    Warning, very long post ahead!
I started watching your channel in 2020. My husband had just passed away (April) and I was watching UA-cam and Facebook videos to just get mindless.
Your videos were ‘recommended’ and I just decided to watch one. In that video you mentioned that you lived in Ontario Oregon. That peaked my curiosity because I grew up in Ontario California.
I was hooked immediately by your natural demeanor and kindness to your audience. So, after watching the one video, I went back as far as I could, and begin watching every video you had put out.
It just gave me a lot of peace. No drama just great content. I love watching home improvement videos anyway so watching garden improvement videos were right up my alley.
In August of that same year I went back to California to visit my family, I now live in Tennessee, and have lived away from California since I was married in 1976. I found out that my family was interested in moving to Idaho. So they took a quick trip to Idaho and came back and said we love it and we are going to move there.
My sister all her adult children and one of her adult grandsons along with all their families, moved to Idaho within a couple of months. My parents moved there also and lived with my sister and her husband. Sadly they passed away at the end of 2020. Both within 13 days of each other.
I immediately told my family about your channel and told them they needed to watch you to know how to take care of their gardens. They all love to grow flowers, plants and vegetables.
My niece and her husband ended up in Payette right near the border of Oregon, and Idaho.
She started watching your videos and visiting your parent’s garden center and just loves it.
On one of my visits there I also visited your parents garden center. It was great looking at everything I had seen on UA-cam for two years and now seeing everything in person was amazing.
I met a very sweet employee, and we had a great conversation and I told them how I had accidentally ran across your videos on UA-cam and then Lo and behold my family all moved from California to Idaho and are benefiting from your videos.
It’s been four years this month that I lost my amazing husband and so much has changed but I wanted to say thank you for being a part of my grief healing. Sounds crazy I know but it was such a blessing to watch your family grow and your garden grow too.
God used a garden channel to help me through long lonely days.
Now my life is normal and completely peaceful and busy….. But I’m completely hooked on Garden Answer!!
Thanks again for just doing what you love and sharing it with us! You made a difference where you never thought you would!

So sorry for your loss Jana. I totally get it.... I lost my husband when I was 32 (almost 30 years ago now) and since we didn't have You Tube back then my thing was all the shelter magazines, So. Living, BHG, Traditional Home. I would grab a huge pile of old ones at my mom's house and sit on my bed til 2 or 3am just looking at them. Eventually I was able to sleep again. Then I remarried (but not until over a decade later) and my life has been amazing. Lo and behold, I married a Marine at the beginning of the war, so once again I had some hours to fill, even with kids in the house. I would recommend watching "The Office" if you haven't seen it yet. Super fun and funny. It got me through some tough deployments. But hang in there. You never know what God has in store for you, and you will honor your husband by living the best life you can, no matter where it takes you! Hugs from Atlanta!

I have an old bread knife I use for dividing that cuts through crowns like nothing! Take a clump of daylilies and turn them in to dozens!! Any perennial poking their head up, gets lifted, divided by at least a third, a little shot of organic fertilizer in the hole, and then planted back, and then I have more plants to put elsewhere, or share with the neighbor!

I LOVE starting my day with your garden! May I suggest a tip with editing (and before everyone jumps on me, this is NOT in any way a criticism). When you are making cuts and things, I know speeding up the video can sometimes be necessary, but I notice the sped-up scenes recently are "extra" fast. More than your previous videos. Kind of hard to see what your doing. Honestly, what you may find mundane to watch, a ton of us enjoy! 😊 Much love to you and your family! ❤

One of our older neighbors offered us free perennials for helping them divide theirs and weed their garden. A few other neighbors heard about our help and offered us the same deal! We now have lovely bearded white and purple iris throughout our garden and it was all for free!

Next best thing to planting more plants is planting more FREE plants. Love it. Can’t wait to see the play set go in. Your kids will love it. One thing I would suggest you do is prepare now for putting up shade sails at least until trees get bigger for shade. We put a set in for our grandkids and they love it. They will spend hours playing on it except when it is real hot. I live in high desert also. A shade sail or 2 angled just right will extend their playtime well into the hottest part of the summer and it will be more comfortable for the grownups that are watching the kids. Love all your videos.

I found my alliums(serenity or millennium) at HD and had been looking for more every year since. Planted mine a several years ago. Next to a young phantom hydrangea and only saw blooms the first 2 years. Last year, I finally realized the problem. My hydrangea had grown so large that it blocks the sun they love, but I was terrified to move them. I just got the courage a few days ago. Took 3 alliums and created 13 plants. Placed in full sun and I’m so darn excited to see blooms this year. Fingers crossed. US South Zone 8a.

      What is HD?
I got alliums that I dug up from my husband’s grandmother yard when she passed..didn’t know what they were when I dug them up because they weren’t in bloom and there was tons of bulbs up and down her pathway. I planted a bunch in a rectangular oil pan I found in her garage and they have come up every year…I do feed all my bulbs spring and fall with bone meal. This year the oil pan corner broke apart from rust and the soil and bulbs spilled out and are growing underneath the leaves. Need to plant in containers and figure out placement later as we have a fence halfway done and I know we will be staining when the weather warms up. My fear is they will get trampled on while the fence is still being worked on. Thank you for your comment so I can get my alliums in containers.

This is how we have a spring plant sale at MSU Tollgate gardens! We dig up all the plants that need dividing and pot them up in gallon containers. We only charge $6 a plant in June after they have sized up in June. It’s a win-win for everyone-we make money to support the garden, the plants benefit and the customers get inexpensive plants. ☺️

We are approaching the 2 year anniversary of being in this house…our first house with a yard, and during my gardening journey, the most exciting part has been diving plants in the spring to make more plants. Especially when you have lots of existing beds that need plants and unearthing future beds that are hidden under piles of leaves or overgrown vegetation. You realize that you need as many free plants as you can get.

I am envious! Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada and I still have 18 inches of snow on my garden beds. A little grass showing through on the south side lawn. Dividing happens in early May if I am lucky. Annuals go in after the 24 th of May. A short but glorious summer in our zone 3 area.

I've been watching you forever and my 5.5 acres is on it's way...thank you so very much. Because I'm 58 and you're still very young, the outdoors can be the enemy of our skin. For 41 years I've been using Olive Oil, YES, from the grocery store (light usually) on my skin. I notice you don't wear gloves often either. I helped make a Dermatologists wife very rich when I explained to him we need more soaps made of Olive Oil. Anyway, my Publix has BOGO Free Olive Oil every month and I cook a lot of Italian food. Olive Oil is good inside and out. Concerned about the smell, add some lavender oil to it. It's the best bathwater wonder, hair conditioner and it will heal ALL the callous' on your hands and feet. You get the idea😉. Happy Planting!

Laura...you certainly know how to get a fire under us. You get us motivated to get things done! Sidebar: With all the gravel drive/road on the property, you'll need to get the kids a two seater go-cart! It will make them both good drivers later in life....not perfect but well prepared with the fundamentals - especially hand eye coordination. Go-carts make some of the best childhood memories! 🌄⛲🏁 Can't wait to see the completed play area!

I love watching your videos. I started planting flowers many years ago and found the joy gardening used to bring no longer did, but i continued going through the motions. Then about three years ago, i found your videos and you have inspired me to get back into being more active in my gardening, and I can't put into words the amount of joy I now get from it! Thank you for bringing the joy of gardening back into my life!

When dividing and transplanting on a smaller scale ~ we will just toss a basket over the plant for 1 to 3 days and it just gives the plant a bit of protection from the sun til it adjusts. Thanks for this timely reminder that I don’t need to run to the nursery. I have plenty of plants to divide😎💝

Great video! I love how many plants you can get from one clump! A few years ago, I tried to divide some beautiful Autumn Joy Sedum. The next year, I quickly realized that was not a good idea. They no longer grow in a beautiful clump shape but more gangly looking stems. The positive note is that they make great cut flowers in the fall...so that's how I use them most. We just had snow yesterday morning but it all melted by dinner time. So glad to have the extra moisture!♡
