Thanks you! that was very well done - my new e-bike is the same as in the video even the same color. Out for a ride this morning / 30 miles made it home. came out to the garage to fined a rear flat. So the video is spot on, 😊thanks again .
Fantastic, I already hate changing regular bike tubes, now I'll have a dozen more steps to screw up and several new tools to carry when I'm in the middle of nowhere
I'm with you man 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 just remember not to forget the spare tube or the pump 🙄🤣🤣🤣, pain in the ass if you have all the tools but you don't have the tube or a pump 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for demonstrating this. I am looking into going on a group ride that requires everyone to carry a tire repair kit . . . I can’t imagine doing this while 50 people wait for me, but at least now I know how it’s done!
So true, I imagined a flat tire on my Aventure would involve a free bike sign taped to it and an Uber. 😂 tonight I walked my bike home three miles with a mystery flat on front. I have Tannus inserts and slime nothing on tread. Tannus says you can ride at 5mph on flat yeah BS. Watching this video I’m all in.
@@ThanksForTheLaughdid you use the walk setting?
@@MarkSmith-js2pu No, on my bike the walking setting is actually a jog setting. Turned out to be a torn tube where valve stem goes in. Must have happened when bike shop installed Tannus inserts
I'll be your Uber if I can have the bike and not charge for the ride 🤔😯🤫🧐😉😎🇺🇲💚🙏🏼✌️
Thanks! your instructions were so wonderful even a 60 year old grandma could do it. I feel so empowered!
Thank you! I bought a spare tire for my ebike because I'd already had to deal with a flat on my regular and wanted to be prepared. But when I was sitting there looking at everything I realized that I had NO CLUE how to take the wheel off. You made it so simple I was able to have everything all done in a fraction of the time I expected it to take!
Thank you , short and right to the point .
Just got a flat on my lvl 2 aventon yesterday, this was the answer. I appreciate this video to the fullest for making a difficult situation manageable, thank you!
I really enjoyed how you took time to focus on and explain each step and some of the troubleshooting. I appreciate you posting this video. I have subscribed and I look forward to more.
Thank you for this. I'm going to try this on my bike. I was afraid of getting a rear tire puncture because I had no idea of how to get the wheel off; now I know. I must make sure I carry the proper size wrench.
I found it very easy with your demonstration! I thought I had to take my ebike to someone who knows about e-bikes.
Since I have chronic lower back pain, I would have to use a chair.
Thank you again 👍 now I just have to rewatch it again just to make sure ❤️
I had very bad lower back pain and in my calves; I could hardly walk when I moved to this house. Fancy special arches helped only a little. One day I found out, after having gone up and down these steep, tall basement stairs for a while, that the inserts were making my feet hurt so I took them out of my shoes. I don't need them anymore, also, walking barefoot feels wonderful! Even if it's the only exercise I do, I'm strengthening the muscles in my back.
Maybe a stair-stepper would help you?😶🌫️
This video was OUTSTANDING! So much better than other videos.
Thank you for showing me how to take this thing off. I honestly wouldn't have thought about the derailer to do it like that. Saved me a lot of time and a headache!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! Less than a month into my very first e-bike and my first flat was the back… in a heat wave, in the south. As bicycle are my only form of transportation in the rural area, your video saved me so much extra struggle and made this repair far less intimidating!!
The washers and their exact placement are critical to keeping your rear tire aligned and not rubbing the frame - if they're lost or forgotten about which order they go you're in for a bad time.
Great detail and video. Yes, Aventon does have that special washer that has to be in position before the wheel axle will drop into the frame. The derailer looks more intimidating and complex than it appears. I found it was actually the easy part. Thank you so much for the advice.
This was terrific. Thanks for the video it made my difficult day an easier night
Thank you for taking the time to show us how to change a rear hub drive flat. I think, for me, it would be a good Idea to take the wheel off a few times to get the hang of it.
Very helpful. Thank you for the information.
Thank you! I was able to change the rear tire with your help on an electric bike! I did it as I would on a regular bike until I got to putting those washers on I made a mistake by putting them on the outside instead of the inside of the axel Thank you very much!!
Awesome video! I no longer fear taking the tire off on my Aventon!
Yea for you! First I spent an hour removing and patching tube, then two hours trying to put the wheel back on without much luck. The "slotted washers" were the problem. Thanks so much for that bit of detailed information. Just one other thing - had a terrible time getting those slotted washers to line up until I put a small wrence on the axle and turned it a bit while lining up to the dropouts. I'm an old geezer and should have learned by now to read the instructions (watch UA-cam vids) FIRST. 🙂
I still have to remember to have the 10mm wrench in my hand when installing ! It does help
Very nice detailed video. I just had a flat on the rear wheel of my Velotric D2. Would not have been able to repair the tube without your help. Thanks!
Thank you - your video took the fear out of this for me, and your comments about the derailleur made me laugh, because I'd been thinking exactly that...OMG what's going to happen to the derailleur lol. thank you!
Absolutely brilliant tutorial, gotta do mine and didn’t have the first arse clue how to do it! Many thanks 👍
Thank you very much. The job looked formidable but you made it seem possible. Great work
I'm almost 66, my co-worker will do it for me, he's a mechanic. I'm not. I just want to ride my fat tire bike. I pay him cash to do it for me. Or I'm taking it to my bike shop. Yes, I've done it myself. Pain in the rear job, and aligning the tire. Without a bike stand it blows.
This is a great video!!! Thank you so much for creating it! I’m not a bike pro and normally I would have had someone else do this for me, but your video gave me the confidence to do it myself and I DID IT!!! TY!!!
Great instructions but I'm worried about putting the tire back on and getting everything lined up in order for it to slip back in. Wish me luck and thank you.
Good luck 🍀 you can do it just take your time
The distance between the frame and the wheel is sufficient enough for an on-bike puncture repair, it depends on the size of the wheel, but is a lot more rapid.
Just a tip if you run into the same problem I ran into:
If the tire is not lifting out easily and it looks like the frame is still holding it in place near where the nuts were removed, remove the bolts connecting the rear rack to the frame. For some reason some bikes have a mechanism that will hold the tire in place even after the nuts are removed, so you must remove extra bolts and flex the frame slightly.
(Found this issue on the Emmo Ewild)
Thank you!
Thank you so much for the video I had no idea how to do this.. I was actually scared at first I was like I don't know what to do🙄🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video.. the bike I have now has a plug like your demonstrating.. the one I had before that I couldn't figure out how to detach the cable.. so I had to do it on the bike like you said.. thanks again man..
TY! Really helpful.
Great video.
I like your video. You make it look relatively painless. It has encouraged me to try to fix my tire myself. If I mess up my bike, I'm coming back to unlike the video!😅
Excellent thanks for explaining passively, with explanations!!
Very helpful thank you
This was such a great help - thanks for posting.
I’m not so quick to learn but I am a good slow learner lol
This video helps a lot
Thank you! This was very helpful with me trying to replace my brakes!
Today I changed rear tire on a Ridstar q20. It was easy. The tires come off and on the rim very easy. I had a tire that must have been leaking from the seam over 36hrs.
In the tire I installed a double layer of cheap Amazon tire puncture film.
BTW, if the bike sits on its back for 4 weeks like mine did, the brakes may not work unless ya pump them, a lot. Be cautious.
And the cheap liners ($20) did not self-adhesive like I presumed they did. I had to use double-sided tape to hold them in place. I think any kind of fast drying rubber glue would also work.
Good teaching.👍 I have to remove the rear wheel on my Panama Jack to tighten the bumper screws. You made me feel like I can do it. Bravo! Praise God!👏😶🌫️
Great video. It's a huge help. Thanks for making it.
Thanks for this very helpful video
Thank you so much! simple and practical. Bravo ❤
This video was very fitting for just got a Level2 (slightly different model - the step through variety) and managed to get a flat riding less than 50 miles 😕. Thanks to the author of this video for the info. for the owners manual offers no information how to do this 🤨.
Ingesting, but I just watched a tech show how to patch a rear tube puncture while leaving the wheel on the bike in a real world scenario with literally just a handful of tools. 😊
That is an option. Patching does take some patients and practice
I have to run sealant, as I live in the desert, lots of goat head stickers. And liners, until I get street tires. 😮
Great, thank you, so so good
great video
Closed my bike shop before buying an Ebike so have changed a few tires but this would not have been a good experience if I had not seen this video first. THANKS
Thanks so much for this video! Got my first flat on the aventon and looked at my tire like "welp..." and the repair shop near me doesn't do ebikes! 😂 Thabks again
Thank you!!!
If you can see the tyre penetration point from the outside, then there is no need to remove the wheel, just flip off the tyre and pull out the innertube and repair!
Bless you..
Hey they was helpful
thankyou r video was so easy to follow step by step n im a women u rock i sub to ur channel thanks again
My NIU BQI C3 Pro is different enough that I would like to see a video specific to that bike. It has a gearless rubber belt drive and other differences.
Great video! What size wrench did you use?
On this bike it is an 18mm. Some use a 19mm
Thanks, Lloyd great video.
I have a Aventon Level 2. I was thinking about changing the tires on the bike, I have 27.5 2.1. I would like to put 27.5 2.5. With some more of a aggressive tires, will that fit on the bike? If it will do I need to change the tubes? Thanks.
I haven’t tried that big of a tire, it might fit if you remove the fenders.
@@BumsteadsBicycles thanks for the info. Take care.
I want to learn how to remove the inner tube because the tire stuck to the rim
I will do a video on removing the tire and tube next. Sometimes they can be difficult
Thank you. On my Level 2. Reinstall the rear wheel. No rubbing on disk rotor or brakes. Seems to roll ok. Test ride. Could barely pedal bike without assist. Felt like it was dragging. Reviewed all washers put in place with pictures I took. Took bike to LBS. Told the hub needed adjustment. Now rides like it did. LBS wouldn't tell me what a hub adjustment is. What is a hub adjustment? I did notice when wheel was off. Inner nut on axel was loose and told to never touch it.
There is a nut on the disc side that could have been over tightened but vary rare on this hub. Sorry they wouldn’t explain what they found needing to adjust, it would have been useful for the next time you have to remove the wheel.
@@BumsteadsBicycles Thank you. Your videos are very helpful.
I Cannot get the power plug to disconnect. Do you have unscrew instead?
Some bikes do have to be unscrewed, look for silver rings that turn. If there aren’t metal rings the plug is just very tight
I have a gyroor c3
🎉
Hey.. Would you know why my motor connection keeps coming loose when I press the throttle after changing tire I'm having a motor fail issue and it snaps off whenever I do that 🤔🤔??
I did it the same way you did yours, but my tire wont spin freely. Its really stiff. What iam did wrong..I cant ride nomore..
I would check to make sure the brake pads aren’t rubbing. Also check to make sure that the washers on the axle went back properly, sometimes one will end up to the outside of the frame that should have been to the inside
4:32 any tips for breaking this loose? It wont even budge
It can’t be this easy there’s no way. Everytime a repair video on a car looks this easy it’s a nightmare. Might be different since it’s just a bike but we’ll see.
Good luck 🍀
@@BumsteadsBicycles thank you, youre video helps me have less anxiety about it, thank you
I need help. I had a flat tire on Monday. I followed a different video on how to change my e-bike tire. Did it. But now my chain is loose when I pedal. Not that I need to pedal but how can I fix the chain?
P. S. Colorway bk29
Not sure why the chain would be loose, maybe the chain isn’t on the sprockets at the wheel. If that is the reason when you turn the cranks the wheel wouldn’t move. Would have to see a picture to be of more help
@@BumsteadsBicycles how? I would gladly show you to be able to know maybe what to do? No offense, I know the “pros” can but all I’ve ever rode up til now is a bicycle and I didn’t care. Replacements were cheaper. This is important haha. MCL.
P. S. If I pedal forward the lower part hangs. If I pedal backwards the top part hangs. If that helps?
Looking to make bike faster into setting only des 19 miles slow
Hi any idea why rear wheel keeps coming out when i riding up hills even when i torque to specs.
Do you have the keyed washer installed properly? If you do, we had a bike that did this and it was a faulty motor and we replaced the wheel
Really I didn't know the motor can do that. But it did this before motor faulty. It did this after I took out the flat tire for fixing then after I installed it back it started to do this.
If it was fine before you removed the wheel it means something is installed wrong. The motor has a lot of torque and requires the axle be secured with washers that have a notch that fits in the frame to keep it from turning
I don't really know why. Everything fits the same way I took out
I have no clue why
What about torque arm? 🤔
Gotrax Emerge hub drive is a PITA. No plug. Slim in the tube as a preventive. Freewheel swapping needs a tear down.
That is why I went tubless.
6:18 Not a good idea to put the brake rotor on the (typically greasy) chain.
My mom says thank you
How do you change a rear flat tire on a Mid-Drive motor e-Bike?
On a mid drive it is a traditional rear wheel , so much lighter and no power cable .
@@BumsteadsBicycles Thank you! I sure plan to keep supporting you!
good but who is filming this...they are not on the area you r teaching about!
Can you just patch it? You don’t need to take off the tire
Yes that is an option. Many people patch their tube. I personally don’t do it unless I have used up all other options
Again
This is terrible. You summed up the hardest part with just saying "Do your repair". Why are there no videos of people taking the damn tire off the rim?
I must disagree with this comment. My front tire went flat on my Ebike and I was able to change that without watching a video. But without this video my only option would have been a bike repair shop. So the hardest part is definitely dealing with removing the wheel properly, not getting the tube out. You don't need to put Ebike in your search for that. Just search for simple bicycle flat tire repair.
@@jeremyespinosa2237 Um, read your comment again, it doesnt make a ton of sense.
@@SSMLivingPictures Your comment stated the hardest part is taking the damn tire off the rim. I'm saying that taking the tire off the rim is actually a common task that people learned how to do long before there were E-bikes. Anyone can search for a video on changing a bike tire. You managed to go to a video that specifically is here to help with the complicated task of removing the back tire off of an e-bike. A task so complicated that some bike repair shops refuse to do the work. The repair shops that will do it will charge you like $100 to change it. So I'm disagreeing with you and stating that taking the damn tire off the rim is the easiest part of the difficult task that this video helped me with.
Change the title, its misleading dude: take off and put on rear wheel only. you never fixed a flat tire in this video.
It was not you do not know what you are doing 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well the plug has arrow on both side of plug you get the connections right we are leaning you do no nothing about bike have nice day
Talk wayyyyy to much would been better if u just shut it n do what the video says we don't need all that taking
Thanks!
