So beautiful you two! ❤ I LOVED that statue and especially the butterflies. But your story was so emotional and so true! I wish every person understood this and realize migration is what built many countries to what they are today.
Thank you for focusing attention on the plight of migrants and taking the opportunity to draw parallels between their struggle and the migration of monarchs. The situation should be seen with a compassionate lens. Visiting the monarchs has definitely been on my bucket list for a while! I almost went in December but instead did trip #6 to Oaxaca for Xmas. I love Mexico and your videos add to my appreciation of all the country has to offer!
I was not ready for the waterworks from this video. Sending you a big hug Kevin. So glad you got to experience this beautiful destination as well. Love you both so much! Please don't stop sharing your stories and experiences. Thank you for you passion in these videos and dedication.
🦋🦋Years ago I had a part-time job and got off of work at 1 p.m. Driving home one day there were Monarchs flying down the road I was driving, they seemed to be everywhere, it was breathtaking. I can only imagine what it is like where you were! It's bad enough that Kevin's story got me emotional, but the sculpture at the end had me in tears. Angangueo is truly magical for more than one reason, thank you for sharing this emotionally wonderful experience! 🦋🦋
Hey Jenny and Kevin. Me gustan muchos sus vídeos. Yall vídeos are fun and are different from all the UA-camrs that post videos about Mexico. You guys have become my favorite UA-camrs. Saludos.
Wow... so emotional! All of it. I've been to see the monarchs, it's amazing and moving. I cried. I'm also married to a Mexican immigrant who came to the US when he was 15. That sculpture is SO touching. Sending you both love and light as you continue to discover your heritage in that wonderful country!
My family is from San Francisco Epungio, close to where this was recorded. Like the butterflies, I made my way to Michigan in 1997. Thank you for telling our story. God bless.
After this experience my appreciation for these butterflies totally skyrocketed! Beautiful creatures. And the educator in you sees all there is to learn, I love it 🥰
There is so much to see in Mexico. I hadn't thought about the butterfly sanctuary, but you put it on my list. Mucho amor.❤
Thank you for appreciating one of our dearest video projects ♥️ me alegra mucho que se sientan en casa en Veracruz ☺️ sigue pendiente un cafecito juntos!
Awww you guys…besides the horses, pobrecitos….this video made me tear up…the butterflies, the flags, the sculpture de la “frontera”, families separated, immigrants….thank you! 🇲🇽 Being an immigrant myself, my parents moved us to the US when I was 13. I’m only a DACA recipient and had never been able to go back to Mexico in almost 28 years until last summer when I was granted an Advance Parole to be able to go see my last grandparent I had left 😭, then he passed last January. In about 3 years, after having lived in the States for about 31 years, my husband, my girls and I are planning on moving to México. I am done with the unfairness we are treated here. I’m grateful for everything this country has given me, although, nothing has been “free or gifted”, I’m just ready to go back to my country where I will no longer feel like an outsider, like an “alien” as we are called here (and many foreigners in Mexico call themselves Expats? They are immigrants too!). I will be in my homeland, my heart belongs there. 💚🤍❤️ Gracias por este video que provocó tantas emociones en mi. Saludos chicos!
🥺the immigrant life is NOT easy when it comes to situations like yours, which we’re super familiar with. I’m glad you got to see your grandparent one last time 🕊️ The American dream they sold our parents decades ago is not the same today. Being able to choose your home is a privilege and I hope the move brings you quality of life ❤️ have you decided where in Mexico you’ll be moving to?
@@EatBailaTravel Yes, the American dream is definitely not the same today and having had the opportunity to go back to Mexico last summer gave me the reassurance to want to move back 100%. We still don't know where, a lot depends on the job my husband gets with his recent PhD, in fact, before you stopped working for UNAM, my husband had sent you a message through Linkedin to ask you some questions....If I am able to get another Advance Parole, I will go back again this summer and I want to go to Yucatán...I've heard it's very pretty there pero no sé si el calor lo pueda soportar! lol.....We have thought about Querétaro as well but we don't know for sure......I love watching your videos because I feel like they give me more of a feeling of México and the different places you've been to give me more of an idea. Last summer I was there for two months and traveled through 11 different states.....we have also considered Puebla.....we will see....meanwhile, we continue planning, saving and waiting, which is the hardest part for me.......vamos a ver.....saludos chicos!

Wow y guau! My husband recently returned to his home in Michoacán to stay and I with him. We love it here. Thank you for this amazing video. You touched us on so many levels: migration, oneness of humanity, care for our planet, beauty.🙏🏼🙏🏽🦋
Kevin and Jenny, Thank you for creating this video! I grew up against the San Bernardino mtns, where I discovered a small rock-creek canyon. I was drawn there often for its beauty and during one of my visits there, I encountered an area covered in Monarch Butterflies! Now I realize that they must have been only one of the several generations enroute to one of their homes in Mexico. They know no borders! In a cosmic way, via these creatures, and many years, we again have made a form of contact! Happy trails, Kevin and Jenny!
🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋this has been on my bucket list since I moved to Mexico (almost 2 yrs ago)...I'm an immigrant from Guatemala...to El Salvador to USA and now in Mexico. Hey Glo! This experience is especially emotional for immigrants and immigrant families ❤ You will love it. Thanks for your comment. Te deseamos linda semana!
We visited the butterflies in Sierra Chincua last month. It truly was a spiritual and memorable experience. The te de Monte was my BFF. Thank God we picked up the travel guide on the fork of the road where you go one way towards the Sierra Chincua and the other towards “El Rosario”. Driving through those mountains was no joke and we lost reception along the way! Great video 🦋 🦋 🦋
That was the other sanctuary we thought about going to! How was that hike? I bought a big bunch of the de monte to take home it’s delicious. Great to hear from others who’ve been! We’re so lucky to have experienced this 🥹🦋✨
The hike was very rustic (dirt road) and had two scenic spots along the way. Rode the horses on the way down so we can ride to one of the scenic routes. Both were amazing as they were the perfect outlook of the mountains.
The Mariposa Monarch butterfly preserve is amazing. Hiking up your at about 11,000 feet at the top. It is an amazing experience.By the way Tlalpujahua during Christmas time is also amazing. -Marc🦋
For real I hadn’t thought about the final altitude we reached because the drive from Angangueo was all incline, plus the hike… wow we were up there! Can’t wait to return to Tlalpujahua close to Christmas time 🥰
Like always great job on the story telling. A bit jealous on this one as going to a Santuario de Mariposas Monarcas is one of my top places to go visit.
That was an awesome video. The hike looked like it was hard at that altitude, but it made me want to do it. I loved the respectful hushed narration around the butterflies. Connecting it all to immigration and the monument at the end made this very special.
Hey Chris! The hike was hard but so physically and mentally rewarding ❤️ and I’m really glad you appreciated the hushed narration because that whispering turned out to be a lot of audio correction work during editing 😅 hours and hours of of hard work pay off when it’s appreciated so thank you!! 🥹❤️lol

This was filmed last Sunday so February 25th. We know they start migrating back to USA in March. So we think January-February should be good times to visit
Many of those butterflies will end up here in my Part of Canada very soon but sadly its crazy you post this video when you did. 2 days ago the Canadian government bowed to US pressure and now require Mexicans to have a Temporary Resident Visa to enter the country. The number of Mexicans trying to cross to the US after coming to Canada is so small this will cost all 3 countries more than its worth. Just be kind to each other and enjoy what everyone brings to the table.
Wow. So many power-plays and not enough actually effective solutions 😔 crazy. I didn’t know about that. Thanks for sharing
