    More than one way to skin a cat. Water hose and ears for me. Worked for 25 years fine. I asked my mechanic how long to flush and he said till you cant taste salt coming out pee hole. That don’t take very long.

      Kenneth Broadwell The newer large Yamaha's have two sets of water pick ups on the lower unit and ears won't work unless you tape off the front ones. Even then many people won't have enough water flow for a good flush off a hose. Those are the motors this video was really made for. Believe me, I'd use the hose too for these If I could but it won't do it worth a crap. I'm sure Yamaha would love to sell replacement engines as soon as they can after the warranty s out. :-)

    Where did you get that tub? Did you put the drain valve in it?

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  2 місяці тому

      @judybernsennichols6458 Tractor Supply. It's a 100gallon water tub and the capped drain comes with it. Haven't found a better way to flush them yet and will never go back to a hose.

    so its been a year since you posted this video? How is it going? i use the flush port as specified in the yamaha manual. flush for 15 minutes and dont turn it on. been doing this for about 6 months however it keeps me up at night sometime thinking they arent getting clean enough.

      @axebeard7677 they are doing great. Now I think it's easier to flush them too than muffs. I don't think I'd ever go back. If you need anything for your boat, check out PartsVu too! They have great pricing too and are a great resource for all your maintenance stuff. Check them out here: shrsl.com/417hf

    LOL “Hit that sub button.”
    Do you do this every return trip even if going out next day? Also, do you long term (week+) store motor tilt up/flat/ slight up?

      Teach a Man to Fish this being a bit of a process, I'lll go two or even 3 days in a row, but then I flush them very well with extra desalt. I store with motors down. :-)

    I use limescale remover from the supermarket

    • @scottnra
      @scottnra  9 місяців тому +1

      @AllanO808 I don't think that's a great idea. Those things are harsh acidic chemicals that could eat away at the aluminum. You are not going to get limescale from fresh or salt water. You just need to be able to flush out any salt or foreign matter and the Boat flushing stuff leaves a protective coating on internal waterways. a gallon of this stuff lasts us most of the year and we go a lot more than most. refer.link/sSjS

    In Germany there would be trouble because of all the soapy water, it's the same as environmental pollution

    • @scottnra

      Yacht Cleaner Thankfully, I'm not in Germany. Plus it's an environmentally friendly product, biodegradable and won't hurt a thing. Plus, How can Germany talk about "pollution" anything when most of you guys are going to be stuck burning wood for heat all winter after becoming dependent on foreign/Russian Natural gas?
