- Car culture has been shaped by many things. Fast and Furious, underground car meets, and most of all nowadays - social media. One of the biggest influences in my opinion being automotive UA-cam. Car UA-camrs now inspire people to create their own build ideas, become car taste makers if they review cars, or just show you a slice of life. So what are all these people actually like? Let's talk about it.

As someone who studied photography but didn't end up becoming a photographer...do not sell yourself short! You might not always make as much noise as some people on UA-cam but you're one of the most skilled. There's a reason why people and companies outside the UA-cam space seek out your skills. UA-camrs usually make entertaining content, and very very occasionally make art. You usually make art and make entertaining content as a side project. And you do it on subjects that should make for nothing other than documenting or for informing photos and still pull out art somehow. You're a hero in this space!

I met Rob Dahm at Gridlife Midwest in 2022 and we talked for a few minutes about his 4 rotor RX7.
Last year at Gridlife 2023 he actually recognized me out of a crowd of people and gave me a little point and nod as he was pulling out of the pits in his 3 rotor.
Just shows how much of a down to earth guy he is and his fans aren't just some forgettable randoms to him.
Ive met david at ice cream cruise and cleetus and boosted boiz. He signed me and my son's shirts and showed me his vehicles on his phone and chatted. Awsome guy! I love Fords so I talked about the experience forever!!!!❤️ Love ya TDIB!
One my favorite Car UA-camrs on the platform is Tom's Refurb. He's got this crazy body swapped 1st Gen mustang with a boosted b series called Masutangu. It would be such a killer video to review it if that opportunity ever arrises.
His character personality gets old. But maybe it's because I'm getting old. The car stuff is perfect tho

Jimmy Oakes isnt just my favorite automotive youtuber, hes my favorite youtuber in general. The amount of things hes accomplished, even before he had a better budget, is insane. He learned how to do it all himself and then taught the audience. Hes always came across as humble, genuine and helpful. Plus hes had the same friends and girlfriend since day one and brought them all up with him. Cleetus seems like the same type of guy even if their on camera energies are different. But honestly Im subbed to like 70% of these guys and watch every video. Its insane to see what you've all built in the last like 5-10 years. Automotive youtube really is the best genre here. Also thanks for mentioning TommyFYeah. Regardless of how the redditors and some of the viewers feel, I rock with Tommy and it says alot that 95% of the creators he met along the way still rock with him, work with him and some are even business partners. Dude has hella good taste, a good eye for details and created a rad business from nothing. Im sad he deleted all the videos from before the new shop, they were hilarious!

Thanks for shouting out Rob Spaghetti. He is as OG as it gets and even though his content has changed over the years I still am watching him. Who else remembers the Ford GT run from the police, or the crazy supercar moments videos.
Yeah it sucks, seems like his content has fallen off hard since he has so much going on other than UA-cam.
UA-cam is just for fun for him he makes way more money doing other things

If social media was more like this, I would actually participate. A UA-camr giving this much props to other UA-camrs (AKA the competition), is unheard of. This is a true leader, by building everyone else, we all rise together. Nice job man, would hang out with you any time!
Fantastic video David! I dont expect you to see this comment or remember me, but you have always been an outstanding guy and extremely nice to me each time we have met. We saw each other multiple times at PVPG and the Hangar Party. I met many other UA-camrs those couple weekends and can share that all are as genuine as you say. You even remembered my name the last time we saw each other and even gave me a shoutout one time when i was trying to grow my channel. I pivoted and focused on my actual career over UA-cam but I will never forget the tips you gave me and you kind hearted nature overall. I hope that our paths cross again sooner rather than later!

I met David back in Scottsdale at the Future Classics Car Show (Jan 2019), and talking to him was such a cool experience. Dude's a class act. After his filmed segment we walked around, checked out many of the cars, took a couple photos and talked shop for a bit. It was great to meet you, man. I hope you'll come around Louisville, KY or lower Indiana sometime.
Imo cleetus is on top especially now with his branching out to the aviation world with the carbon cub the helicopters and purchasing his own airfield

Dude, I’ve been watching you for 10 years, which is crazy and even met you at a C&O in Atlanta years ago. Please, please continue to listen to Larry. I’d love to see more track videos, documentaries, and videos like this one. You’ve always been one of the most genuine dudes on UA-cam, it’s why I’m still subscribed 10 years later after unsubbing from a lot of the scene. You and RoadsUntraveled will always be my top OG’s and it’s honestly such bs that your art gets rate-limited by a bs algorithm made by people who could never understand car culture as humans. Met TDIB a few years ago at a road Atlanta gridlife event(Vibrant Civic mechanic if he remembers). He is just like the videos, super friendly and willing to talk to people, even while manning his own booth.

Taylor Ray is the unique one out of the bunch. This guy has been through it, he doesn’t publicize it too much but we can all relate to Taylor Ray. He just doesn’t sell it to UA-cam. I have always wanted to make automotive content for UA-cam, but never knew where to start or what to do, or if it was even possible being from where I'm from...but you grew up like 45mins-1hr away from me and you have shown that it is possible. Well I'm starting content creator and I'm actually in Columbus Georgia 2 hours down the road from you I thought just maybe you were gonna be at import alliance 2 years ago but you weren't there I've been here since the Integra video that's what hooked me on your videos and I loved the fact that you incorporated that sound into your current videos you have put out over the years and I'm not a Honda guy but jesus that Integra was awesome and sounding absolutely amazing it made me appreciate proper Honda's that Integra was in my opinion the perfectly done Honda. Met David at a VMP event where they unveiled the S650 supercharger kit. A friend said he would be there so I sent him an email to see if he would drive my car. He responded and it was a super rainy time in Florida, but after a few attempts, he was able to drive my car. I hope the review makes it to UA-cam.

I like that last comment about LZ. I always see people hate on him and some people say he came up with "daddys money". Dude legit went to school for business, and applied it to his life. Every decision he makes always seems to tie into being a marketing or business related decision. Of course he does what he wants to do but also wants to make sure its something that pushes his whole thing forward. Dude has employees now! Seeing his progression as a person was crazy.

This was great! I’m humbled by watching all the Automotive UA-camrs who were trailblazers in an industry that is, in my opinion, still young and deserves much more attention (& investment). Hard work and networking really is important in any line of work, hopefully this pays dividends.
