You know, I thought the katana launcher was kinda stupid and gimmicky at first, but holy crap, that draw at 3:53 was INSANELY fast, if they had been in range it, it probably would have been one of the most impressive cuts I've ever seen.
Across the body, slightly pushed out and up with the thumb and held like a trigger on a slight angle pointing away from u. You twist the sword and saya as u draw to increase speed and power as u swing/cut and step forward with opposite foot.
Huh... On one hand, the slingshot mechanism allows the blade to come out faster. However, as a result, your control over the blade will take a hit- meaning your guard is open longer in the moment after you attack. It's pretty risky, but I can see the use.
@@milewesler9592meanwhile in 2100, Japanese swordsmen have mastered the automatic battojutsu and even incorporated their skill in battojutsu in it, and are now putting vibrating blades that can cut atoms in their katanas

I really want to learn Battojutsu or Iaido. Sadly there's no dojo near me so I just self study but this is not enough. I don't even have a sparring partner. But watching you guys motivates me to keep on training. More power to you 😊
So, it seems like from the initial position, the one who draws first needs to rely on landing their hit solely through reach and speed, and if they miss they leave themselves open for a counterattack.
Automatic sheath is limited by his own mechanism. Work hard to improve saya biki with classical saya and it will be always faster than automatic . Cool gadget but limited and too big for having a great range of possibilities of moves in a martial context. 😉
Definitely not always faster. With good technique, practice, AND the mechanism, you would be even faster. Its like running shoes on a sprinter, they won't make you faster than the sprinter, but they will make the sprinter even faster than you
In the "original" ancient Japanese swordsmanship, the scabbard is always held in front of the body when drawing the sword and the blade is pulled out. You would probably cut off your own wrist this way. It is also not practical to hold the sword handle (grip) in such a way. Study a little more.
I made that katana launcher. Thanks for watching the video! What shall I make next? 😃
