      Me as well. I caught so many things I didn't realize when I was a kid and it's great seeing it again. Hard to believe it's just 2 left. I hope it gets an X-Men '97 style comeback but I won't hold my breath for that😅

    Funny thing is Molten Man is what Sandman was SUPPOSED to be. The heat abilities are something that was not expected in the experiment, a happy accident.
    Also can we talk about how much of a snake Miles Warren is? This incarnation made me actually want to see the clone saga. Curt Connors only became the Lizard one time and it still finds a way to ruin his life.

      I wish they had turned him into the Jackal. I’m sure that was part of the plan for season 3.

    I've always found this episode to have an interesting story-telling method with the back-and-forth perspectives. Also rip Mark just having the absolute worst day and one of the most reasonable reactions to getting those kinda powers.

    Green Goblin always had the ability to shoot fiery bolts of energy from his hands in the comics and he did the same in Spider-Man The Animated Series also.

    I think the wall plaque joke was an Easter egg to that Electric Company short. It was a baseball game and Spiderman had to fight The Wall.

    Molten Man isn't a common sight in Spidey media, originally a chemical accident victim with no connection to Liz Allen. Goblin returning to the create-a-supervillain-of-the-day formula that Tombstone employed, this time with Miles Warren in the role of Dr. Octopus.

    I’ve said it before, but the way the incorporate theatre into the last part of this season is so dope. Super clever way to demonstrate how tragic Mark/ Liz’s story is in that final scene

    Man this show really gives me similar vibes to the Ultimate Spider-man comic run and that alone makes me love it so much. This show is the best spider-man has ever been outside of the comics in my opinion.

    This Goblin would absolutely be made using prosthetics on the face in live action, but would actually be a mask in universe like the show.

  • @Mansplainer2099-jy8ps
    @Mansplainer2099-jy8ps 4 дні тому +12

    Green Goblin shot things from his fingers from the beginning but they were more sparkly (so you could imagine Spidey taking one to the face and it would just hurt and maybe set his mask on fire) before they became basically lasers.

    • @Marsh388
      @Marsh388 4 дні тому +8

      The sparkle blasts are something from comics Gobby has had forever, but outside of this show you don’t see it often. We need justice for the sonic toads

    I felt bad for Mark throughout the whole episode, especially because the Goblin, Warren and Gaxton using him by transforming him into Molten Man is just cruel. And Warren blackmailing Dr. Connors is madness!

      Most of the series is based around addiction and/or obsession, whether it be an obsession with power or money, or even personal importance.

    So Mark Allan and Liz Allan are basically both fusions between their comic counterparts and Betty and Bennett Brant, Peter's first girlfriend and her brother. Betty in this is already JJJ's secretary and 20, but there is kind of a nod to her being Peter's first girlfriend (like Liz is here) when she is the first one he tries asking out.
    Bennett Brant was Betty's semi-criminal, gambling brother who was involved with the comic version of Blacky Gaxton and got into trouble with Spider-Man as a result. Don't remember all the details but he was significantly more criminal than Mark is here.
    Mark Allan in the comics was called Mark Raxton. He was a scientist and the step-brother of Liz, who actually became the Molten Man entirely through his own experiments. In the comics he is mostly a metal man, the heat is a secondary part of his powerset that is often not really that emphasised. Mark Allan in the comics was also always adult and was just generally kind of a scumbag. He went from "I can use this for crime" to "wait, I'm stuck like this?" and then kind of pin-ponged between just a greedy douche and a more tragic character. He mellowed down during the 80s.
    In the same era of comics, Liz actually got together with Harry and they married and even had a son, Normie. I kind of wonder if Harry relating to Mark's addictions might be kind of a sort of set-up for him later having something to bond over with Liz? Molten Man was at first some sort of brutal violent hateful enemy of theirs, until writers decided to give him a redemption arc and make him essentially just a normal reformed guy that just so happens to be made of metal. So you'd get conversations like:
    "Hi, I'm Mark, I'm Liz's brother."
    "Y-y-you are the Molten Man!!!"
    "Oh. Yeah that too."
    Molten Man then even had some sort of anti-hero story arcs, mostly when Liz and Normie were in danger, which meant that Molten Man would have to work with Spider-Man to stop them. For example, when Harry kidnapped his family after becoming the Green Goblin, or later when Liz inherited Oscorp and found out about its ties to the Clone Saga shenaningans.
    Speaking of the Clone Saga, I think it seems like the show wanted to do the Jackal but connect him more with the animal-DNA stuff than any cloning. At least it really seems like Miles Warren would have become an actual Jackal-person, what with his connections to Lizard and this weird version of Puma/Kraven. In the original 70s comics he was just a weird old guy that seemed borderline senile, had an annoying villain personality and just sicced other villains on Spider-Man for a while (including the Punisher, their first appearance was actually in the same comic). He actually just wore a green costume with a weird mask. Then in the 90s, he apparently turned out to be alive, but his redesign looked very, very different. He had rejuvenated in a cloning tank apparently, and came out looking a bit like the Joker with black hair and light green skin, wearing a black trench-coat, constantly cracking really bad jokes. You know the Clone Saga is bad when the main villain (of its first half at least) is introduced laughing about how he was doing nothing but watching Playboy channel in the clone tank for 5 years. That comic, Smokes and Mirrors, is still the worst Spider-Man comic ever in my opinion. No wonder the show seemed headed in a kinda different direction with Jackal.
    Also, I don't remember if it was this or one of the previous episodes, but this show also had Miles' assistant be Debora Whitman, who just brushes off Peter and Gwen in a really rude way. Which is really weird. In the comics Deborah was this hysterical, hyper-nervous co-student of Peter in college that worked with him as a teaching assistent. For what must have been three years of real-life time, she kind of was in a relationship with him, that Peter was not only very much not invested in, but also basically had to screw her over every issue by blowing off dates to fight crime, and every time she would just have a mini-nervous breakdown about whether Peter likes her or not afterwards. It was kind of annoying. Eventually she finds out he is Spider-Man, but then Peter more or less accidentally gaslights her into thinking she is insane for having halucinated Peter as Spider-Man (though her psychiatrist is mostly to blame in the comic), and then when Peter reveals himself to her to reassure her that she is sane, she "snaps out of the delusion" and refuses to believe him. Then she just leaves the comic to "recuperate" from all of this. The weirdest part was that the last comic also explained her nervousness with her being a former victim of domestic abuse, and that she seems "attracted to people that mistreat" her - basically implying that Peter disregarding her feelings and making her feel like garbage (by prioritising his "Spider-duties" over his "kind-of-in-a-relationship-but-not-really-"duties) is why she was attracted to him in the first place. Deborah Whitman was weird.

But low-key blind wave reacting and getting even more fans involved kind of brought us young justice back..? Almong with more of its most recent stuff 🤷🏾‍♂️(kinda joking but also…not?)

    I feel so bad for Mark he try to protect her sister Liz, and Mary Jane he try to not hurt people Mark is not a bad guy after all I hate Norman the Green Goblin he wants more villains to kill Spider Man, and he is the worse father ever Norman hurt Harry’s leg, Molter Man is a villain but also he is a anti hero too in the comics I remember when Mark team up with Spider Man, and he Meets Harry, and his Normie, and I think Harry, and Liz should be a cute couple together because Peter with Liz Gwen is always a jealous girl all the time, and Peter is a worse boyfriend with Liz, and Gwen in the comics Harry, and Liz are married, and they have a child called Normie that’s why I prefer Peter with Mary Jane, and Harry with Liz, and Gwen I don’t know probably in friendzoned because nobody likes her Gwen is the worse girlfriend ever not gonna lie honestly, 2 episodes left I don’t want the show ends like this I want more seasons but Disney ruined everything they cancelled the show I miss the show so much is my favorite show, by the way I’m a Marvel fans, I love The Spectacular Spider Man, and I love your videos you guys 🥰🥰😘.
