning Aaron and Laura. Love my Sunday mornings with you two! Aaron look at tall fescue to keep the grass green in the winter. I have a blend of tall fescue and KY blue. My fescue stays green all winter in zone 6b. Blessings
I love the deep, rich green of tall fescue!!! It’s my favorite grass but I cannot grow it in my yard. In my area it takes tons of water and shade to grow it and even then it gets diseased and thins due to heat and humidity. It’s gorgeous though!!!
I actually like it better when you don’t have something in the middle of the Hartley. It just disrupts the flow and makes it seem smaller. So beautiful in there with gorgeous plants.
I love the scent of the Russian Olives in bloom! I’m over in Nampa and they grow along the creek near our house. In the springtime the sweet smell fills the air for weeks.

I absolutely love the Hartley just the way it is inside and out looks relaxing when you go in not to much stuff to much stuff drive me Nuts!
Watching Laura and Aaron for many years, you inspired me to start gardening in my high rise apartment and be on UA-cam. Thank you both 🙏
Y’all…if you keep complaining and saying don’t talk about this or that…you can probably kiss the recap video goodbye and having interactions with Aaron and Laura. A and L y’all are doing great! 🥰
Agreed. That would be so sad. I honestly appreciate hearing their viewpoints on everything they share.
Well said! But one thing I have noticed, is these two are tough cookies!
The community has every right to ask questions, share feedback, etc. The great people all over the world in this community massively add to the vibrancy, information and experience of this channel. Shaming people and silencing voices is used for control which seems to me is opposite of what this channel is about.
I doubt it. It's part of their income and likely how they pay their help. I rarely watch the recap anyway.
@@LiveAlchemeYes, but if you look at the first comments about the cats, they were accusatory and a little bit too much.
I have had many male cats over all the years we have lived here and have never once had trouble with any of them spraying. They were however all neutered which they say does eliminate spraying and were mostly inside cats. We LOVE all of the cats😻😻
Neuter!
It's being so cheerful that keeps Aaron going...🤣
Laura your hair looks fantastic this video . And I have all male cats and I know the smell from the spray can be strong. But being a animal lover I just clean a lot outside. Never had a problem in the house.
Love your recap videos. My Sunday morning highlight.
Love watching Paul. Please show him doing more projects.
Loved the filming in the Hartley.....oh how I'm ready for the beautiful weather. Let's go!
I love the recap in the Hartley- reminds me of the old sun porch days….
Loved the "prepper" conversation. It's good to think thru some of these things, even if you dont need them. By nature I love to ve a prepared person.
Really enjoyed hearing Aaron talk about grid-down scenarios. My husband and I talk about this too.
💜🎶 Good Morning Garden Answer .. Spring has sprung.. as we Spring ahead in TIME .. Thanks for the Recap .. Beautiful sunshine down your way .. Have a Beautiful day 💜🎶🇨🇦
Aaron, three years ago I bought myself a dethatcher (I have a huge thatch problem because of clay soil)
After dethatching I rake & blow my yard but I can’t get it all up so I’ve started burning my lawn with a weed burner. It’s made an incredible difference in how green my grass is.
Last year I started leveling my lawn with sand & compost so I’m starting to look like a golf lawn. ❤
I have always been into flowers & gardening but recently thrilled to make my lawn look incredible.
Thanks for your comment.
I'm not worried about an apocalypse, but I always wonder what marketable skillset do people have if it happened? Can you cook? Can you grow food? Do you sew? Can you build things? It makes you re-evaluate what we consider important today.
My only complaint is the recap videos are too short😂 I really enjoy the back and forth with you and Aaron!!😊
Love the recap! And we LOVE all the cats! Literally wait to see them in every video! Lol!
I do, however, find
"your side" beautiful.
@@pollytiks3885 I know, right? I never mean to be ungrateful for other states where I’ve lived, but I am just unhappy unless I’m in California.
Laura, you look so beautiful today! Like you just stepped out of the hair salon ❤
i love these recaps! i love how you and Aaron communicate, so respectful so caring and just amazing!!! my hubs is laughing at me cause during this video you showed or said some item or plant you use or have and if i either have it too or know what your saying about a plant or something, i get so excited and happy!! so my hubs just cracks up!!!
thanks guys! have a great week 😊
@@taniawaldner198Good one!
Same here...I love watching the cats
I love the cats! If they don’t want him, I’m sure there is a viewer close by that would take him.
Who here cares more about the cats than Aaron? 🙋♀️
If they say that I would not believe that is what happened to him.
I wonder how Paul feels being pimped out with the house. 🤣
Aaron always thinks future. It's a good way to think. He and Laura are such a good match and create the purfect balance between them. Pun intended. 😺😂
Love ❤️ love this time of the week with both of you intetacting...I really like how you used the Hartley as a nice comfortable n beautiful place to hang out..
One day will visit parents garden shop..love you guys very much for all the enjoyable honest n beautiful videos
Aaron is spot on with his thinking when it comes to taking care of yourself when/if the grid goes down. I’m glad you have him, Laura.
I love to hear Aaron go on with his thoughts and visions and trying to fit in the logic that fits your lifestyle 😂.
Same here. 👏🏻👏🏻
My three cats are part of my family, I would never ever consider “sending them down the road” for any reason!
You are correct, there is plenty room there for those kittys, so don’t get to big for your pants mister Aron😮
Didn't realize you were SUCH JERKS. UNSUBSCRIBING NOW. Don't get anymore animals you are not suites for animal ownership especially horses. Will miss your mom.
I wouldn't do it, but dealing with him also wouldn't make me miserable. They would never abandon him. He would go somewhere he's wanted.
That's you and your choices. Their choices are different. It's ok you guys will live if people don't think like you.
Good morning! Love these highlights videos. Thank you for all you teach us!
Solar is a great idea, but considering how much wind your area gets, have you thought about a windmill. I saw one shaped like a tree with spinning leaves.
Does it kill birds?
@@YSLRD They can, for sure, but I've heard that if the blades are black instead of white, fewer birds hit them, presumably because they can see them better against the sky.
Great morning guys. FYI: I think the Hartley is the perfect size also.💯💯💯
Great recap video so informative.
I am on vacation when I garden❤😊I know Laura loves her garden
Sometimes the reddish hue on leaves is a signal that the seedlings are getting too much light. It’s the anthocyanin that comes up (like a sunburn for us) indicating it’s too much. Cold does the same thing, as Laura said). Orchids do the same thing. Hope this helps someone. ❤
Thank you!
@@Gin0827 🫶🏼 you are welcome!
Hi guys, quick info for Aaron... the life span of a solar panel is about 15 years so just as you're breaking even you have to replace them 😢
Me, too, Aaron! I think about how I could survive the what IFs!! Not weird at all. Prepping is expensive, not to mention eating up all the food.😅
We enjoy the recap videos. Thank you Garden Answer!
Ahh, my Sunday morning is complete! Thanks for another great video Laura and Aaron!
Love listening to you two. So glad Aaron got comfortable being mic’ed and on camera!
Love the cats!
Good morning Laura and Aaron and all !!
Hey guys be careful with the solar companies some of them have really bad reviews. Laura, great hair day.
Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Her hair looks great!!😂
Insurance companies also hate it. Make sure you can keep your homeowners insurance with it.
I use chamomile tea water in my seed starter mix to reduce fungus risk (and cinnamon). But you MUST let it cool down before you sow your seeds. I made that mistake once, just not thinking in the moment and no germination happened.
My mom visiting me: "Have you been.." -Me:"..digging alliums, yes."
😅😂
😂😂😂
The scream i scrumpt when she said that😂😂😂 i didn't expect that from Laura!
@amandabottoms1 same!! I was like Laura knows what that smells like!?
@@jimmynava5644 she just got herself on my dream blunt rotation 😆😆😆 her, Eric from epic gardening, Jess from roots and refuge, and Morgan and Allison from Gold shaw farm. 🤭 Wouldn't that be some amazing conversation?!
Lauras facial expression about Cheddar. 😅
Aaron,, have patience, you guys are so good, and God blessed you all so much.please don't get rid of Cheddar. Let her and the other 2 , be able to live the wonderful life that you offered them
There must be a reason why she's doing it. Maybe you can take her to a vet. Laura, please .... I have watched your videos since the beginning ,and I know you have a huge heart.thanks for listening.
Yes, he was talking out of frustration as we have probably all felt at some point with our pets but family cares for all three cats and will continue to provide the love and safety.
Good talk, lots of information!
Great recap, I love watching these.
Aaaahh…my favorite Sunday start to my week. 😍😍👍😍😍
We now know where Benjamin gets his army guy puzzle piece war scenarios. Defending the water and power sources! 😂😂 Y'all are the best!
Morning!!! Happy Sunday
This needs to be a podcast!
Hair looks great btw.
Everything in the Hartley is beautiful but I can't take my eyes off those Geraniums. I'm so jelly :-)
I brought my geraniums in this fall and am super scared to cut them up and try to root them.
Good morning! ready for recap with my tea
Good morning Laura and Aaron. 🌸
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
