Dude, this video is incredible. It really shows you know the game more in depth than just repeating the rulebook. Everything was super clear, concise and with the exact right amount of repetition. The cinematography and the examples were top notch. Really impressive. I agree with the other comments so far, best rules teach I’ve ever watched. At the start I was bummed you used the TTS version, but that quickly went away when you started with your tutorial magic.

I am right here, nodding at every single one of these words.
I have often thought about what could be the best order to introduce concepts while teaching base Arcs. No more. I will simply generate a transcript of this video and format it as an outline to refer to while teaching. It’s perfect.

@@FBracht Have done same as you, this is how my teaching outline looks like based on harsch's video:
Tutorial Document: How to Play ARCS Board Game
      Chapter 1: Introduction
      - ARCS is a hybrid trick-taking and sci-fi strategy game for 2-4 players.
      - The game duration is approximately 45 minutes per player.
      - The game has two versions: the single session short ARCS and the three session campaign ARCS (with the blighted reach expansion).
      - Each player controls a faction in the dangerous reach at the edge of the Galaxy.
      - The goal is to have the most power, which is shown on a track at the bottom of the board.
      - The game ends when certain power thresholds are hit, depending on the number of players.
      Chapter 2: Core Game Concepts
      - Each player has access to ships, agents, and buildings (cities and starports).
      - Ships are mobile units on the map, built at starports and used to control areas or fight.
      - Buildings are built onto the map in triangle areas. Cities are used for taxing resources from a planet and starports are used for building more ships.
      - Agents are sent to a galactic Court to influence Guild members to join your faction.
      - The game's map is made up of six clusters, each with four systems.
      - Players can control these systems if they have more fresh ships there than any rival.
      Chapter 3: Resources and Court
      - There are five resources in the game: material, fuel, weapons, relics, and psionic.
      - Players can tax these resources from the supply.
      - The court is filled with Guild cards that represent the support of Guild Masters and task forces within the reach.
      Chapter 4: Ambitions
      - Players gain power by scoring in five Ambitions: Tycoon, Tyrant, Warlord, Keeper, and Empath.
      Chapter 5: Actions
      - Players can build, repair, tax, move, influence, secure, and battle.
      - Each action has specific rules and outcomes.
      Chapter 6: Turn Structure
      - Players play action cards in a trick-taking minigame.
      - Each card has a subset of actions tied to it and a certain number of action Pips.
      - Players can surpass, pivot, or copy after the lead player has played a card.
Chapter 7: Scoring and End of Game
      - At the end of each chapter, players score power from Ambitions.
      - If a player has passed the required amount of power for the player count or if the chapter marker is on chapter 5, the game ends.
      - The player with the most power wins.
      Chapter 8: Two-player Modifications
      - The court only has three cards in a two-player game.
      - Six resources are removed from their supply and put in ambition boxes.
      - The player who doesn't have initiative may discard their whole hand and draw six new cards at the start of a chapter.
      Chapter 9: Variants and Expansions
      - The leaders and lore variant adds some asymmetry.
      - The blighted reach expansion adds a grand and epic three-part campaign.
Thanks again to harsch - I love you're using TTS as this is also one of the ways I will play

I’ve watched a couple of your vids and this one convinced me I needed to sub. I didn’t back Arcs like I did Oath and Root, but now I have it on Pre-order over at Leder and I’m getting hyped over with your analyses.

During outrage, when you secured a card from the court that has the same icon as the city youve outraged. Do you get to keep the card or discard it as well?

    • @harsch1
      @harsch1 4 місяці тому

Yes you get to keep it! Ransacking the court is the last step of outraging.
This is also true if you steal something in a raid since the rolled Key symbols are resolved after city destruction and outrage is fully resolved.

    • @harsch1
      @harsch1 6 місяців тому +3

I didn't want to get into the details of Court cards that break the rules of the game but you are correct that there are Court cards that let you subvert Outrage.
However if you lose access to those cards (through raiding or stealing) your Outrage remains so it's not a permanent recovery.

    One question:
I can discard my guild cards using its prelude ability even though I can't trigger its effect? This is to just get rid of cards so people won't raid me.

    • @harsch1
      @harsch1 5 місяців тому +1

In general, no. But if you could partially fulfill its prelude ability (add 2 ships instead of 3), then existing rules point towards that being allowed. Nothing is set in stone and I would find out what your table is OK with or ask on BGG or the Woodland Warriors Discord server until the FAQ is updated.

Evil S, I, yes, to find a shore
A beast that doesn't quiver anymore
And we could crush some plants to paint my walls
And I won't try to fight in the weekend wars
Was I? I was too lazy to bathe
Or paint or write or try to make a change
Now I can shoot a gun to kill my lunch
And I don't have to love or think too much
Instant battle plans written on the sidewalk
Mental mystics in a twisted metal car
Tried to amplify the sound of light and love
Christ is cursed of fathers and martyrs
Might even take a knife to split a hair
Or even scare the children off my lawn
Giving us time to make the makeshift bombs
Every mess invested was a score
    We couldn't use computers anymore
And it's difficult to win unless you're bored
And you might have to plan for the weekend wars
Try to break my heart, I'll drive to Arizona
It might take a hundred years to grow an arm
I'll sit and listen to the sound of sand and cold
Twisted diamond heart, I'm the weekend warrior (oh)
My predictions are the only things I have
I can amplify the sound of light and love
    I'm a curse and I'm a sound
When I open up my mouth
    There's a reason I don't win
I don't know how to begin
    I'm a curse and I'm a sound
When I open up my mouth
    There's a reason I don't win
I don't know how to begin
    I'm a curse and I'm a sound
When I open up my mouth
    There's a reason I don't win
I don't know how to begin
    I'm a curse and I'm a sound
When I open up my mouth
    There's a reason I don't win
    I don't know how to
Great video btw very clear and perfect enunciation.
