Coaching v Consulting - a coach is one that asks the pertinent questions at the right time in the right order to facilitate the clients journey towards their goals. To be a great coach you listen carefully and applying a critical analysis approach you prompt the client to ask themselves the right question and reach for themselves for the answers. As a consultant you use your knowledge, skills, and experience to provide your client with the solutions that they need for their business to solve a particular problem or realise improved performance. With the coaching role it is primarily questioning skills that are required and can be learnt (hence a person of any adult age can coach). Whereas a person who wants to be a consultant MUST be able to provide the solution for the business client, that's why many consultants are paid more than coaches IMHO :)
Nice explanation. I would tend to agree. When people hire me to fix a problem, they are paying for my 50 years in the industry, knowledge gained from fixing the exact same problem hundreds of times, and access to my team of specialists. They are paying for a result.......faster than they could do themselves.
"I've always been passionate about helping others, and after volunteering at a food bank and joining a job club to look for work, I discovered that I'm really good at supporting people with their job searches. It was during this time that I was advised to pursue a career as a life coach, dyslexia specialist, and to work in sales. As someone who has dyslexia myself, I feel that I can relate to others in a meaningful way and make a real difference. I also want to incorporate technology to support the dyslexic community, as I believe it can be a huge advantage for them. I’m excited about the possibility of opening my own consulting company and helping others with similar challenges."
Thanks for that, Rob! Very interesting as was the first one I watched where you gave out advice regarding cash management. Lovin it and I will now watch your vid on Marketing. However, before I go on I'd just like to say a word about marketing. I'm interested in working with start-ups and nurturing them to scale up and transitioning past the three chasms they may well face. Given that I have solutions learnt from my own experience and self directed research I feel I need to learn more on how to engage with people who need my service. Now you mention product range and I think that maybe a way to engage with them initially by offering a 'free' initial business analysis that will show them where they are at the present time and then prompt them as to clarifying where they wish to go as a goal or set of goals. Simply thinking and writing as a stream of consciousness. It's important for me to clarify this for myself as I don't want to waste my ad spend.

Hi, I have 30 years experience in business and worked as a GM for almost the last 10 years. I recently got an executive MBA online degree from an American business school. Due to economic status and my age is 53 yrs, I have difficulties to find a job, so do you think I can start my consulting business? , given that I live in Egypt and I can serve GCC booming markets. Besides my education degrees, I have good soft skills and communication skills.
@@ConsultingBusinessSchool But the question is how I start to let clients hire me and how I position my self as a business consultant in the consulting market with my experience and knowledge ?
@@ConsultingBusinessSchool Thanks a lot. I have one concern regarding existing clients. Previous employers mighty see ex-employees as only employees and sometimes they need fresh air in the room to bring new insights and thoughts to their companies. In some other cases, relationship with previous employers are not very well.
Thanks a lot for the great advice. This is really important for us new startup consultants. I have two questions though. How to price my services in a competitive space particularly when I am just starting. Is it advisable to approach my former employer to offer consulting services to them when I left on a good record?
1. If you are confident in your ability, and know you can offer real value to your client, do not under price your services. 2. A former employer might be a good place to start.

What is the software that you use to provide analyses for clients?
We use a broad range of tools. from spreadsheets and databases, to tools like Power BI and then specialised modelling tools that might cost $100,000.
Thanks sir❤

Thank you. This is very insightful. I wanna know where relationship building is placed on the diagram.
Relationship building is the foundation of good consulting.

Always a challenge for consultants. Often the client doesn't want to pay for implementation support.
Very informative info. Just a little annoyed of him popping his lips as he talks. Sorry! Great info though!
I will try not to!! ☹
