  • Hello everyone! And welcome to The Avenues Mall in Jacksonville Florida. Open its doors in 1990, The Avenues Mall was meant to be the big megacenter for the Jacksonville region. With over 1,000,000 ft.² of retail space, and 5 anchors, The Avenues Mall was set to succeed! Through the 90s and early 2000, The Avenues Mall is holding on strong, however, in 2010, when the St. Johns town Center opened, the avenues mall with start facing major competition. However, The Avenues Mall would not go down without a fight, I would still manage to hold on as the highest performing indoor mall for the Jacksonville community. Even with Sears closing in 2019, Simon has held onto this mall and it would still be doing strong throughout the pandemic! Today, The Avenues Mall stands as the primary indoor shopping center for the Jacksonville region! Let’s take a walk through The Avenues Mall while I stopped here for lunch on the school trip!

What are your thoughts on The Avenues Mall, and what do you think its future holds?
P.S: sorry that the mic quality isn’t as good in this video. I’ve been in the process of changing computers, and I had to use my old computer to edit this video still, so I was using a different microphone than usual, and I didn’t get my settings 100% correct on this one. So I do apologize for it sounding a little bit crappy. Anyways, thank you for your understanding!

Glad to see this mall is still doing good. I went there on the weekends when I was stationed in Mayport. Regency was to run down back then to. Love your videos.

I lived in Jacksonville for 25 years and left in 2015. I lived right down the road from this mall so I have logged quite a few hours inside here. Glad to see it is still surviving against the online retailers.

I used to work at Dillard’s at the Avenues back in the summer of 1996. It’s crazy but not much has changed since then. Everything looks just how I remembered it.

Nice video. I've recently found out about this mall and would like to visit it. I'm unable to check it out myself at the moment, but this video gave me a little taste of the experience.

Awesome! The mall does look quite clean and upscale. Carpets are always a risky and questionable choice for malls, but with that weird busy pattern going on, I guess it's harder to tell if they're dirty, so it works out. Simon usually does pretty well with their malls, so it's good to see another success for them. The mall is too busy for me, but your video is a nice way to visit it and see!

I've only one school trip, where we all visited a mall. It was my 8th grade school trip to DC, and we visited(I believe) Pentagon City Mall on the Virginia part of the DC metro area. It was a nice mall, and I hope that mall is still doing well to this day.

I'm glad to see The Avenues Mall holding its own to The St. John's Towne Center. You're right about one thing, It did kill off Regency Square Mall for sure. Thanks for posting.

The Simon Group also owns the Mills Corporation Malls except for Pittsburg Mills Mall. My local mall Potomac Mills Mall in Dale City, VA is doing very well with a few vacancies. It was one of the older Mills malls that opened in 1985. Of course, Simon also owns the JCPenney and Forever 21 which we have at the mall.

It also did now own St Louis Mills. See the pattern? Any mills mall it owns succeeds the couple it did not failed.

Oh yeah, and I believe the empty space is for the Conn's and Belk partnership. I noticed Conn's lettering on the wall, and it reminded me of the Belk around my area with Conn's space reserved for electronics and furniture.

Great video! Yeah, I’m surprised, I thought Belk was around in the North. It’s pretty prominent around my area.

Yeah, we don’t have Belk in Ohio. Closest is West Virginia and Maryland for me

Great video! Your camera shots were perfect and breathtaking! The Avenues is one of my favorite malls architecturally and Sarku Japan is my favorite food court restaurant chain as well lol. You have great taste! Just to note: St. John's Town Center opened in 2005 and was expanded for the first time in 2007. The Avenues didn't start to really feel the punch until 2010. Between 2010 and 2014 many of the better stores relocated to St. John's. Also, you might want to double-check and proofread that description man. It's a little all over the place with run-on sentences, improper verb usage, and words that are missing letters.

Appreciate the support! And thanks for the extra info. I was going off of honestly what I could first find, so I knew some things were probably incorrect, so it’s nice to hear stuff from a local. Also, my description was done with a voice to speech Thing on iPhone, so it probably wasn’t perfect, my apologies.

@@ERA_Productions No problem. Like I said before, overrall you did a fantastic job, especially with the limited time you had, and yeah I know lol. I recognized a good chunk came from Wikipedia because I wrote the part that you spoke in the video LOL! It's all good though. You spoke of the arcade in the food court but didn't include it in the video. Did you have time to visit it off-camera?

The Regency Square Mall certianly took a hit since the St. John's Town Center opened, but the Avenues Mall seems to be holding strong.

It's an average mall and jax is an average city in Florida no different from Orlando or Tampa I've spent much time in all three cities and they all seem OK !! only difference is jax is a little bit quieter and slow paced I live in st augustine so I'm no expert on any of the cities just my opinion
