Thank you soooooo much for this video! I have been messing with my new audio recorder and my mic placement for weeks, wondering why I am getting such horrible crackling audio! You were the only person to bring to my attention, how bad my mic actually is. I had no idea it was my mics fault, I thought it was my voice or my set up or my gain level settings I had changed one million times. This is a great video and deserves way more attention! Happy riding :)
Very much appreciated man, got a new set up and I’ve been struggling so hard to keep my microphone from peaking. Sounds like I may need a microphone update
Man….that’s thorough! I’m working some audio problems now with a hero 5 with a brick. I’ve been using a hero3 with a Xbox mic…plugged it into the brick on the 5…cracking, popping and peaking. Not ready to drop that much coin on audio…yet…so gonna try a few other options. Great explanation…thanks!
Awesome work brother. I am very pleased with my newest setup which is rode lavalier ii into a Tascam dr05. My next few videos are with the gain set just a bit too high but I have since dialed it in.
I'm currently using the Troys omnidirectional mic. Best one I've used so far. But that Sennheiser sounds fantastic!! But the price certainly isn't fantastic!! 😂. That might be a much later purchase for me. You did a really good job with this video man! Very professional and everything broken down really well!! Nice!!
Thanks KG! I have only tried a few of what the market has to offer, but wanted to put out as much meaningful information as possible without being overwhelming or underwhelming. The Sennheiser is really good, and I bought it strictly out of frustration from losing so many clips to bad audio. The Tascam was a solid 2nd though and made many videos for me across a couple of channels I work with.
Good information! I am using a Purple Panda run into my Hero 10 media mod at the moment and have recently started getting little pops of static. Time to upgrade but not sure I am ready for a $300 mic. haha Great job!
Thanks for watching! Yeah, the 300 dollar mic is a bit overkill honestly. Hopefully the numbers on each mic can help you pick another suitable upgrade 👍

Absolutely! Mainly meant to be informative, but the cost can be daunting if you dive in too deep.

Awesome, I'll check those out for sure.
Thanks for watching!
Very good video buddy ! One of the best audio videos I’ve seen so far. Well done 👍
Thanks!
I hope it helps people understand what they are up against with in helmet recording, and how to achieve good quality audio.
@@Skipshift After 1.5 years motovlogging I can say that “mastering” audio is the hardest part of it.
