Sverdlovs were WWII style light cruisers built in the 50s, so no sonar. Those escorts were more modern and valuable combatants than that "capital" ship unless it was heading directly for an invasion beach or something. :D
Makes me wish cold waters was on mobile devices and the devs DID say something about it being at the back of their heads but I guess they decided not to dang it
Detected a transport? Khe Khe, on 95% you could discover it's a trawler not transport. Cuz partizans (and some other) have exactly the same signature. Also some international merchants have same signatures as russian merchant ships so you literally need to visually check their flags. Sadly sinking those russian ones (unless its a mission dealing with russian invansion force or ressuply convoy) doesn't even count :( I still do it tho, it's war. Also if you're dissapointed with how easily Sverdlov sunk, check out the mods again. The realism mod updated to 0.4. Which is interesting since in one engagement between me and russian subs I've hit a Victor II that was just below periscope depth. That Victor managed to survive and surface by emergency blowout. It made for awesome screenshots when I've pulled up my sub alongside it on the surface. Kara's and Sverdlov's do take more torpedoes too, not to mention even things like Kiev's or Kuznetsov's. Anyhow - it's nice to see CW back on the channel.
Your close in shots seem to me to be the difference between a big game hunter and an assassin. One is about the thrill of the chase. The other, the economy of action in a quick kill. Both styles can be fun.
I can only think of one engagement where i spawned far enough away so that the rocket delivered torps from ships weren't on top of me. It doesn't matter to much as those are the easiest torps to dodge provided they didn't catch you off guard, and once the Mk 48 acquires a ship there is little to be done except delay the inevitable, no wire required.
Have they added some more content since release? Because honestly I was very underwhelmed when it came out. The game mechanics themselves I liked, but in my opinion the amount of content was sorely lacking back then, considering the price they were asking. Russian campaign? Friendlies? Anything new in that area?
Well, I might have another look when the DLC comes out. And yeah I played with that mod for a while, but the devs don't get any points for that, do they? I mean that mod has more content than the base game.
Robin Schuhmacher points for making a game promising enough people will bother to mod it I guess, I might pick it up once the DLC drops as the lack of content is the biggest complaint I've heard from people

It was meant to be heading into the AO of a small NATO carrier group.

Harpoon strike would have been a waste anyway on that Sverdlov. it has 8 CIWS mounts that would shred them before they even got close.
Always look forward to your Cold Waters gameplay. Keep up the great work.

Husser, I had it on 95%, It was a Russian Partizan transport. I was within 0.5 kilo-yards of it at once point as I was chasing the cruiser.
Huh. I've never thought of submarines like deadly ocean farts before.
A center mass shot seems todo more damage... I’ve noticed it a few times
👍👍
I keep wondering... Are there ever any whales to match sonar signals to?
Yes. . . I may have accidentally torpedoed one before.

It be great if you could play as the Warsaw Pact
yeeeees more cold waters

Because a Mk 48 can run for half an hour and still be an annoyance XD
I question the classification of a light cruiser as a capital ship... this is more the games fault than yours... but still...
The game doesn't have many capital ships to use the "capital ship" voice line, and that cruiser certainly isn't an anti-submarine escort.
In the mod it takes 2-3 torps go kill the CL
It's a capital ship because of its tonnage. The Sverdlov is about 16,000 tons, while the Udaloy and Kara are only around 9,000 tons.
Why should cruisers be bad looking?
What is the approximate distance of a square on the map.

yeeeeeeessssss

Robin Schuhmacher South China Sea free DLC is coming very soon, otherwise playable subs mod adds soooooo much content and 4 new campaigns

Btw, what happens when you torpedo a whale?
Usually an explosion followed by a lot of well fed smaller fish.
MagzTV
Dang. Humpbacks must also love binging TNT, Explosive Powder, Torpedoes, Bombs, etc...
They already tried this in the USA...LOL
