Thanks so much for this video. I know I’m a little (well, a lot) late to the party. I’m just discovering this modern board game hobby and I appreciate having all these videos. They’ve helped me make a lot of purchase decisions. This one looks like a good one for our current level of ability. I appreciate all of you!
When I saw this video in my recommended feed I was like: "Wait a minute. Have they already played this and I didn't notice?!" but then I saw the upload date. What a relief I'm not completely oblivious.
Coming from a huge Dominion fan, I did not like playing this game and I've tried both this and the space version both twice. The randomness of the available cards bugs me. The games I've played, if one person picks up a trashing card early and no one else has the option to get one, due to the luck of them not showing up, that person becomes a runaway leader because they're able to thin their deck while the others don't even get the option to. The ability, or should I say lack of, to control what is in your deck just makes this feel like a slog midway through the game.
Nice playthrough guys! Already waiting for next episode, My collection is rising in numbers due to you, and it is getting awesome with so many fun games :D Thank you for doing so much for the community! Cheers! :D
James Andresen Careful... cuz Dave made a mistake when using his minus Clank card early on in the game. Minus Clank cards only remove Clank you would create in your 5 card hand that turn. You're not supposed to remove Clank from the Clank pile.
Unless there's been some errata or FAQ from the designer, I don't think that's a correct interpretation of the rule book. All it says is "for each negative Clank! you get, remove one of your Clank! from the Clank! area." so you could remove any that was on the board regardless of when it was placed, but once it goes into the bag it can no longer be removed. Incidentally, the rule that I was playing wrong was in using devices. I missed the part in the rule book where it says that they are used immediately and then discarded.

I was considering during the earlier game that maybe Nikki should have done her best to enrage and provoke the dragon to attack (for example with multiple purchases), because she had a lot fewer cubes going into the bag because of her tattle, and maybe killing off her competition early.
Thank you for the explanation then play through. I love watching you guys explain how to play then play the game it really helps new players. Thanks!!!

Just bought this game and haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I'm really looking forward to trying it. The push your luck dungeon delving really interests me as well and it looks like a game where there will be lots of fun and joking with the other players. Thanks for the great video guys.
That does suck at times but to be fair I'm not entirely sure she should be on these shows without having played a particular game multiple times because she's not the best at remembering rules or knowing how to most efficiently play most of these games...in other words, she often needs to help, IMHO.
Her facial expression is similar to mine. My "resting" face looks grumpy to the average person, even if I am having fun. My friends know this, but to strangers, I have to make extra effort to exaggerate my face to look happy or they get the impression I am upset. I have commented many times before, that Dave tends to bully her into playing a certain way. Not everyone cares if they make the most optimal move. He needs to just let people take their turn and only offer advice if he feels they are forgetting a rule, not if their move isn't optimal.
Nikki is an adult who also happens to be a pretty darn experienced gamer who works in the industry. If she didn't appreciate coaching during games she was playing for the first time, she would have mentioned it at some point during the ~100 episodes of this show they've shot, plus the many additional unfilmed game sessions she has played with this group of people . Some people are nervous during first plays and like to default to others for help on initial turns. As long as that's what's going on and it isn't unwanted alpha gaming, nobody should have any issue with this.
at 35:33 he uses the cloak to remove 2 clank and draw a card. He drew the card first and drew stumble which adds 1 clank. He only had 1 clank when he played the cloak. As I understand it, you should read the card and resolve from top to bottom. In this case he should have removed his only clank, then drew the stumble, and added 1 clank.
Removing the Clank lasts throughout his entire turn. So even if he would have done it the way you said...he still would have been able to remove that second Clank!

They should play Flick 'em Up. I love dexterity games, I'm pretty sure they haven't played one yet, and it would solve the inside joke of a problem that Dave and Lincoln think more strategically that Nicki and Aaron.
Mike should have won the game. On his final turn, if he had moved right and then up (as we're looking at the board) then he could have taken the tokens worth 7 more points which would have given him the win.
Risk/reward makes a game exciting. Doesn't seem like this game is very balanced in that respect. The game is missing a mechanism from keeping a player from exiting early. Maybe lake a goal at the bottom of the dungeon that once when reached unlocks the exit. I think with a mechanic like that, it would decrease the chances of someone prematurely triggering the end of game sequence. Or remove the awards from the exit.
T Gatehouse I don't think he was cheating. He only gave 2 or 3 quick shuffles, not enough to randomize the deck. He glanced at the bottom of the deck, possibly absent mindedly because he was watching Nikki's play, or to check if the cards were clumped together. Either way, he kept shuffling for about 2 or 3 minutes and didn't look again.
Looks perfectly innocent to me. You’re perfectly within your rights to check what cards are in your deck before shuffling, to remind yourself what you’ve bought so far. When Dave starts shuffling, you can see on at least 3 occasions, he takes 4-6 cards from the top and puts them back either 1 or 2 from the bottom, so he’s not working the Stumble card at all. He also cuts the deck at least twice in the process. I’ve done a lot of magic/sleight of hand training in my time and I’m quite good at seeing if cards are being controlled. I don’t see shenannigans here. 🙂
couldn't have Lincoln stayed near the top of the dungeon and fought the reserve goblin for the rest of the game and collect money (victory points)? then he could have exited just before another player exits.
Alex Ngui I've never played this before, but I feel like if he did that, then everyone else would then gain addition turns as well. The game would have lasted more rounds. Everyone else would have more time to gain additional points, and then possibly beat Lincoln.
oh so your comment is somehow more interesting? well, you're right. it is interesting. especially for someone who's a clinical psychiatrist specializing in blatant self-entitled behaviors.

Uh, he shuffles for about 5 minutes after this. Haha. Like he cares that much about winning :)
couldn't have Lincoln stayed near the top of the dungeon and fought the reserve goblin for the rest of the game and collect money (victory points)? then he could have exited just before another player exits.
Alex Ngui I've never played this before, but I feel like if he did that, then everyone else would then gain addition turns as well. The game would have lasted more rounds. Everyone else would have more time to gain additional points, and then possibly beat Lincoln.
@@mariusvamp exactly. that's the point of the game. he could've farmed the goblins, but the game is likely balanced against it.
Christianity is built around the number 3.....just saying.
20 minutes to explain Clank!? Really?
Why can't you just say the name of the game normally? I honestly couldn't watch past 1:07 due to being instantly annoyed at the way you pronounce it.
wtf
👎👎👎
Keep the camera on the board. I'm not interested in seeing you.
oh so your comment is somehow more interesting?
well, you're right. it is interesting. especially for someone who's a clinical psychiatrist specializing in blatant self-entitled behaviors.
