Can't believe this is the last flash vid...hard to believe it's been so long since the beginning of flash/arrow. cheers ross and everyone else!
This was excellent. I think you hit a basically perfect balance of critical insight with genuine appreciation for all the show has been to you over time and the hard work of the people who made it. Bravo.
I’m surprised we didn’t see Barry embarrass the reverse flash, since that’s what apparently started the animosity. Oh well, add it to the pile of interesting ideas no CW writer would touch 🤣
Eddie Thawne coming back to life and becoming the Negative Speed Force avatar closes the loop from Season 1 where Eddie kills himself to prevent Eobard from being born. With Eddie dead there would have been no OG Eobard, so they had to close that loop.
01:05:17 OK there is context that explains the existence of this episode and I honestly can't tell if it's a good good explanation. TL;DR: This episode is a piece of marketing for comics written by the actress. So the character of Nia Nal AKA Dreamer is entirely original to the Supergirl show (I think there was a version of that character in the comics already but they're only related in that they have dream powers so who cares). When DC started releasing their pride comics, Dreamer's actress, Nicole Maines wrote several stories in them about Dreamer (Nicole Marines is a trans woman). After the success of the pride comics, as well as her wanting to write more comics anyway, DC allowed Maines to write several comics and even had a version of Dreamer based on her character appear in several comics. This all culminated in Maines writing an entirely original comic about Dreamer that released near this episode. So this entire episode is presumably a thinly veiled piece of marketing for this comic, DC Pride, and various other projects.
Sometimes the mythological UA-cam algorithm just knows. Yesterday it decided to randomly recommend me your season 8 video which I decided to watch again. Lo’ and behold - today you upload the finale! I’m glad I believed in the impossible!
Gotta "Love" how they spend majority of s9 saying "SHES NOT CAITLIN! SHES NOT CAITLIN!", only for the "payoff' at the end to be "Great job Not-Catlin, now you get to be Caitlin again". Like what the actual fuck.
I saw Tom Cavanagh, Danielle Panabaker and Carlos Valdes at Montreal Comic Con last summer, and honestly, Tom was amazing, apparently he grew up in a city located like 40 minutes away from where I live and he is truly bilingual, so it's not just a few french lines he was taught for the show. Carlos was exhausted, apparently, they had been travelling through South America before this and he didn't get much sleep or rest, so during the panel, he decided to take a nap instead of answering questions. I went in to ask a question while I was wearing my Flash cosplay. The guy working for the Comic Con on stage basically said "Hey look everyone we have Grant Gustin over here" while pointing at me since I was the only Flash cosplay in there. Then I said the meme line "This house is bitchin" and nobody got the reference, not even Carlos, my guess is they just learn the lines without remembering the overall plot. The meme made many people in the audience laugh though as they have probably seen the show many many times over the past 9 years so they understand every reference while the cast don't. What I learned is that the cast of a show are just doing their job, even the customer service aspect of being nice at Q&A panels and at photo ops or autographs, it often feels like it's just an act and it's because it often is. But Tom Cavanagh was really passionate and it didn't feel fake, or maybe he is just that good of an actor. I would have loved to see Grant but he was on broadway at the time, Tom Cavanagh told me that he and the other cast members visited him just a few weeks before coming to Montreal, and that they loved it, then he said I should really go see him if I have the chance. Another actor I would have really liked to see is Teddy Sears but I guess he was not in enough of the show to follow them along.
42:45, 44:56, 48:30, 49:32 God, Javicia Leslie (New Batwoman) as Red Death. I completely forgot about this. I swear, her acting comes across like she’s auditioning to be a Power Rangers villain. Hell, they should make her the next Rita Repulsa if Power Rangers gets rebooted again.

I came here so I wouldn’t have to watch The Flash, I stayed for you and your vision for these videos. Thanks for the years of content and hopefully more to come.
Season 9 wasn’t helped by the CW cutting the show’s budget by even more halfway through the season. The network also gave 5 fewer episodes than they expected when they were planning the season. Throw in the fact that the only time grant got covid around the time they filmed the finale and that scheduling conflicts prevented Carlos from coming back season 9 definitely wasn’t as good as it could have been. All things considered the last 5 episodes are at least entertaining even if the writing feels rushed. It’s far from the worst final season I have seen and I do appreciate getting Eddie back and seeing the end of the loop that is Barry losing his mother. I came away from the season still liking it more than 4 and 5 and definitely more than 7 and 3 which is not bad. I am glad you posted, I’ve always enjoyed your videos and your critical view while still being able to acknowledge when shows like this get it right:)
Just need to give you your flowers for using the arrow score - returning home/ scars by Blake Neely whilst you were talking about arrow season 8. I’m sure that flew over a lot of peoples head but we see the effort you put in editing !!!
I love Dreamer because it is very rare to get actual trans representation on Primetime television and she was a breath of fresh air in Supergirl's best season (Season 4). I'm glad we got one last bit of Dreamer but it is a shame that 99% of flash viewers have no idea who she is...
Me too, me too ^^. It was the first hero that I actually loved from first sight, I was even celebrating everytime we had a Dreamer solo episode in Supergirl, and stuff 😄... And now that I graduated in film direction, I'm looking forward to direct a DC Elseworlds Dreamer trilogy, keeping Nicole Maines as Nia and creating a full rogue gallery for the character 😁🤗.
@@jadenbryant9283 The only solution I have in mind for this is if a new film industry on the (almost) same scale of Hollywood opens in Canada. I'm already planning with some people in the industry to start something there, so who knows.

27:39 funny, stuff like this is why i still like superhero comics. Dark Multiverse is supposed to be a collection of universes that were all meant to die immediately/way faster than regular universes because everything that could've gone wrong did go wrong in their universes.
The Flash was my childhood. I can honestly say that I never would’ve gotten into superhero shows, movies, or comics without this show. And it broke my heart to see how this show ended. It broke my heart that this show ended, and I didn’t care. I didn’t even watch the last few episodes of the show, not even the one with Wally & Oliver in it. I couldn’t make it past that episode about Becky, not that I have anything against Becky- I just couldn’t watch yet another episode about a character I have no attachment to while Barry and Iris get sidelined. If there’s anything this show taught me, it’s that you aren’t obligated to continue watching a show that you aren’t enjoying anymore. Life’s just too short.
the reason why barry knew who he would give his powers is because in season 8 when he was in the still force meditating he saw the future and he said "MAX' as in max mercury one of the dudes he gave powers too
This show had an idea for 1 season. And afterwards they just killed time until the series finale in season 9 … which you still understand for the most part after watching season 1 and nothing after. (But I still watched every episode of this show on release day.)
Still can't get over the fact that one of Barry's best friends that he's know for almost a decade and has been by his side pretty much the entire time he's been the Flash dies and then like the next day he goes dancing in a fucking nightclub like he doesn't give a shit. And with the Dreamer stuff, she didn't need this storyline, she was already wrapped up perfectly fine at the end of Supergirl. She's actually already gone through a storyline about being insecure about her powers and ability as a hero on Supergirl, tbh to me it felt like she got more stuff to do in that show than Supergirl herself, the writers loved their OCs too much.
15:24 And didn't he enter the show as a creepy stalker and serial killer who framed Killer Frost for his murders? Then she randomly fancied him and after that he was just there for shirtless scenes fangirls drooled over.
I've been watching this show since I was 9, before going to school, now in university. This shit wild. It was enjoyable, the cheese wasn't cheese for me because I was very little so I was just enjoying every second, but even as a kid I felt the beginning of the worsening from the start of S4 since. However I don't regret watching and enjoying this wonderful show, the first season will always give me nostalgia now and I'll probably be rewatching the beginning for years haha!

I ask you because I don't know if you watched the show based on what you have previously said
12:29 Caitlin was one of my favorite characters. To know this is what they did with her makes me so mad
Thank you, honestly this is the end of a journey for me lol. I’m 33. When I was 15 we got the news of a flash tv show and movie. At that time flash was my favorite character….its insane to see what I thought was gonna happen versus what we got over these years. I found your channel around season 7. I was done with the flash until I found your reviews. So I watched the last two seasons. You made the shattering of my nostalgia pretty entertaining lol.
3:12 actually small thing about that device
It’s called a Roemer Accelerator which is a unit of measurement created in the Silver Age, named after Danish astrologist Ole Roemer, it’s how Barry measures his speed
1 Roemer= 186,000MPS…which if you don’t know is just lightspeed
In the comic it appears in Barry goes “Roemer 10)
Waking up to this in my feed was a great surprise, looking forward to diving in.
Just need to give you your flowers for using the arrow score - returning home/ scars by Blake Neely whilst you were talking about arrow season 8. I’m sure that flew over a lot of peoples head but we see the effort you put in editing !!!
Godspeed, the character with the dopest costume and done the dirtiest in the entire Flash series.
3:33 In the later seasons Barry became selfish and treated being The Flash like an inconvenience keeping him away from Iris.
yet another reason why CW flash is inferior to comic book Barry.
At this point I just watch the show through these videos
Same fun to watch people pick apart garbage tv
for the first episode, the vibrations is called phasing. and the phasing of the explosion is normal its happened before
Truly and end of an era...
I watched almost an hour of this without a single ad! Does youtube hate you?
@@RodrickMarsMoon good luck!
Nicole Maines is an incredible woman who is responosble for why my home state is as progressive for trans folks as it is today- she set some of the groundwork for the life and freedoms I have today!
@@jadenbryant9283 There are some states with state level protections that will keep parts of 2025 at bay- my home state of Maine is one of them!
My heart still aches for those in other states though
@@MegumiMary is Ohio and flordia and new jersey one of them.
27:39 funny, stuff like this is why i still like superhero comics. Dark Multiverse is supposed to be a collection of universes that were all meant to die immediately/way faster than regular universes because everything that could've gone wrong did go wrong in their universes.
Season 9 episode 7 is just Season 3 episode 17 but a thriller instead of a musical
All I can say is thanks so much for the past eight years of Arrowverse reviews
I would love to see a collab between Wade Stotts and Ross on stories in tv shows. Would be a great conversation.
I can’t believe I’ve been watching this series for the past 8 years
The Flash was my childhood. Life’s just too short.
the reason why barry knew who he would give his powers is because in season 8 when he was in the still force meditating he saw the future and he said "MAX' as in max mercury one of the dudes he gave powers too
and Max mercury is a major character in the comics.
@@jadenbryant9283 exactly
The remark "Sure" to we are three badass bitches was pure gold. @RossMcIntyre
Avery Ho, Max Mercury and Jess Chambers, all comic speedsters
I'm still wondering and I'll never rewatch this show/shows, did they ever tell Captain Cold's sister that he died saving the universe?
Nope, she vanished from the series as soon as Legends started.
Oh hey, I've been watching your Flash videos lately and am almost caught up. What good timing.
Ive been waiting for this forever
So... next up is a seasonal video for everyone season of House MD? 🤣
Man, we're coming back at around the same time! But hell yeah! I'm excited to watch this!
These are the only videos of yours I’ve seen and I wouldn’t have it any other way 😂
Finally! Ross's Nightmare has Ended!
Haven’t watched the show in year I just come watch these to check in
9:27
Never question the speedforce
I watched a couple episodes of this season but I already find this video more entertaining
why didnt they make eddies return not a slowburn mystery over the season?
In the era of nostalgia we all know … The Flash will eventually get a reboot in a couple of years and Ross will be reviewing it.
I stopped watching after season 6, but I’ve watched all your videos instead, so feel caught up 😅
I’m so happy to see this video I love it thank you Ross
just what i need after a long work day , the"last flash video"
Really sad and baffling that we only got two good episodes in the final season
I'm only halfway through and how much of this season is a dream, time loop, or something similar?!?
