  • Learn how, after being laid off in March of 2020, I was able to generate a six figure Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) consulting & coaching business in just six months. For the past year or so, I've been building my own business, specializing in DEI and career coaching for professionals of color. My clients come from a variety of industries (e.g. tech, food & beverage, non-profit, art, fashion, recruiting, etc.) and organizational sizes and structures.
As a Black woman working in DEI, and as a person who has been helping bridge cultural divides since childhood, I have a really unique perspective to offer. My hope is that this channel helps inspire others who are interested in starting a consulting business, to stop overthinking and just launch the thing!
This is a 3-part series that covers:
    Part 1: Background on me - • Part 1: How I Started ...
    Part 2: 7 Things I did BEFORE launching my consulting business - • Part 2: How I Started ...
Part 3: How I started generating revenue and attracting clients - Coming Soon!

I am interested in getting into this DEI. I think as a woman of color in the transportation industry we need this. I want to make a difference in making companies to be held accountable for what goes on.

This was really insightful. Something that may slip by others is when you mentioned reaching out to your CURRENT network to see what new leads you could discover.
In the past, I’ve defiantly “jumped the shark” and started networking with only new people.
    Thanks for the video!

Yes, networking is so so important--with both new and existing connections. Thanks for watching!

Hi Adriele! I'm just starting out and I love this series of videos. The second one, identifying your weakness, really struck a chord with me. I've been able to articulate my strengths but having to sit and think about where I struggle is super helpful! And yes to the therapy 😭 a necessary investment

I am currently on the market to get into DEI. When I went into research my heart lightbulb just lit up. I work in communications and recruitment and I have a Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology, any advice?

Hey Nichelle! That's great! Comms, recruiting, AND org psych? It sounds like you've got the golden ticket. My advice to folks is always to learn/read as much as you can and stay up to date on DEI trends. And most importantly, is to get hands-on experience. If you can find a way to contribute just 1 hour a week to DEI efforts within your current org/workplace, it can be a great start. With a comms and recruitment background, you have a leg up for getting a DEI role (I started off in tech recruiting and moved into DEI from there). Happy to chat if you that's at all helpful.
