Most definitely one of the best versions of Happiest Days/Brick pt2 I've heard from a live concert. The bass is perfect volume and eq, the vocals are great, however I do wish the guitar was louder during the chorus and verses
I completely agree. Especially Andy Roberts' guitar solo (the second guitar solo after Gilmour's). And the organ on What Shall We Do Now (the bit after Empty Spaces) is beautiful as well.
@@ThomasHinde123 Only just saw this. I can play each song nearly perfect (and I have the tones for them) but only issue is I don't got a good mic or cam. So I make do with what I have, my phone 2k cam, my old phone for the audio and my pc for the dubs and edits to make it sync right
Two Drummers for the most part of the show. They're perfectly in sync with each other, gives a great big sound. And they just had fantastic PA speakers, sound techs etc
Thank you so much for uploading this. I was lucky enough to be there one night in 1980 and again one night in 81. The quality of this recording is immense and brings it all flooding back. Thanks again.
Great to hear this gig 5:17 again, I was there with my fiancée at the time her first ever Floyd experience, was also at the 1980 gig with a mate of mine
Question idk if you will see this but on Is there anybody out there 80-81 for empty spaces Roger has some type of modified voice did the lives actually not have that?
Hi Jesse, the audience recording of the night Empty Spaces was recorded can be found here (not my channel) ua-cam.com/video/9WuFZlop73I/v-deo.html. Unfortunately it's difficult to tell what effects are on his voice in that because the quality isn't perfect, but I suspect you're right, the delay effects were probably added by James Guthrie when he mixed the album.
Does anyone know if there were backing musicians at this show? It sounds like at least one backing female singer and also a couple of times it sounded like a proper violin instead of Rick's synth strings... Also, I wonder if there's a percussionist or if it's all Nick...
A lot of the string sounds and some of the percussion (like in Bring the Boys Back Home) are from playback (pre-recorded) from the tapes used on the album. As most of the show was played to a click track (like a metronome), this could easily be done as the musicians wouldn't go out of time with the backing track. Also, there was a second drummer, Willie Wilson, who played some of the percussion parts, for example at the end of Brick 1.
@@diegom.2026 No. It isn't. I've researched these shows for an absolutely long time. It's not chorus. His main effects for the tour were compression, flanger, and his distortion
Its his Yamaha ra 200 with a alembic preamp mixed with the electric mistress flanger going in to his hiwatt set up. Creating a very liquidy swirl you hear throughout the show.
@@ThomasHinde123 were all waiting for roger waters to release the full concert that was shot in 35mm footage which can be tranferred to 4K and HD. I'm not making this up. He has said in many interviews he has the tapes in locked in storage somewhere. Unfortunatly we wont see the full concert in 35mm until he dies. Thats my only guess.

Roger's whistle rant is the highlight of the show!
where is that? because he didnt notice the other stuff in past wall shows
Actually, it sounded like Dave initially...
Roger hates whistling because it interferes with his pitch
I had a fear that Roger would shout at them as he did in Quebec 1977.

The sound quality of this look a like from soundboard, amazing, thank you

The drums sound extreamlty raw. No Hardly any mixing on the drums . Nice and deep . i love it like that !

loved when Roger still had the vocals to handle all the manic parts...legendary uniqueness to his vocals
the keyboard solo on Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 is awesome.
I was sat front block center stage for this gig.
Let me tell you, no PA system has ever come close to this one.

Si sad that we can’t see the video live of this great performance 😌
oh?
Roger has 11 hours of 70mm footage from these concerts. Someone raid his vault!
We have a few minutes of 8mm footage from this night.

Run like hell’s riff is exactly at 100% as in the record.

Yes there were other musicians including snowy white, i was there and also in 1980 awsome shows & I'll never forget
All the backing vocal singers on the The Wall tour were men.
Was this the last 4 man Floyd concert until 2005?
Penultimate. There was a show the next day, June 17 1981 which was the last 'full length' four man Floyd concert.

If this has too much fuzz, then don't go much further into audience recordings, you won't get much cleaner than this...
