Do we need to use the Endurance blades with this upgrade? And what are endurance blades anyway? I presume they last longer somehow.

Interesting comment about 3 to 5 blade recommendation. Correct me if I’m wrong. 1 blade's serviceable life is Y hours, which is in accordance with the amount of grass 1 blade can cut. Therefore wouldn’t the service time of the blades be increased? 3 x Y=3Y vs 5 x Y=5Y

Depends on the type of grass and the conditions. In our area blades don't last as long in the spring because the grass is thicker and usually wetter due to all the rain. In the summer it gets dryer and we can have a few weeks without a decent rain. During the dry time the blades last longer.

Why not just get someone to make longer blades

The smaller skid plate flexes less than a large one. So with longer blades and the original larger skid plate there's more tendency for the skid plate to flex and rub the blade screw heads.
