  • [Recorded March 2024] Today is the final day of operation for the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. This is one of the oldest remaining hotels on The Strip, but time has run out as it will be demolished later this year to make way for a new stadium. I was able to see this property one last time before it closes. Enjoy this video that I put together that includes photos, walkthroughs, and final rides on the elevators. RIP Tropicana 1957-2024.

Security needs to be fired asap smh 💀💀 they really don’t have anything better to do than to bash a couple of elevator enthusiasts for filming when this resort is LITERALLY closing soon and you’re trying to admire the resort for probably the last time. I can’t with security, they need to be better trained and if not they should just get the boot

wow, that motor wind up on 2:22!
I saw about this on the news the other day, that they were closing. Shame I never got to see it in person - I love the mid-century architecture that's quickly fading from the aesthetic of this country. Thank you so much for documenting this wonderful place for posterity.

I would have asked for the General Manager. I thought only the General Manager or Owner could trespass someone. Guess not. I get that it's private property but the place is being destroyed and I really wish I could have visited but I never got to go to Las Vegas. Rest in Pieces Tropicana. 1957-2024. You looked so awesome and you will be missed.

They literally trespassed onto resort property and wandered around recording. It isn't the biggest deal in the world though when they (understandably) got kicked out. They proceeded to have an attitude instead of just apologize. Security was in the right for sure and did their job.

This whole encounter is bizarre. I had absolutely no issues when I was here. But then again just probably finding any reason to take it out on somebody since they are all losing their jobs. This is probably the only dumpier casino on the strip I even bothered filming at. Forget Circus Circus...I could only imagine how miserable and nasty the security must be in there lol. The experience here would have been a country club compared to Circus Circus

I remember staying at this hotel when I was 4 and we were visiting some family nearby. My dad later stayed here by himself in '07 and I remember asking him to take pictures of the elevators (this was before the mod), which he did. Sad to see the Tropicana go, but I suppose it's not surprising.

3:02 I remember walking down this hallway on my last visit. This seems to be the one public area of the property that didn't get renovated and definitely has a different atmosphere.
I had my own encounter with security here (during my first visit before the pandemic). I was on the way to the low-rise building, as I wanted to see if it had an elevator. A security guard approached me and I think they asked if I was filming. I told them that I was filming videos of the elevators as they are an interest of mine. They wanted to review the footage to see if I had filmed the casino floor, and after they had seen that I didn't, there was no issue. If I had filmed the casino floor from the glass elevator, it's possible they would have asked me to delete the footage though I don't think they would have told me to leave the property (maybe if I refused to delete the footage). The one strange thing is that I asked the security guard if the back building had an elevator and they said it didn't (even though I now know it does, thankfully I was able to ride it when I revisited in 2023).
