Combat tactics Mr. MagzTV. By turning into the torpedo the Chendgu attempted to close the distance before it could arm itself.
Unfortunately the captain wasn't a strangely Scottish-sounding Lithuanian man fleeing the Soviet Union, so it didn't quite work out...
R.I.P. buckaroo.
and you arent capt bart mancuso.... :P lol
Noisemakers really only deafen a torpedo's seeker for a short period of time, they don't attract them... the torps turn away from the noisemaker to try and get around what "blinding" them. The best way to use them is to let the torp get close, drop a noisemaker then immediately change course and depth when the torp turns away from the noisemaker.
The MOSS decoy actually makes noises like a real sub, to fool passive sensors into thinking it's a real sub... not sure if they're very effective against active sonar.
Some of the most modern MOSS listen for Sonar, to attempt to "return" the correct soundwaves. Otherwise yes, Cold War stuff, isn't the most effective to active Sonar. The active Sonar gets a return for a small torpedo size object, not a boat. BUT! As far as older torpedoes are concerned. It's sounds like a sub, it acts like a sub, and it's the sub it can see, so it goes for it. Nothing stopping anyone who still has the wire and knows it's a decoy, telling the torpedo to avoid it, same as in-game.
South China Sea's Freedom of Navigation Simulator 2018
going to be interesting future, of us challenging. them .... bring it ;)
One tries to run from a torpedo for three reasons; in the prayers that for some divine reason, it runs ouf of steam. But the things go for hours these days so as you said, not much point trying...
Butf the torpedo hits the side, that's a very big hole in the side, and that'll either cause a list and capsize, or maybe even reduce the structure enough to simply split the boat/ship. Most modern torps ofc target themselves under the keel to break the back instead.
A hit to the stern or even the bow might be crippling, but might just save the ship, or at least give more time for those on hoard to save themselves. There's a lot of objects to hit like the screws and rudder(s) at the back.
Lastly, there's a very, very slim chance, the screw wash will mess with the torps. The newer the torpedo ofc the more likely it will just not care.
Just found you when I searched for Seawolf in Cold Waters. Love your explaining things the way you do. You got a sub and a like!
I'm playing the SCS campaign now with a Flt. 3 LA Class boat. The reason I chose the LA class over the Seawolf is because the LA class boat has a significantly lower active sonar reflectivity than the Seawolf.
Seriously?
@@wyattpeterson6286 You might take it seriously if the enemy is using powerful active sonar and you're trying to remain undetected. The acoustic emissions of the LA class boats were pretty low, low enough that the Chinese warships were not that much of a problem, and so the lower emissions of the Seawolf were not a good trade off for its increased active sonar cross section.
Interesting. As for me, the LA FLT3 is my choice because I use Dot Mod, which makes the boat able to dive deeper. However, it's also got a VLS. Which is such a blessing when you want both torpedos and missiles loaded, ready to roll. Makes TLAM missions and catching fleeing transports much easier.
Are the Flight 3 688's the 688I; or do the 688I's only start at Flight 4...? 🤔
@@NobleKorhedron The 68 flight 3 series is also called the 688i(improved). As far as I know, they are different names for the same sub.
Very interesting. Thank you.
Regards,
Geoff. Reeks
No Bongistani boats?
Damn shame, especially given the prominence of Hong Kong in the campaign.
GREAT ! cannot wait for the Australia campaign, where you have to sail under an island of empty tinnies
love the Seawolf....I have a 1/72 RC model of the SSN21, its awesome
Don't know if you are aware, but like "Cold Waters" is based on Clancy's book "Red Storm Rising" this Campaign is based on Clancy's book "SSN".
I'm surprised that you haven't mentioned the new soviet/russian submarines. They even added Yasen and Akula!
Hussar Akula was always in the game
Hussar Just under NATO reporting name Typhoon
Danny RLM You got the Typhoon SSBN, then you have the Akula SSN. Remember these are NATO names for the vessels, I am aware that the Ruskies proper name for the Typhoon is Akula but NATO doesn't give a damn.
Sarge Sacker25 But they are the same boat. NATO is a waste of effort anyway...
Danny RLM Mate you are not getting the point here are the two *DIFFERENT* subs.

15:49 "veseels"
Happy to see you cover CW again! I love your cold waters videos!
The 1st newspaper dated 28 September 2000 says that tensions have delayed the planned handover of Hong Kong. Hong Kong was handed over on 1 July 1997.
decided to try the campaign myself, got a intercept supplies mission, ended up fighting and destroying 2 surface patrols only to be bombed to death in the third by a Tu-95 that had no sonar in the water, no ship to report my position, and I was 600ft down and was still dropping torps and charges on me like I had a tracking beacon on my boat, oh and I never found the actual mission ships to destroy.
your skills are quite impressive
Thx 4 the video and the heads up on Fanatical, got me a great deal on a bundle.
4:23 is that not the Romeo in shot?
Do not underestimate a diesel electric sub... when they are running electric they are even quieter than a nuclear sub
That's how the Swedish defeated a US Carrier in a Wargame lmao
@@nigelwigglwattle I didn't know of that example, interesting!
The Romeo class sub isn’t modern enough to be lethal until the kilo class sub was born
well done vid. nice review
Good to see some more campaigns. Although I'd love to see a better travel map gameplay, comparable to Silent Hunter
In real life, if Chinese economy were to crash, the PRC Govt would likely mount an invasion of Taiwan to take political pressure off of central govt. It would be intense situation.
And positively going to triggering what possible of a first spark of WW3? Thats suicidal and lunacy in a single package.. How efficient of them Chinese..
BTW how can the collapse of the Thai Baht lead to major conflict between East and West?
Let them try. The democratic world won't allow it to happen.
Its that bloody liberation simulator again!
Fuqing laser sight
4:23 isnt that a diesel sub at the left?
If they really want to increase the difficulty, they can add pre-installed passive sonar arrays that Chinese put on their shores. The game will be much more interesting than just dealing with pre-historic submarines.
I much prefer the centifoot to the kiloyard
Hey is anyone getting this bug where you can click on anything else in the map beside your own submarine on the mini map? It seems like it wouldn’t be that bad, but it really fucks up my gameplay and has caused me to die numerous times because I can’t properly evade when I’m getting shot at.
The enormous seaweed
It's pretty ridiculous when the sub is up close to the seaweed. If the scale were accurate, that seaweed would be over 60 feet high.
Does anyone else find a ship called fuqing hilarious
Ben Dover I don't care I will call it the fucking for the rest of my life
Some parts of Pinyin really cause problems for anglophones. I mean, you see Qing and if it's not accurately pronounced there's no way to guess what that's supposed to sound like. Q is one of those letters of dubious need in English.
I was going to say questionable, but perhaps I could just say ...kwestionable?
HEEE HEEE a word in another language sounds like a naughty war her her.
Dude grow up
War Crimes “naughty war”
Looks interesting, although I do not like strategy games, I am gonna give this a try. But I wish the effects and destruction would look better. This explosion effects and 2d hull breach Textures, idk...
hey, question.....the depth changer and helm controls...is that a mod or no?
Its nice to have a big content update! I was even starting to get tired of New Playable Subs
Love this video
First mission I got was a 5ky knife fight with a Kilo SS, a Romeo, and a trawler with radar and a CWIS gun
Elite difficulty made the kilo evade about 3 mk48s and send another back after me.
onewhosays goose are you sure that thing is a trawler lol
It looked exactly like a trawler in the sonar book and its model, but the sneaky sailors had a 30mm autocannon hidden somewhere.
Rest assured it did not save them from my ballistic missile.
This whole game is about the outside of submarine only?
Nice Work
Can you tell me how you managed to enable the trees? Because on my end, even though the "Trees" is enabled in the options, all I can see is soil.
I would like to see sailors on the hostile ships with the crew jumping of the ship when it sinks.
Life boats and such too would be sick
pump-jet prop still not that effective (to reduce sound and cavitation) or what?
Two kilo yards lol.
You've captured the U.S. perfectly.
bit of a long shot, but any estimation as to when this campaign might be released?
you can play it already if you want to, no harm to be done in selecting the beta-version :)
Do you use the keyboard wasd etc to manouver your sub? I'd love a tutorial video on this game! Because Im kinda inclined to buy it but it looks so hard!
There definitely is a learning curve (and yes you can use WASD)
Souch China Sea campaign should have a hard mode, in a Collins class submarine.
oh finally, just start to get real war thunder and miss the release of the beta of cold waters :D
btw, look like the chinese torp change depth a lot worse than the mk48
'
honor and salute to all submarines workers of americans navys...
submarines workers musts be perfect seeing eyesights as 20/20 visions...
submarines workers are not allowed to uses contact eyes and eyeglasses at all
Where is the best place to download the Soviet campaign?
Lachie Clements subsim
where da faq is surviving mars at
I hope that the Seawolf gets ADCAP
just so you know, your videos havent showed up in my subscription feed in allmost 3 weeks. youtube at its finest
i think a good addition, would be the north Korean campaign, trump has blockaded north Korea, and the base of operations is in south Korea; i think this campaign would be fun because it is happening IRL and you would have to watch out for friendly ships in engagements
James Shaw If it's just North Korea we're fighting it wouldn't be a fun campaign, all of the Norths subs are out dated diesels. Majority of their sub fleet are mini subs so it wouldn't be challenging. Though if China enters the war then I would be up for it, though realistically you would have to be based out of Japan or something as South Korea will fall if conflict happens.
as it did in the forgotten war
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSS
How do prominent fictions of a Chinese invasion always involve Taiwan declaring independence FIRST?
One would think that the authors would have wanted the Blue Force to be as sympathetic as possible......
I don't get it... Are you really really good, or is the AI really dumb, or is it a bit of both?
Compare the graphics on this game to sub command and I promise you that you will think this games graphics look amazing by comparison
"South China Sea"? It should be "East Vietnam sea".
A chinese ship called fuqing .... hmm
Well I'm second, Hi Magz
I find these sub games to be BS, always.
Visibility is great at great depths which is rubbish.
One can watch own sub from the outside and what’s going on around sub which is plain silly.
A big yawn.
However enjoy the videos since well made so thumbs up anyway.
Well, it's an arcade-like sim. If you wan't realism, go play Silent Hunter.
Xer0 Thanks, will check it out.
Lachy T Ah sorry. Wasnt aware this comment section is for specific topics only approved by you.
Eryk, You seem to not understand how Cold Waters Works.
Yes you look at the submarine from the outside but did you notice how some of those ships and subs suddenly rendered in on the 3rd person camera? The game only renders the 3D models of Ships or Submarines that you have managed to get a perfect targeting solution on. Essentially the 3rd person camera is a physical 3D render of your own sonar.
You can be right on top of an enemy sub but if you don't have a perfect (95%+) solution it will not render on the 3rd person view.
MagzTV Depends on how you have it configured... there's a check box for whether 3D models are rendered if you don't have a solid solution for them.
hey, question.....the depth changer and helm controls...is that a mod or no?
