    Holy crap, dude! At 5:22 you pass through a suburb of Mexico City called "Ciudad Satélite" (Satellite City). Of _all_ the places you could've chosen to show, you showed those "Towers of Satélite" in northern Mexico City near the area where I grew up (those "towers" are actually rainwater reservoirs)! They're somewhat famous among Mexico City residents, but not to the point that all people from Mexico City have seen them -- in fact, I would say that only around a third of people that have lived in Mexico City have visited that place, as there's not really much to do there unless you live nearby.
    I'm flipping out about this because of the ten million things you can see when you travel to Mexico City you chose to show that particular spot, which would be the Mexico City equivalent of saying that you went through some back road that took you through a tiny, middle-of-nowhere rural town in the US where one of your viewers happens to be from. Man, probably not even travel vloggers that have visited Mexico City have taken footage of those towers. I'm blown away!
    Ciudad Satélite is a suburb that was built from the 1960s through the 1980s to support a growing population of Mexico City residents that wanted a nicer, bigger house at an affordable price, compared to Mexico City itself -- and then grew over the years until making itself one of the main residential areas in northwestern-metropolitan area Mexico City for middle- to upper-income residents. People would then commute through the "Periférico Boulevard Miguel Ávila Camacho" road, which you took all the way from south to north of the city (it kinda does a loop). Those towers were designed by a famous Mexican Modernist architect called Luis Barragán (and Mexican sculptor Mathias Goeritz), and represented the "modern" future that Ciudad Satélite was advertised as in the second half of the 20th century. You probably saw that there's an overhead road on top of Periférico, which people refer to as "segundo piso" (second floor) -- well, maybe you also noticed that it goes back to road level when it goes through the towers, as Satélite residents didn't want their scupltures interrupted by an ugly elevated highway.
    Safe travels. Hope you had a great time in Mexico, and that you visit again soon! Cheers from Houston, TX!

    How safe is Mexico? I am planning a motorcycle trip from US to Patagonia next year. Should I be concerned. Heard lots of Horror stories about Mexico and South America. Most are trying to stop me to do the trip. Any help would be appreciated. Thank in advance.

      That’s kind of a loaded question. I’ll do my best to answer. Generally people are not going to mess with tourists on a motorcycle. There are definitely exceptions though, and things seem to be getting more unstable… I think you’ll be fine if don’t ride at night. Just be aware, there’s always a risk. More than violence, I’m usually worried about other drivers.

      Mexico City is a total PITA traffic wise. As far as danger-wise, you're probably good pretty much anywhere as long as you stick to the downtown areas, they'll usually heavily guarded. I don't advise riding at night, and would avoid certain parts of Cancun. Which part of Canada are you leaving from?

    Dig the way you're allowed to park inside the hotels. Is this a common practice?

    • @dirtymotorcyclevagabond
      @dirtymotorcyclevagabond  2 роки тому

      Depends on the layout of the hotel. At the very least, most of 'em have a gate they lock at night. I've been in some crazy subterranean dungeons where I've had to ride down a steep a@# ramp to the bowels of the hotel. Pretty common.
